I'm just saying, when Carlton Cole was a youth players he was getting high praise. Ranieri called him the best young player he had ever seen. The only reason Lukaku is getting high notice is that he is much more physically mature then most 18 year olds. For all we know his pace, technique and abilities will be sub-par to other 18 year olds who don't have his strength but are developing their technique (which takes much longer). Remember, Heskey was getting high praise when he was young

Brilliant!!!! Lets buy a player who we absolutly do not need at the moment (Lukaku) and completly ignore a player that our squad so desperatly needs (De Bruyne)! Congrats Chelsea for spending £18 million on the next Carlton Cole, a brilliant piece of investment.
-
So that's why he has freckles!
-
If he is with us for the third year in is contract does the buy back clause expire? Or if he finishes his four years and then gets a new contract or has a contract extention does the buy back clause expire?
-
That is exactly the point, at times his emotions disrupt the dressing room, such as Jose being sacked on when Scolari was not chosing him as the main striker. Its alright when the chips are up but when things start going wrong he can be a bad influence for the team. We are making him bigger then the club, no player should be bigger then the club.
-
He is also a clown. When the chips are up and things are going smoothly he acts all happy. But when things go down South he can be a very difficult and a right pain in the arse, this also includes him being benched when other players are performing better (Anelka in the first half of the 2008/2009 season). History will remember Drogba as a very good striker. But not one of the greatest strikers of all time that other Chelsea fans are deluded in thinking that. He will not reach the stats and heights of people such as Pele, Raul, Henry, Van Basten ect.

We are in a sad state if we are forced to have a 33 year old going on 34 as our main source of goals. He is not even the most prolific scorer as he rarely scores more then 15 goal a season (just two seasons has he gone above 20 goals) and his Premier league record is no way near the calibre of Henry or Van Nistelrooy : 04/05 - 10 goals 05/06 - 12 goals 06/07 - 20 goals 07/08 - 08 goals 08/09 - 05 goals 09/10 - 29 goals 10/11 - 11 goals. Only two seasons has he really shined for us. It was Lampard that provided a lot of the goals (5 seasons in a row he scored 20+ goals) and now that he seems to be in decline our sources of goals are going to really dry up. So it is important that Torres regains form as he may be the only one that potentially could be our main source of goals.

Between March and December, Rooney never scored in open play (3 from the penalty spot). Yet the media were 100% behind him and never considered him "fiinished".
-
If you think about it, buy-back causes are a lose/lose situation for buyers (us)
-
Its an own goal, hit the post and bounced off the keeper. Also it did not pass the line
-
Oh for fucks sake, a whole team change. How are we suppose to know what team we will have if we keep making wholse sale changes at half time
-
But the problem is that AVB will make 10 substitutions at half time.
-
Take Malouda, Lampard and Kalou off and bring in Zhirkov, Mikel and Anelka on. With Josh being pushed up the midfield.

These people are footballers, not Jedi knights.
-
Ben-haim's first goal for Chelsea at long last.
-
Adding a near 31 year old will certainly drive down the average age, as well as giving us an ever needed defensive midfielder.
-
If we are keeping Drogba he really is not needed, will just be an expensive bench warmer after Drogba gets a five year contract extention and stays untill his 45.
-
You know we never really talked about AVB's skills in the transfer market, first signs are not good.
-
Shevchenko was the only player that was really bought to become the main striker, others like Pizzaro and Kezman were only baught for extra cover, while Anelka was bought becuase of the ACON
-
Roman hosted Drogba's wedding.
-
Because it seems that Drogba will stay we have a bit of a dilemma on our hands. The consensus is that they are both the type of player that has to be the main striker on their own, so it seems that AVB will only play one of them on the pitch. The question is who shold be first choice at the start of the season? How will it effect the dressing room if one is always put on the bench? For example if Torres starts scoring a goal every 1.5 games will Drogba kick up a fuss that he cant get into the team and vice versa. So starting with the pre-season game against Pompey, who would you like to have as the main striker, Drogba or Torres?

No he pretty is much on the scrapheap.

Looks like it was part of a 1990s tracksuit design, uck.
