Because up to that point he was playing pretty terribly. However, striker is one of those roles where you can play awful 90% of the game but make up for it with sparks of brilliance.

Lampard has to be exhausted, playing this many games in such short time, unfair to ask that out of someone his age.

6 AM for me, after what will be a long night of drinking. It's not always easy to be a Chelsea fan, but it will be worth it if Chelsea win and I can see Marin play!
-
Highlights from our last game with Swansea were on Chelseatv today and it reminded me that we had so many chances that we could have (and should have) scored on. If we can just do a good job of finishing all the good chances I'm sure we'll make, we'll be fine.

I think I can solve the arguing problem of the forums, we'll make an argue thread, where everyone can just argue with me and get it out of their system. I'll start off with excellent points like dollar for dollar Torres is the best player we've ever had, Drogba was an awful striker who could never play well in important games, Rafa is the best manager we've ever had, and Lampard was absolute rubbish from 2003-2010.

Why does every thread have to be an over-argued pissing match...
-
I don't get why he doesn't get more playing time, as exhausted as our wingers have been lately and with moses out for international duty. He's not that bad, he just needs some playing time.
-
I honestly can't see us advancing, I would almost consider this a good time to just rotate the squad to rest some players (who desperately need it) and let people like marin and such get some playing time. However, I can't stand a loser's mentality, so I hope we go out there and give them hell!

Alas, the difficulty of humor (especially sarcasm) over the internet. Anyway, I definitely see Hazard becoming a world class player in the EPL, especially if he gains a little weight/strength. I feel like if he was ever completely fresh for a game, he'd be a lot better than he is now, which I still think is quite good. I wish we had put marin in a little earlier to rest him some, he wasn't getting anything done in the second half anyway.

One of the things I like most about Ba is that if we kick it up field, he is very likely to win the header, and help us keep possession. He's good at keep possession in general (especially compared to torres) which helps in so many ways besides just helping us score more. Midfield looked awesome first half and dreadful second half, I don't know how to explain it, maybe they're getting tired with all these games... On defense, Cahill looked solid, Ivanovic has been more questionable lately, which upsets me because he's always been one of my favorites. Azpi and cole played pretty well too. As for Torres, well, we all knew how torres would play. Nice to see him use his pace a little today (I think a lot of us forgot he had it)

Lampard goal!!
-
like that by Hazard

Tottenham's squad is close to as good as ours, but I think our squad is way better than everton and arsenal. In 1/3 of our games we look like the best team in the EPL.
-
I honestly can't see bertrand taking over the role of Cole, it would be a big drop in quality imo, and I can't see him improving that much in the next couple of years. Don't get me wrong, he is/will be a solid defender, and could start in plenty of EPL teams, but I think if Chelsea wants to be world class they will have to have word class or near world class players in every position, so if not Shaw, we need someone for that position.

I raise you one beard cage

Now, try to imagine Oscar with a beard.

Although a disappointing performance, I was impressed by his aggression and effort towards the beginning/middle of the game

I would be honored if the MOTM fancied my girlfriend. However, from what I've seen of Brazilian women, I'd be quite protective of mine as well. :eyebrows:

You guys are lucky, here in the States, this is the best scotch I've ever had.
-
I'm new here, but I'll do anything it takes to someday make that list. Anything.
-
I would have loved him to go to the spanish league, but I would have liked it to be a bottom team there, or at least bottom half- mid level. Malaga is a quality team that already has a good attacking midfield...I can't see him getting a lot there. I'd rather play him every odd game here at Chelsea than for him to play every odd game at Malaga. But if he does get to play a lot, it will be great experience, so hopefully we know what we're doing on moves like this.
-
Can we make an "argue about shit" forum where fans can talk out there lampard, benitez, and other stuff? I tire of hearing the same arguments over and over with just new vocabulary thrown in.
-
I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but even if Ba doesn't score, his runs and pulling away defenders and holding on to the ball is just so much better what torres does. Even though a relatively quiet game for Ba, it still felt like we had 11 men out there, which I never seem to feel for torres. The goals Torres has this season all seemed to be either luck or served on a platter. Ba is a good (but not exceptional) striker that has shown just how bad Torres really is. The sooner the Chelsea administration can swallow their pride and admit "we made a horrible mistake" the better, so we can finally sell Torres at a huge loss just to get him off our payroll. Then we could sign up and coming young striker to back up Ba and another decent cheap third striker as a backup, just on Torres's wages alone. I've backed Torres for so long, and have kept getting my hopes up, even thought maybe Benitez could maybe do it, but he's used up all my patience. Even if he volunteered to play for no wages, I'd just rather not have his awful attitude on the squad.

can he get the hat trick!!!!?!?!??!!

One day, could we play against a keeper who doesn't have the match of his life against us
