SMH so we bring back Drogba to only go on and sell Lukaku?? I really wonder what goes through our board's minds sometimes to be honest, just when I thought we will finally have a balanced transfer window
-
I am still against this signing, we should be moving on from him. Dont get me wrong I love the guy but his just past it and to make it worse he will take a valuable international squad space and reduce minutes for someone like Lukaku or even a Bamford
-
I dont know if this is the right place to post this but I want to see Mourinho try out a few formations like the 3-4-3 or 4-1-4-1 or the 4-4-2. I think we should be more adaptable and unpredictable as I felt we were too predictable last season with our 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3. I believe our strength lies in our midfield thus we should expoilt this area of the pitch thus a suggestion of formations which are centered around our midfield. 4-1-4-1 would have Cech/Courtios Azp Cahill Terry Luis Matic/Romeu Schurrle Willian/Oscar Fabregas/Van Ginkel Hazard Costa 3-4-3 would look like Cech/Courtios Azp Cahill Terry Ramires Matic Fabregas/Van Ginkel/Oscar Luis Schurrle/Willian Costa Hazard What do you guys think? Some of the players like Oscar, Ivanovic and Salah can always fit into any of these formations
-
I have a feeling we have signed the next Sakho lol
-
His already better than some of the first team players we have ie Salah whilst some attributes of his game like set pieces are way ahead of first team players like Willian, Hazard and Oscar. Dribbling can only be matched by Hazard so if I was the club I would integrate him into the first team already because there is nothing really stopping them from doin it
-
I thought Bamford also looked decent, I love how he anticipates things, you cant teach that, he should def get a chance IMO
-
I was really impressed by Van Ginkel, his def a good player should be given a chance to stake his claim for a starting place, Romeu also looks a really good replacement for Matic

50 goals was a figure of speech I did not mean literary. The La Liga has more hatricks per season than EPL due to the smaller teams being much weaker. By the way its not like Cristiano did not play in the EPL he played and his highest ever total was 31 if I am not mistaken a target he usually always beats at Madrid
-
Are you seriously going to compare stats in the Premier League with La Liga?? Messi and Cristiano score 50 league goals every other season and we dont anyone getting close to that in the EPL Cesc is a great player one of my favorite in fact but dont downgrade Mata's ability just becoz u are he did not fit Mourinho's philosophy
-
If you notice his through ball stats increase in Champ League becoz we play more on the counter whereas in the league we face parked buses more often than not. He also has more willing runners for spain than us
-
Were are you gettin those stats?? I have a feeling you made those up
-
The U 20 World Cup win does not count James Milner was in a Euro U21 final against Germany in 2009 I dont here anyone saying his underrated. Also you say we had our highest points total in 4 years but did you factor in stability and the fact that we spent $100 million last summer to improve the squad?? Had Lewis Baker for example been Brazilian a lot of teams would be queing up to pay big transfer prices for him for his vision, technique and unique two foot use

Again I disagree with the notion Mata costs the team, this was a myth created by Mourinho to justify benching Mata. In the 2 years prior to Mourinho. Mata played all our big games and we were never exposed when he played 2012/13 season Man Utd 0- Chelsea 1 Mata scored Chelsea 2-1 Arsenal Mata scored Chelsea 0-0 Man City Chelsea 1-2 Man City Lampard missed a penalty Chelsea 4-2 Spurs Mata with 2 goals Chelsea 2-2 Liverpool Stupid Suarez scored after he was supposed to be sent off Chelsea 2-0 Everton Chelsea 2-1 Benfica Mata 2 assists So I do not get this un valid reason that Mata exposed us. We just had an unbalnced team without any central midfielders and a good manager things that we clearly had last season which would likely have further improved Mata's game even further. Also just to add Mata never lost the ball in dangerous positions, he shielded the ball well, give me one example of when he lost the ball and we conceded a goal, I can give u at least 5 times when Oscar was out muscled and lost position
-
That is not a valid argument. When Mata was here our team was unbalanced, we changed the manager more than 3 times and we were in transition in terms of the old guard leaving conditions that do not suit a title push. What has Oscar done since he came if you want to use that argument?? Mata won the FA Cup and Champions League in his first season with us and won the Europa League in the second season. That can not be said of Oscar. Had Mata been the focal point last season instead of Oscar with our more organised defence and better manager we surely would have won the league imo. Oscar is overrated lets face the cold hard truth. If he was not Brazilian he would be stuck at a mid table team in Italy or Spain there This myth that Mata exposed the team was created by Mourinho. In the two years he was here he was never the problem rather we lacked a central midfielder. Besides I do not remember us leaking goals when he played. I will give you an example The Man Utd game in 2013 at Old Trafford we won 1-0 and he scored, We won 2-0 against Arsenal at the bridge Mata scored. We drew 0-0 with City at the bridge and lost 2-1 to them after Lampard missed a penalty at the Etihad, I didnt here anyone complain about Mata exposing us then. We also beat Totenham, Everton, Benfica, to name a few during Beniez's era and Mata was never a defensive liability, this was just a myth that Mourinho created and we as supporters believed although it did not have much validity
-
There is nothing that could make me happier if he can prove me wrong but as of now I just think his overrated because he is Brazilian. What does he have that lets say Lewis Baker does not have?? Baker even has the added advantage of costing nothing and using both feet
-
This kind of disrespect to Mata is what pisses me off more than anything else, its like people have forgotten what Mata gave us for 2 and a half years, which was 100% commitment and quality. That can not be said of Oscar his supposed replacement.
