  1. Good to see that he is maintaining a good relationship with the squad. This shows that he can get the balance right between work and play which I think is very importatnt, particularly in the coming months.
  2. Manure 1 point behind us, need to put in cracking performance like we did against Watford.
  3. Just hope that a decision can be made soon, otherwise I can see us seriously losing him
  4. Togo withdraw from Africa Cup of Nations Africa Cup of Nations Venue and dates: Angola, 10-31 January Coverage: Final and semi-finals live on BBC TV, BBC World Service and commentaries on BBC Sport website. Live commentary on opening match on BBC World Service and BBC Sport website -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stunned Togo players in disbelief after attack Togo have pulled out of the Africa Cup of Nations following a deadly gun attack on their team bus in Angola. The coach driver was killed and two players were shot and injured in the attack in the northern province of Cabinda on Friday. Organisers insist the tournament will go ahead but Togo's players met later on Friday to discuss returning home. Team captain, and Manchester City striker, Emmanuel Adebayor said on Friday many players wanted to go home. He told BBC Afrique: "It's a football game, it's one of the biggest tournaments in Africa and a lot of people would love to be in our position but I don't think anybody would be prepared to give their life. You cannot sleep after what we have seen - one of your team-mates with bullets in his body in front of you, crying and losing consciousness Emmanuel Adebayor "If I am alive I can still play football tomorrow and in one year maybe even another Cup of Nations but I am not ready to pass away now. The driver of the Togo team bus was killed in the incident, while nine others were injured including two players, an assistant manager, physio, goalkeeping coach and another coach. Defender Serge Akakpo, who plays for Romanian club Vaslui, was hit by two bullets and lost a lot of blood in the attack in Angola's oil-rich territory of Cabinda, which is due to host seven matches. Adebayor said the players were unsure whether Akakpo would survive at the time, but his club reported that his condition was stabilised and he underwent successful surgery. Reserve goalkeeper Kodjovi Obilale, who plays for French club GSI Pontivy, was also wounded, while several other players required hospital treatment and were later seen with bandages on legs, hands and faces. "I don't think any of the players will be able to sleep after this," said Adebayor, who admitted they were all still in shock. "You cannot sleep after what we have seen - one of your team-mates with bullets in his body in front of you, crying and losing consciousness. It is very difficult." Togo were scheduled to play their first match in Cabinda against Ghana on Monday, with the tournament's opening match between hosts Angola and Mali on Sunday. Ghana players have confirmed they are happy for the tournament to go ahead. Souleymane Habuba, spokesman for organisers the Confederation of African Football (CAF), said the tournament would proceed despite the attack. "Our great concern is for the players, but the championship goes ahead," said Habuba, who questioned why Togo had elected to travel by road rather than flying. "CAF's regulations are clear: teams are required to fly rather than travel by bus," he added. Football's world governing body Fifa has expressed its concern about the attack. "Fifa and its president, Sepp Blatter, are deeply moved by today's incidents which affected Togo's national team, to whom they express their utmost sympathy," said a statement. "Fifa is in touch with the African Football Confederation (CAF) and its president, Issa Hayatou, from which it expects a full report on the situation." source - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/africa/8449611.stm
  5. Very shocking and agree that the tournament should be cancelled. Safety is paramount.
  6. Welcome to TalkChelsea :blue scalf:
  7. It made me laugh as Hull were very defiant earlier in the day that it would go ahead and they were going on about how much they were doing to make the surrouding areas safe.
  8. Just got a call from Thomas Cook about the match being postponed. Sad that it's been postponed, but know that we will be going to Hull at some point. Relived also, not having to trek through the snow to get to Fulham Broadway.
  9. Couldn't agree more and am sure that he will continue to impress during the remainder of this season.
  10. Well Thomas Cook are saying that it's still going ahead as I've had an itinnerary from them for the coach. The way things look at the moment, I'm not sure if I will be going anywhere.
  11. On the official site it says that Hull have never had to cancel a match for cold weather. There's always a first time.... I'm not very optimistic about the snow, and just hope it clears.
  12. At the end of the day his contract is with Chelsea. I would have thought that in his contract, there is something written that he is expected to play as and when required by the manager and the club. Carlo is not stupid, he knows when to rest him and indeed any of the players in the squad.

  14. Yeah i'm sure we won't need it. Silly question, i'm assuming that a replay only happens if the result is a draw? Also what's the reasoning behind them coming to us for the replay?
  15. It also says that if it has to be replayed it will be a 7.45 kickoff on the 3rd February.
  16. Looking forward to this match as I will be going, early start though, 6.15am the coach leaves SB....Would like another result like today.
  17. Very pleased with that result. Superb goal from Frankie and I thought Daniel put in a good performance, pitty he didn't play for the full 90 minutes as I think he could have scored again and got the hat trick. Just hope this is how mean to go on for 2010.
  18. OK, first match of 2010 and so as we know a must win for us if we want to progress further in the FA Cup. It looks as though Anelka will hopefully return to the squad for this game after recovering from a small hamstring tear he picked up in training, which will be good news for the squad now that Drogba has left for the ANC.
  19. I'm well aware that their may well be problems. I just want to enjoy the whole experience, but at the same time I know I need to be safety conscious. I'm sure it will all be fine.
  20. Drogba for me. I think we're definitely going to miss him during January.
