  1. 'What does he contribute besides scoring goals?' might be one of the best things I've read on here. I hear Falcao can crochet and has a casual interest in hairdressing. That would help the squad. Right now, Falcao is probably the best in the world at what he does. He does something we need. Now there are virtues to having Lewandowski over him, such as his age and the fact that he plays in a similar style to us, although there are rather stark stylistic differences. But let's not focus on superficial things like their contribution to the team which is partly down to the role they're asked to play and also doesn't seem to be supported by anything beyond your opinion. We'd be lucky to pick up either player, and based on what I've seen they're both better options than Cavani but you've not presented a single argument with facts that supports the theory that Lewandowski would be a better option for our team.
  2. Again, this is a simplistic way of looking at the contribution of players but fine....let's accept that Lewandowski's 'ability to help the team' (which has enabled him to get a massive THREE assists to Falcao's pitiful ONE) makes him 'an all-rounder'...... Ugh.... Look, it's not just about passing - It's about tying players up. You don't just contribute as a striker by winning headers or dropping off the front line (all of which I'm sure Falcao can do because I've seen him do it). You also contribute by taking a defender away from an attacking midfielder by making off the ball runs which a defender has to defend. That creates space for the likes of Mata or Hazard which is just as important as winning a knock-down for them to run onto. Ultimately it comes down to want your team to do.
  3. Sometimes it's best to go with specialists in one area rather than go for people who can do multiple things. You can have the best Plan A that you can and then develop a Plan B (such as going with Lukaku). I also think it's tremendously myopic to view players in such limiting ways - Falcao is a poacher but he's also able to work in the build-up play too.
  4. I agree on the differences but I just see our team's needs differently. I think we need a poacher who creates space for the likes of Mata and Hazard rather than someone who does quite so much work outside the box.
  5. I don't pretend to know outcomes of transfers. All I can go on is a best guess based on the info available.
  6. Didn't Corinthians' keeper get MOTM in that game? On another day we win that but we just didn't have luck on our side. If it was an important trophy I'd probably be a bit more pissed but as long as the improvement continues it was just a stepping stone to get back in the title race (hopefully).
  7. I know exactly how Dortmund play and I'm a big fan of what Klopp has done there. My point is that no-one knows exactly how good a player will turn out to be and alluding to a 'hive mind' sensibility is a little unfair. The problem we have is that we don't know what football we'll be playing in 6 months time so it's hard to adjudicate quite how well a player will fit in long-term. My personal preference is Falcao but that doesn't mean I don't like Lewandowski or Cavani as individuals. I just look at what we're trying to do right now and what it looks like we want to do further down the road and come to a conclusion.
  8. Rafa has instituted a different way of playing since he arrived - the CWC matches were important in allowing us time to do that. We weren't clinical enough but honestly it's not something that has played on my mind that much. The improvement since has been far more important.
  9. I loved the idea of BPS. It could've been a truly iconic location for a new ground but unfortunately it's BPS - if anything ever gets built there I'll be surprised. Earls Court is a nice back-up so long as we don't go the Arsenal route of building a boring, cookie-cutter route.
  10. Thank god for that. Most of the time it's really hard to know for certain if a transfer will work out but now someone who lived in Dortmund for 8 years has said this one will definitely work out (that's 6 more than Lewandoski has so it's got to be right). It's just so annoying that nobody at the club spoke to people who lived in Liverpool when they signed Torres.
  11. We created more chances than them and probably should've scored but they clearly prepared for it better as they were out there longer. Ultimately they were a valuable couple of games to work on the team and get them playing a new way. Since then we've improved but it's too early to judge, but let's not go overboard on what is essentially a Mickey Mouse cup.
  12. I personally think Benitez used the CWC to tune the players up and get them used to playing a different style of football. It's too early to tell if that will pay off in the long run but we saw massive improvements in the Villa and Norwich games. If we do continue to improve then those games in Japan played their role. It would've been nice to win but I haven't shed a single tear about losing to Corinthians and I haven't heard much mention of it either. If I'm honest, the Leeds game meant more to me.
  13. It wasn't one match. It was FUCKING LEEDS. That match actually means something to Chelsea fans. The 1970 replay VHS was pretty much the only thing I could watch growing up that showed us winning titles. Jesus, it was either that or the Makita Cup. This is one of those things that fans like you could never understand. And as for Rafa, no-one knows what will happen in the long-run.
  14. I still thought the club were looking into the Battersea and EC possibilities. Last I heard there was a rumour Roman was looking into purchasing CapCo. There are plenty of issues regarding the development of the Bridge. Long-term it doesn't look promising.
  15. You were posting on here that you hope Leeds beat us, whilst I was standing at Elland Road in a pouring rain supporting the team.
  16. And you would be the little chappy who said @didierforever - come on leeds... 3-0 and benitez out... please... come on... No wonder you're more comfortable with changingman - maybe you could both change allegiance to Leeds since supporting them against us comes so easily.
  17. It was a cunty point that I made and I did wonder whether or not to make it. I'm simply how important national football is to the modern player. The larger point is that I wish Capello had picked him for England.
  18. http://forum.talkchelsea.net/topic/15113-leeds-united-1-5-chelsea/?p=566354 Don't respond to me because I don't really give a fuck what someone like you thinks about my club, but I do wonder where you get off commenting on other fans.
  19. As much as I'd like to believe otherwise, unless Jesus Christ becomes the new manager I don't think it matters a jot to his career.
  20. When you're evaluating talent for a position, then it's clearly something that has to be acknowledged. Course it would help if it were only every 4 years.....or held in Summer.
  21. First unethical, then immoral? I think both of those are a little hysterical. I don't think it's rubbish, but at least you've acknowledged it's a choice. Maybe I'm being unfair because Chelsea comes first for me, and I'd like that to be the same for the players too. It makes sense to at least factor it into the decision making process when buying players. Scholes could've played more years for England but chose to retire. Ultimately we lost out. Oh, and same to you old boy. :dude:
  22. Unethical? I have no problem with the ACON - I just don't see why it needs to be every two years and in the middle of our season. If we can have summer world cups in South Africa and Qatar, then I think the talk about conditions for the ACON is at best hypocritical and more likely a big bunch of cunty bollocks.
