  1. It will be interesting to see how it unfolds as I don't recall many 'midfielders' going for 100+ million in recent times. The French talent that moved to Real Madrid would probably be the closest at 80 million... In terms of PL transfers, the two big transfers that come to mind are: Casemiro approx 70 million and Rodri was about 60+ million for City.
  2. The only thing that would stop Arsenal now is a few injuries to key first team players....especially in midfield. You only have to look at us, Kante & James being injured has left a massive hole in our first XI!
  3. This potential deal gives me Joao Felix vibes. He moved on after 1 season with Benfica, 120 million transfer fee, had all the talent in the world to be the next big thing.
  4. West Ham will hang on, they just need to get rid of Moyes and get a decent coach who can actually utilize the attacking talent they have. I'd be more worried about Everton & Bournemouth getting dragged into the relegation fight.
  5. Enzo is good and will definitely get better but he's not worth anywhere near the reported release clause in his contract (120 million). Liverpool are just being smart in the transfer market rather than putting all their eggs in one basket. We have multiple issues with our first team XI and splashing on Enzo won't fix everything...and our recent track record with big transfer fees hasn't been great (Pulisic, Havertz, Fofana's injury issues, even Kepa was a laughing stock for a while).
  6. I think people are being unrealistic if they actually believe that City were capable of going another level. The gap between City/Liverpool and the rest of the league has been laughable for the past few seasons. As for Arsenal, it remains to be seen whether they are actually showing their quality or whether they are just profiting from City/Liverpool having a mixed start to the season. It is sort of a shame that Arsenal's had all the luck with injuries this season as I don't recall any of their key players missing 3+ games...maybe Boehly needs to take a look at their medical department.
  7. Every winger that you listed would cost more than 50 million... I'll be very surprised if Diaby is still at Leverkusen next season, seems destined to play in the Premier League.
  8. For the price tag that West ham want, absolutely. Inflation or not, it would be like watching West Ham rob us blind if we ended up paying anywhere near 80 million for Declan Rice. Fabinho was 50 million, Rodri was 60 million....there's no way Declan is worth more than that but West Ham will just use Grealish's fee as the benchmark.
  9. Don't get me wrong, Enzo is a very good young midfielder but I don't think he transforms our current midfield setup for the price we would have to pay.
  10. or maybe the interest is to future proof our squad for next season? The fact that we're relying on 40 year Thiago Silva to keep our defense in shape is pretty shocking for a club that should be in the race for top 4 in the Premier League. The Monaco CB, Fofana, Colwill, Chalobah is a solid & relatively young rotation of CB's to choose from moving forward. Pair that with a proper ball winner in midfield and there is some positives to look forward to.
  11. Not that we should be 'turning into Arsenal' but the team needs significant change. I don't mind the long term view point from the club as we have been "papering over the cracks" for a while and if this means there will be a bit of a clear out in the next 2-3 transfer windows, that may be a good thing. The question will be, can the club & Potter attract top class players during this period of transition (especially if CL football is out of reach)
  12. I mean Slonina is a future #1 Goalkeeper, how about we actually let him develop like we did with Courtois? Also Zakaria is a loan spell, he's likely going back to Juventus at the end of the season.
  13. I highly doubt the club offered a 30 year goalkeeper who isn't even first choice under Potter a 6 year contract. Seems like something his agent would say just to show Mendy's value in the market. Best case scenario, we get a decent offer from a French club (maybe we can get Monaco interested as Nubel will likely be at Bayern in the near future) and let him go.
  14. There's no way we get Bellingham with both Liverpool & City in for him. Even Real Madrid want him in 2024. The only English midfielder we're likely to get is Declan Rice.
  15. Enzo Fernandez is top class, I really hope Liverpool don't get him as they'll be set up for the next decade.
  16. Maybe because Nkunku actually has the technical ability to play out wide and through the middle like a certain Eden Hazard? The problem with Havertz is that he offers nothing in terms of creativity/team play if he's not scoring goals. As I've said multiple times in the past, Havertz should leave for Bayern Munich if he wants to be a star player and get goals/assists for fun. At Chelsea, he will always struggle because he's definitely not a striker built to play in the Premier League and I'm not sure why any manager would bother to play him as a #10/support striker.
  17. Big fish in a small pond generally refers to players with an ego who think they are better than they actually are. Like Zaha is a big fish in small pond, he went to United, couldn't break through, went back to Palace and he is their star player. Lukaku sucks because he never worked on his game.
  18. Because they don't mess around in the transfer market. They needed a defender, they got VVD, they needed a goalkeeper, they got Alisson. They needed reinforcements in midfield, went out and got Fabinho & Thiago. They wanted young talents as squad depth, they got Carvalho & Elliot. Compare to that us, and it's truly shocking how much money Chelsea has blown on players that didn't really improve the squad (Pulisic, Ziyech, Havertz, Cucurella)
  19. It's probably more to do with playing alot of games and not having enough rotation options to give the players a breather every now and then...and it doesn't help when you sign injury prone players like Pulisic, Fofana...
  20. Funny thing is, there were so many people on social media who said Kane was going to overthink the 2nd penalty and not hit the target and that's exactly what happened. France were basically out of gas for the last 20+ minutes and Deschamps doesn't even bother to add some defensive reinforcements, only takes Dembele off for Coman.
  21. He also left Cancelo on the bench, like surely you would want one of the better fullbacks in Europe to be starting a knockout world cup game?
  22. To be fair, their squad quality was always going to drop off after that golden generation (Casillas - Ramos - Puyol - Iniesta- Xavi - X. Alonso - Villa - Torres - Silva and so many more). The only real positive for Spain is that they had quite a few players in that Under-21 age group for this world cup and assuming they develop to the levels expected, they'll be in good enough shape in 4 years time.
  23. Was he seriously linked to us? Seemed like Real Madrid would be a no brainer considering they have Vinicius & Rodrygo who can show him exactly how to get to the very top.
  24. I don't see us letting Kovacic go anytime soon, feel like he'll get a nice contract in the coming months. Jorginho is the most interesting one as the rumors around Declan Rice will only get more frequent & annoying as the transfer window approaches and you would think that if the club is "all in" on Declan Rice, then Jorginho's role in midfield comes into question as I don't see Potter utilizing them together in any possible midfield combination. The defensive planning is just shocking as we had two replacements in Tomori & Guehi but we let them go for about 25 million each and now we're likely to spend 60-70 million just to find a solid CB to take over from Thiago Silva. Interesting times ahead, massive transfer window coming up
  25. Not that I like talking about Arsenal but they did a good job in getting rid of the average players from their squad and heavily investing in players of the 21-24 year age group. Feel like we took a step in the right direction by offloading Barkley, Drinkwater and other squad fillers. Now if we can do the same with Ziyech/Pulisic, get in a solid defensive midfielder....we might be able to start building a half decent team again! Nkunku*, Havertz, Mount, Gallagher, Reece, Fofana, Colwill will be nice to watch in the coming years...just need to fill out the rest of the squad