-
Agree with you totally, what I hate though is this stupid so called Mourinho style, I think its bullshit that a player of Mata's capabilities could not be accommodated into his palying style
-
People said we should evaluate him after the World Cup, I am now the cold hard truth is we made a mistake making him our number 10 over Mata, Oscar is not a play maker regardless of what some might think. He has never showed the ability to be a great play maker, this is not to say his not a decent player, he is a decent player who would probably do well in a team like Inter Milan or AC Milan. But for Chelsea he is not what we need since we have/had better players than him who can produce 3 times the out put he has. People say he had a good start to the season, he only scored 5 goals and had 2 assists by end of November when his form took a turn for the worse. Mata at his best scored in 5 or 6 games consecutive whilst assisting too. Moses even had 11 goals for us in his first season. People give the argument that he has been over played. But he has played in the same tournaments as Mata for example who has not had a rest since 2009, He went to the 2010 World Cup, 2011 European U21 were he was captain, Euro 2012 + Oympics, 2013 Confederations Cup and 2014 World Cup. I dont see people giving excuses for him when his form is not the best even though he still managed to match Oscar's season's output with half a season at united. Yes Oscar does the defensive world which he excels in but is that the reason we bought him or play him for?? If he is there to be a defend why not buy a central midfileder who is actually strong both in attack and defence (Ballack comes to mind) The truth is people just give excuses for this kid because his Brazilian and Brazilians are supposed to be really good footballers. What does he bring to the table that say a Toni Kroos, Lewis Baker, Kovacic, Barkely, Shcurrle, Rakitic just to name a few cannot bring to the table? This again I will say is not to make Oscar look like a bad footballer he is not, I will support him as long as he plays for Chelsea but I feel that Mourinho was wrong choosing him over Mata. Mourinho has been wrong plenty of times throughout his career and this might be one of the the times. The system we play is wrong if it means we have to sacrifice attack for defence, I believe there should be a right balance between defence and attack (Good examples include Atletico ,Bayern Munich before Pep and Dortmound) I hope he can prove me wrong in the coming season I really hope but as it stands his just an overrated player who has never truly impressed like I said
-
You guys really amaze me, people forget how good Mata was, only 3 seasons ago we were crying out for his creativity and now all of a sudden because we some hw bought more attacking mid fielders you downgrade Mata's ability SMH, Its a fact Mata is one of the best play makers to ever don a Chelsea kit regardless of what Mourinho loyalists might think and just to show you a glimpse of what you are forgettin I will leave Mata's highlight video. I cant say Oscar can produce such high quality even if he tried to. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UiL0hMLTaxs
-
I hope it does not happen, we have moved past him and he is no longer good enough for us
-
I would take Isco in a heart beat over Oscar, who in my opinion is just overrated because his Brazilian, had he been from lets say Croatia or Greece (Random examples no offence) he would either have been dropped by now or would be no where near Chelsea
-
I miss this dude, im still pissed we had to sell him especially 2 united on top of that his supposed replacement has never performed 2 the high standards he set.
-
I keep forgetting he is still a chelsea player, surely if Liverpool can get 7 million out of stoke for Assaidi we can at least get 10 million for Moses
