  1. The TV pundits point is a little overplayed. Football exploded on TV in the mid-90s so the big-name recently retired stars were obviously going to come from successful clubs like Liverpool and United. We do okay with the likes of Butch, Hod and Nevin getting regular screen time, and then intermittently the likes of Ballack, Ruud and even Wisey get a look-in. Can't include Burley cause the guy is an utter cunt. Funnily enough one of the kindest voices to us recently has been Souness who has been talking up a resurgence in our fortunes. Neville talks a lot of sense too, although Carragher's dolphin squeals haven't quite hit the mark. I think if you actually look at the people who were around in our growth during the 90s and 00s then you'll see a fair few went into management (Gullit, Wisey, Zola, Vialli) whilst a few others have got gigs on other shows (Ferrer and Minto do the Spanish footy, LeBouef works for ESPN, Desailly does stuff in France). Give it a couple of years and I think JT and Lamps could pop up on Sky, although I think they could be in the Beckham/Scholes camp of really not needing/wanting to. Having said all that, how Owen, McManaman and Redknapp (I get he's somewhat good looking but he talks unbelievable amounts of shit) get consistent screen time is beyond me.
  2. Maybe Hoddle has been right all along...maybe he is a midfielder. Thought he was quite good yesterday and adds another dimension to our midfield.
  3. Surely it depends on what football you want your 'fantasy team' to play. If you want to play like Barca, then you'd have Xavi and Iniesta. Personally I like the way we played football in 2005 and there's no-one I'd want in that midfield ahead of Lamps.
  4. He deserves a long ban for bringing shit like this into the English game. The fact that he's tried to weasel his way out of it with that image of Obama doing A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GESTURE simply compounds it and makes him look like an utter moron. The Christmas period is when English football is at it's best and it's one of the things that separates it from the rest of the European leagues, so to bring shit like this into our game is utterly detestable. Five games is apparently the minimum, double that is more realistic.
  5. He actually deserves a lot of credit for tracking back when we lost possession and Liverpool broke....but I still can't figure out what he's trying to do to Suarez. Could've undone a lot of good work by his teammates.
  6. £35 million would be the starting point in my opinion....that's Andy Carroll money don't forget. Pastore and Lucas went for roughly the same.
  7. So you're comparing a striker making a mis-timed tackle in order to stop an attack with Eto'o taking Suarez out off the ball when there was absolutely no need to? He gave away a stonewall penalty for NO REASON and we're lucky Webb didn't give it.
  8. So you have a player who is worth maybe £40 million but you don't have as first-choice in your big games. You have needs in other areas....what do you do?
  9. Took his goal well today....so torn between wanting to see him do well and being genuinely worried about Everton's progress.
  10. There are refs who would've sent off both Oscar and Lucas but he tends to be a lot more lenient and allows matches to run freely, especially the big ones. The only criticism he deserves today should come from the Liverpool fans. We should just say thank you and keep our heads down because we got away with some stuff today.
  11. 13 goals against Norwich, West Ham, Spurs, Fulham, Cardiff and Everton. 0 goals against Arsenal, Man City, Man United or Chelsea. #flattrackbully
  12. Mata and De Bruyne out, Reus in? Willian, Hazard, Oscar, Schurrle and Reus for 3 positions?
  13. Feel much better with him in midfield. Maybe he can be the answer for us this season and we can sign someone like Zouma or start blooding Kalas.
  14. Back to his best and at the heart of this new Chelsea team. Got lucky with the first goal but glad he got the assist for the second because he needs to pad his stats to please some people. Seems to be the undisputed choice for the big games.
  15. Webb's a great ref.....today he made some bad calls though and we seemed to benefit from the major ones. The scousers have a right to feel aggrieved but we really should've been out of sight.
  16. Absolutely fantastic to see his passion today and to see us actually transitioning to a particular style of football. We just need the players in to execute the plan...and put the fucking ball in the net.
  17. Fantastic performance. Looked solid in defence (goal aside) and played some beautiful stuff going forwards, but had our fair share of luck too. Eto'o took his goal well but Mignolet should've done better, and Webb did us a massive favour not giving them a penalty at the end. Oscar and Hazard were absolutely fantastic and Mourinho's decision to leave Mata out seems entirely justified now which begs the question whether we need a £35 million player in demand on the bench. Great to see progress being made in what we're trying to do on the pitch though. We just need that striker.
  18. If he could get his head right and improve the defensive side of his game then he'd probably replace Ramires.
  19. His problems were in Manchester, so they had to let him go. He's got undeniable talent and I think he's not as far off De Bruyne as some people are suggesting. He's got a cockiness about him that could take him a long way, whereas De Bruyne seems to play within himself a lot. It's a risky move with a massive upside.
  20. They've had a run of five games against Villa, Stoke, West Ham, Hull and Norwich and they've snuck a couple of them. That's no mean feat but they're games you'd expect them to win so really not much cause for concern yet.
  21. He's certainly a fantastic young talent (overhyped... ) but he has plenty of issues. Some of them seem to have dissipated somewhat since he left Manchester but he needs a fair amount of nurturing. Lampard? Cole? West Ham aren't exactly a bad club to sign players from (Carrick, Ferdinand, Defoe too).
  22. So his brainfarts are his 'style'? Who gives a fuck what he does for Brazil....this is Chelsea, not Brazil. This is amongst the silliest things I've read. You clearly don't understand the mental aspects of sport and how important they are. Ergo, I won't bother responding to you further on this topic.
  23. I hate playing Liverpool. Have done for years, hate their fans, hate their self-pitying bullshit (expecting black armbands all round for Freddy the Chicken who found his way into a bargain bucket on Friday) and hate matches against them. I would rather us play any other team than this lot. They won't have played a team like us all season though. We won't give them space to get behind, we'll close the lines that Suarez finds so much fortune in and we'll look to hit them on the break. Set-pieces are going to be massive for us and I predict a tense, horrible game decided on fine margins. Jose needs to work his magic on these cunts.
  24. Fantastically talented but has issues. If we played 433 then he could be a player for us but not sure if he's quite so suited to the double pivot. Having said that he's young, he's out of Manchester and maybe Jose could be a positive influence on him but he's by no means a no-brainer like Luke Shaw.
  25. Brainfart moment....for some reason thought he was at Inter. Time to put the mulled wine and sherry down.
