  1. Put it this way, only two defenders can actually say they've performed well across their games this season (Silva and James). Chalobah, KK and Cucurella have all been under par and Fofana seems like he didn't fully recover from that nasty injury he had whilst at Leicester. If Chalobah has been that good this season, there would be zero reason for the club to sanction the transfer of another young CB in January...that money could have been spent on a RB who could actually take the pressure off from James and let Azpi play games as needed...rather than watching teams target Azpi's flank as a weak spot.
  2. Well if Mount wants 300k a week for not really achieving anything, then Kante should absolutely cash in on his last pay check. As for Jorginho, hopefully someone from Serie A takes him off our hands and we can finally rebuild the midfield.
  3. KK can be sold back to Serie A anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if getting that CB from Monaco is an indication that Potter doesn't really want to use KK As for Kante, what did people expect, the club was never going to let a top class player leave on a free after seeing our 2 best CB's walk away on free transfers to Spanish clubs under the previous ownership.
  4. You mean the same Marina that led us to signing a rubbish striker for 95 million from Inter Milan who then proceeded to go back to Inter Milan after 1 season on a loan. Playing games and trying to negotiate is just part of the business. I don't recall any tier 1 sources like Ornstein say that Chelsea were ready to pay the release clause for Enzo. I'm quite satisfied that we aren't going to pay the release clause for Enzo. The kid is good but he's not worth 120 million, far from it. This is the first time that the club appears to be using the knowledge of the new footballing director to try and get a better deal.
  5. The way Fulham are playing at the moment, get the feeling that they will be all over us. Could be a bad scoreline.
  6. Maybe we should just retire the no.9 until we find a good striker who can break the curse.
  7. Who cares about his Barcelona statistics? He scored from tap-ins and easy opportunities in front of goal, which he was never going to get at Chelsea. The fact that we actually paid Barcelona a transfer fee for a player that Arsenal effectively sacked should have been a massive red flag.
  8. I think it should be noted that we had no footballing department in place when the new owners were trying to make statement signings in the summer and that's probably what led to all those rejections. Now that we have some serious resources in place (one comes from the Leipzig model, the others from the Southampton & City model), you would expect to see improvements in the players that we are signing in future transfer windows. Getting the young fella from Monaco at CB feels like a solid pickup as we're reliant on a 38 year old veteran to save our defense game after game. It's good to see that we are at least planning for the massive hole that Thiago Silva will leave behind in the near future as there is enough "talent" between the Monaco CB - Fofana - Colwill to build a solid back four.
  9. Agree but unfortunately, we can't just sell these players. Feel like alot of the problems in our squad will be resolved once we get rid of the current attacking options (Pulisic, Ziyech, Auba) as well as allow Azpi, Jorginho to move on so that we can bring fresh energy into the first team.
  10. In all honesty, Jorginho should probably go back to Serie A. He is a big reason as to why our midfield keeps on getting man handled by any decent team (Brentford, Forest, Leeds have absolutely destroyed us through the middle this season, Arsenal barely left 2nd gear against us and we haven't even faced City or Liverpool yet). Can't believe we actually went from the likes of Essien, Ballack, Obi Mikel to Jorginho. If our 3 first team midfielders were offered to the rest of the top 6 right now, they would take Kante/Kovacic in a heartbeat but I doubt anyone would be that keen on Jorginho as he offers nothing other than recycling possesion.
  11. It looks like you're missing Cucurella and Fofana. They are both better than Chalobah and should be given a chance to settle into the squad. As for Mason Mount, not sure if we actually need him for 300k a week, he's not going to transform our midfield or attack.
  12. It will be interesting to see how it unfolds as I don't recall many 'midfielders' going for 100+ million in recent times. The French talent that moved to Real Madrid would probably be the closest at 80 million... In terms of PL transfers, the two big transfers that come to mind are: Casemiro approx 70 million and Rodri was about 60+ million for City.
  13. The only thing that would stop Arsenal now is a few injuries to key first team players....especially in midfield. You only have to look at us, Kante & James being injured has left a massive hole in our first XI!
  14. This potential deal gives me Joao Felix vibes. He moved on after 1 season with Benfica, 120 million transfer fee, had all the talent in the world to be the next big thing.
  15. West Ham will hang on, they just need to get rid of Moyes and get a decent coach who can actually utilize the attacking talent they have. I'd be more worried about Everton & Bournemouth getting dragged into the relegation fight.
  16. Enzo is good and will definitely get better but he's not worth anywhere near the reported release clause in his contract (120 million). Liverpool are just being smart in the transfer market rather than putting all their eggs in one basket. We have multiple issues with our first team XI and splashing on Enzo won't fix everything...and our recent track record with big transfer fees hasn't been great (Pulisic, Havertz, Fofana's injury issues, even Kepa was a laughing stock for a while).
  17. I think people are being unrealistic if they actually believe that City were capable of going another level. The gap between City/Liverpool and the rest of the league has been laughable for the past few seasons. As for Arsenal, it remains to be seen whether they are actually showing their quality or whether they are just profiting from City/Liverpool having a mixed start to the season. It is sort of a shame that Arsenal's had all the luck with injuries this season as I don't recall any of their key players missing 3+ games...maybe Boehly needs to take a look at their medical department.
  18. Every winger that you listed would cost more than 50 million... I'll be very surprised if Diaby is still at Leverkusen next season, seems destined to play in the Premier League.
  19. For the price tag that West ham want, absolutely. Inflation or not, it would be like watching West Ham rob us blind if we ended up paying anywhere near 80 million for Declan Rice. Fabinho was 50 million, Rodri was 60 million....there's no way Declan is worth more than that but West Ham will just use Grealish's fee as the benchmark.
  20. Don't get me wrong, Enzo is a very good young midfielder but I don't think he transforms our current midfield setup for the price we would have to pay.
  21. or maybe the interest is to future proof our squad for next season? The fact that we're relying on 40 year Thiago Silva to keep our defense in shape is pretty shocking for a club that should be in the race for top 4 in the Premier League. The Monaco CB, Fofana, Colwill, Chalobah is a solid & relatively young rotation of CB's to choose from moving forward. Pair that with a proper ball winner in midfield and there is some positives to look forward to.
  22. Not that we should be 'turning into Arsenal' but the team needs significant change. I don't mind the long term view point from the club as we have been "papering over the cracks" for a while and if this means there will be a bit of a clear out in the next 2-3 transfer windows, that may be a good thing. The question will be, can the club & Potter attract top class players during this period of transition (especially if CL football is out of reach)
  23. I mean Slonina is a future #1 Goalkeeper, how about we actually let him develop like we did with Courtois? Also Zakaria is a loan spell, he's likely going back to Juventus at the end of the season.
  24. I highly doubt the club offered a 30 year goalkeeper who isn't even first choice under Potter a 6 year contract. Seems like something his agent would say just to show Mendy's value in the market. Best case scenario, we get a decent offer from a French club (maybe we can get Monaco interested as Nubel will likely be at Bayern in the near future) and let him go.
  25. There's no way we get Bellingham with both Liverpool & City in for him. Even Real Madrid want him in 2024. The only English midfielder we're likely to get is Declan Rice.
