^ Surely there's better out there than firstrow..
-
Well, of course it was, it doesn't get bigger than winning the CL in club football.. especially the way they did it.
-
The quotes.. 'in context' were to take the sting away with his "but.. I'm not in love with italian football" comment. Italians in general are more visually passionate & expressive people than us English, so I can understand that view.
-
True, and even if we put the economic reasons to aside for a second.. The coverage on Chelsea TV is horribly presented, they ruin every season review dvd with their shitty commentary. Competition from Sky/BT etc results in better coverage..
-
He signed for £55m, unless a formation change is set in stone, I can't see us giving PSG a good return on investment.
-
I was concerned about the sheer number of games this pre-season, but at least the mileage has been short. The only reason we haven't gone to america or asia is because of the world cup.
-
Oh ffs, here we go again with the real world employee comparisons, this is not Salomon Kalou.. this is a cult figure. Lampard's status at this club comes with it responsibility, Cole & Drogba handled themselves with class when they left; why can't Frank show the same respect to the fans and his legacy.
-
I don't have the video footage, the moment we saw him 'having a laugh' with a smile like a cheshire cat on his face though, the match thread blew up. People saying things like the 'players won' etc. Funny how it works, we've 'conveniently' forgotten about that.
-
When something happens to a club you love, you delude yourselfs into being happy with the situation, because you have no control over it. Lampard always had this dark side about him tbf, I remember him smiling and laughing the game after AVB was sacked; he knew the camera was on him.
-
I thought he would have learned from the 9/11 stunt or the AVB incident.. No class. He should have consulted with Didier, Ash & JT before signing with the City family in the first place. No class, no respect.
-
You answered it yourself 'romantic narrative', 'proper chels' who weathered era's we'll never see again. People need to stop treating this like the current board are Chelsea and Lamps has the right to flip them the middle finger, Chelsea is bigger than the current circumstances. Stop comparing this to real world employee scenarios, Lampard should have known his responsibility as a cult figure.
-
Why is it United get legends who have respect for the fans and their legacy and we don't. The worst part is that, we won't get another breed like JT & Frank again; they belong to a bygone era. Frank should have been intelligent enough to understand the current board are not Chelsea. So it makes no sense to be 'getting one over' on them, becaue it's bigger than that. So his last trophy in England will be with Man-City, laughing and celebrating in a City shirt. 'The face of Chelsea', synonymous with the club, doing... that. Classy..
-
^ I actually wasn't sure those quotes about not joining another PL club were real. First the 9/11 stuff, then the AVB incident, now this. Judas.
-
Pellegrini himself has confirmed it?, usually it's a faceless message on an official website. Lampard is inadvertently advocating mind games between Mourinho & Pellegrini.
-
He is signing a 'contract' with Man-City, they are signing him. He isn't merely training, he's becoming a City player. Ok.. Right, next.. Frank Lampard & John Terry are part of a bygone era of Chelsea ambassadors (not just legends, more.. extensions of the club itself). Now, with such status comes responsibility, for both your legacy, and how you treat the sanctity of that association/relationship with the fans. Ashley Cole knew going to Liverpool would leave a bad taste in the mouth, Drogba understands perception and respect too. This isn't a real world employee situation, these are cult figures.
-
True, although 'brake' would also work.. In a sense that I'd rather people slow the fuck up, carefully digest the arguments in here; then present their view. Rather than insult me or others, make little 'digs' and skip pages meaning we go round in circles.
-
Says the guy from Mumbai.. Claiming my opinion is laughable, yet you're the most inarticulate person to participate in the thread thus far. Hey, here's an idea.. instead of insulting people, why not actually break down their arguments instead.
-
We are living in a world where Ashley Cole has more class than Frank Lampard, let that sink in..
-
He's not a footballer, Salomon Kalou is a footballer. Frank-Fucking-Lampard is Chelsea personified.
-
The whole ordeal just makes me respect Drogba & Ash even more, for how they conducted themselfs with class after leaving as legends.
-
There is also a cross-section of Chelsea fans who will convince themselfs it's all ok, and try to rationalise it.. It's not in our control, so let's choose to be happy about it 'type of mentality'.
-
He will have known before signing for them that this was inevitable, I somewhat doubt he was naive enough to think this wouldn't happen. His status with us comes with it 'responsibility', being a football legend for a club isn't the same as working in the real world.
-
"Chelsea Supporters' Group chair"?, wasn't Patrick-fucking-Vieira a supporters group chairman for City when he retired?, the role means fuck all.
-
Terry & Lampard are the last of a bygone era, they have the responsibility that comes with being an extension of the club. Joining the Man-City family was separating himself from the status Terry will enjoy. Mansour might even make him his 'pet project' like Vieira became.
-
This is Frank Lampard not Salomon Kalou, wake the fuck up. City have signed a part of our identity. This thread will get interesting when.. 1. He's officially unveiled 2. He scores a goal that affects us indirectly 3. Picks up a medal for helping City win the league 4. referred to as 'former Man-City player' in decades to come, you know New York City marketing men will do that, anything to avoid Chelsea association in the US. to be continued...
