Different games completely and you know it. We approached that game with caution because it was still only the 2nd or 3rd game of the season against the home of the champions who were still full of confidence from last year. Liverpool went on a blitz because United are now currently at their lowest point in decades. Incomparable. I don't know what Sturridge and Gerrard would have done to stop them playing like Stoke due to our high pressing! The fact is we still won well - not only because we pressed them high, but because Rodgers had no answer. So far Rodgers has spent just about £100m on that Liverpool team. Yes O.K., you have Sturridge who was foolishly given away by us, Mignolet who decent at times but has still made numerous mistakes, Coutinho who is decent but doesn't start. Then you have Allen - average, Borini, Aspas, Sahko - all flops, Ilori - who? The allure of CL football or not, you don't spent £100m on 12 players for only 2-3 starters. That is a sign of ineptitude whatever way you want to spin it. I fail to see how giving Rodgers a bigger budget or CL football automatically improves his decision making... We shall see, but no way am I afraid of Liverpool. To win the title they'd have to beat both us and City. They may overturn City with some luck, but unless Foy is the referee, I don't see us losing with José on our side. He's not lost away to any big team this year and has gone to the Ethiad and walked away comfortably with 3 points. Liverpool can try and blitz us all they like, but they'll be doing it against a classic Mourinho counter-attacking team - our best performances have come in these types of games. No way are we losing.

I honestly don't get this fear of Liverpool. Who did they beat today? Come on, it's just like every other mid-table team they beat. Mourinho made Rodgers look like the youth coach again when we faced them - we beat them very comfortably. Because of that, I don't see us losing at Anfield. And Liverpool will not win the title this year, nor the next or the next and i'll tell you why: they can't beat the big teams, their defence is terrible and from next year onwards they'll be in Europe and they simply do not have the squad size or quality to compete on all fronts (even if they buy in the summer). We only need a top class striker and probably another CM and we're a completely different animal next year. Liverpool need a lot more than Suarez, Sturridge and an aging Gerrard to keep them going next year and with Rodgers in charge of signings there's no need to worry about them for quite a while yet.

He was protecting Ramires the best he could as he took as much attention away from the tackle as he could at that time (though he does not deserve any protecting to be honest). Pundits weren't just talking about the tackle but about José as well, so it worked. Anytime Mourinho is asked about the tackle he just talks about Agbonlahor - it's textbook Mourinho. The press love creating a villain, but they love any Mourinho story even more. If he really did lose it, he would've got himself banned but he kept quiet after the game. He did just enough - he doesn't want a touchline ban on top of things at such an important time. I don't get why people can't understand by now that there's usually a reason behind the majority of Mourinho's actions and it's mainly to deflect attention from his players. Seriously, come on, you must know how he works by now surely? P.S. However, I am excluding genuinely insane things like poking someone in the eye!

Everything seems to have been said already, so i'll just say two things: (1) Ramires is never average: he is either good or he is absolutely fucking abysmal.A friend of mine put the nail on the head when he said he's more of an athlete than a footballer. A squad player in my eyes. We should be looking for a player on Matic's level in the summer. (2) Better to get a kick in the teeth now when we're 6 points ahead instead of at one of the final hurdles. I know City still have games in hand, but the best we can hope for is that this experience puts more drive in some players who currently need it, i.e. Oscar and Willian.

Not to mention you're going to have a hell of a lot more work to against a team like City compared to any other team in the league (where he can only currently play). We played counter-attacking football in that game, so of course his performance would stand out. It's the same for when people point to Mikel's performance in the CL final - it suited him. However, the big difference between Matic and Mikel is the fact that Matic still puts in good, notable performances against teams where we have the majority of the ball - that is the impressive part. But put him in another counter-attacking game against Barca or Munich and he'll escalate his game again to the level of the City performance, that I fully believe. So for people to start pointing to his fantastic performance against City, ignore it's context and use it as some sort of proof that he isn't really that good is, quite frankly, ignorant and laughable. In a desperate attempt to be different, they're trying to start some sort of hate-train that does not exist.

Passing the ball around a bit and recycling possession...really? If we had more possession after he came on, fine. But attributing it solely to him is ridiculous - he was an extra body in midfield. Any midfielder, hell, any footballer worth his salt should be able to do what he did last night: PASS THE FUCKING BALL. Seriously? If that the defence?
