You're completely missing the point. Technique is important but so are the mental aspects of the game. I've seen you denounce these aspects of the game so many times, yet they're fundamental in EVERY sport. It's got nothing to do with you being Brazilian but having a complete lack of knowledge of top-level sports. You can go through any sport and see that the BEST were almost always mentally stronger than their competitors (Jordan, Russell, Manning, Brady, Schumacher etc.). David Luiz is a technically brilliant player but lots of us have concerns over the mental aspect of his game and rather than defend it, you'd rather marginalise it's importance.

I used to say the same thing about Tony Adams. I didn't understand the hype about him until I saw him playing in front of the Shed one day and my old man just said to watch him. I've been lucky to see the same thing for the last decade with JT, this amazing reading of the game to be in the right spot so you don't need great pace to get there.

He's been dropped TWICE this season. John Terry, Azpi and Ramires are consistent. Then you've got Hazard, Mikel, Cech, Oscar, Willian and Ivanovic who are fairly consistent (plus Mikel in a 433). Under that you've got our strikers and Luiz.

I actually like his workrate. Against West Brom he sprinted back in the 89th minute (ish) to help defend a counter-attack....but that's been the high point of his time here. That's what 'turns the lights up on him'. As for him being here to stay, I'm not so sure. I think there are other options out there who are potentially world-class, just like David Luiz is and if a big bid comes in for him then I can't see the club dismissing it out of hand. Not in the slightest is it underrated. In fact I've seen people laud his number of interceptions in a match even when he hasn't made any. You'd expect him to make more than other defenders (although he recorded the same number as JT did yesterday) because of the way he plays, but if it doesn't come off then he leaves gaps behind him and that's happened a fair few times too. I think everyone here understands the appeal of David Luiz. He does have world-class potential and he's technically one of the best defenders around. Plus in a world of social media where funny hair and mannerisms dominate the discourse, he obviously will attract a lot of devotees because he can make a funny Vine clip. But there's a lot of people who value the mental aspect of the game and think that David Luiz is still erratic despite being 26. If he could sort that out then he'd be a nailed-on started in every game.

Torres has also started in games like Spurs and Arsenal away where he was a lot more isolated than Eto'o might have been in games like yesterday's, They're both varying degrees of shit, but Eto'o's signing was a disgrace when we subsequently loaned out Lukaku. The expectations for him were low, and he's still failing to meet them.

Exactly. We defended AS A TEAM. All 11 guys getting back and then working their bollocks off to get forward and support the attack. We seemed to want to be first to every ball, be it Mikel's tackle on Arteta or Lampard getting to the knockdown first for a shot. This was a great foundation that we need to build on. The lack of a clinical striker is all to clear though and we need that threat up front to keep defences honest, but last night's team was the type of team that can scare oppositions.

If we had gone for it and lost (which was entirely possible because Arsenal are a good team) then people like you would have been the first ones moaning. The fact is that we negated Arsenal's threat and created more chances than them. That's how you win leagues.

Can't believe some of the comments on here....but there from the people you expect so maybe I should've be surprised. We looked defensively weak in recent weeks and were going away to a good team. We looked strong today and created the better chances on the break. What the fuck has anyone got to moan about. That's not even taking into account the conditions today. We're two points off the top having gone away to Old Trafford, Goodison Park, White Hart Lane and the Emirates. We showed some real fight and spirit tonight and this sets us up well for the rest of the Christmas period. People moaning about us adopting these tactics today can quite frankly fuck off in my opinion.
