Caicedo isn't average, not his fault that the club were stupid enough to pay 100+ million for him. I bet he would have looked just as good as his Brighton days at Liverpool. How is that Klopp gets new midfielders and they seem to be able to work in his tactics from day 1 (that guy they got from Leipzig, Gravenberch, MacAllister are all new to Liverpool)....but at Chelsea every player takes so long to figure things out.
-
Yeh and with INEOS taking over United, they're getting Dan Ashworth and apparently he's keen on working with Potter again... I feel like we would end up with De Zerbi as the owners seem to love anything related to Brighton....
-
He won't be short on offers, just like Alonso and De Zerbi. Will be interesting to see where Amorim & De Zerbi end up in the manager merry go round.
-
or maybe he said no to us...just like Luis Enrique and Nagelsmann
-
Because money talks. Apparently he was on crazy wages + bonuses at United... At least with Pogba he'll be able to say he helped his country win the World Cup.

It's because once you have a solid system in place, you can get away with playing the 'kids' as the senior players know their roles and they can control the game to make it easier for the 'kids'. I remember back in the day Ancelotti blooding plenty of kids in our cup games, Van Aanholt, Kakuta, McEachran among others.

There is definitely room for improvement and that starts with the basics. Use players in their best position (i.e. don't play a young CB at LB just to give him game time, if he's good enough, blood him in as a CB) Figure out the best midfield moving forward (really is a shame that Lavia could barely play 3 games all season, he's the one with the passing ability we lack) Huge question marks over our attack (did we really expect Mudryk and Madueke to get 10-15 goals this season? What's Sterlings role? Jackson looked better in 2 games on the left flank than most of the season as striker.....and is Nkunku ever going to be fit for 10+ games in a row or is that the reason why Leipzig sold him, knowing that he was injury prone?) Top 4 is dreamland at this stage but we really shouldn't be down in 10th/11th place either. You can't tell me that the current squad is any worse than United/Brighton (based on current league table). The difference is United have enough quality to take those 50/50 chances from guys like Rashford, Bruno, that Haaland-lite striker they got and then they have two game changing youngsters in Garnacho & Mainoo.
-
That's what happens when you don't have any experienced players (other than Thiago Silva) to set standards in training You think the fitness would have been this bad if Jorginho, Kante, Azpi and others were still around the first team squad?
-
It doesn't even matter if they threw on 3 16 year olds for their debuts in extra time, the fact that we can't score a goal in 90 minutes sums up our season perfectly! And even then, we only beat them thanks to Trippier losing his mind on the pitch, gifting a goal and them not being able to convert in the penalty shootout.
-
Just wait for the 50/50 call in a key moment of the game, it'll go in LiVARpool's favor and they'll end up winning. Klopp could field multiple youngsters in the final and it wouldn't even matter as they've beaten us so many times in finals...
-
That was down to injuries at the wrong time of his development and then for some reason he was being re-trained as a wing back to satisfy the manager in charge at that point in time... The weirdest part was that we replaced him with players who are the same quality as him (Mudryk & Madueke). Normally when you sell players, you want an upgrade or at least a more well rounded player....but CHO is no worse than either of the wingers we ended up spending 100 million on...
-
I can only see Mbappe ending up at 2 clubs (that are actually serious about winning trophies and competing) - 1. Real Madrid, 2. Liverpool (you just know they've got Alonso lined up as the next great manager)
-
I feel like Gilchrist could have come on...he's been playing that defensive cameo role for a number of games this season. As the saying goes, if you don't play the youngsters how do you know they are good enough? Like when Klopp played Bradley against us, no-one expected him to be the standout player of the game and yet by the end of the game, he was toying with us.
-
You're forgetting the fact that we had experience all over the pitch and the team was well-drilled in how to get through a low scoring game. Right now we don't have Rudiger, James, Azpi, Kovacic/Jorginho/Kante, Christensen... Our team is decent enough and you can see they are keen on putting up a fight but we just don't have the quality to see out 90+ minutes against a top 6 PL side at the moment.
-
His replacement was like Moyes going to United back in the day, far too big of a role for a manager of limited experience and quality. With the current players we have at the club (and the injuries), if Tuchel was in charge, we wouldn't be better than mid table. You think he would magically make our defense better without a fit Reece James? And I'm not really sure what he would do with Mudryk - Sterling - Jackson and Palmer in attack as none of them seem like players that would do well under him.
-
For me it's: Mourinho > Ancelotti/Conte (League titles) > Sarri > Tuchel
-
Liverpool will give us a beating on both flanks, it's not just Palmer. A fit Salah will give Chilwell and whoever plays left flank plenty to think about. Liverpool is probably the worst side for us to face as they have players who take those 50/50 chances. Salah/Jota/Diaz/Nunez runs around like a madman/Gapko/that Leipzig midfielder they got.
-
Might be cheaper to 'part ways' at the end of the season? And also, who's going to come in right now to solve the issues at the club? Lampard part 3? JT Interim?
-
Palace don't need to do anything for the rest of the game, just stay compact and they'll probably hold out on 1-0
-
In before Sterling starts again and we go back to square 1. Final scoreline: 1-1
-
Gotta say it's refreshing to see Bayern get outclassed in a big game! Will be interesting to see where Alonso ends up next season as he'll definitely have options.....Liverpool, Bayern Munich etc.
-
I think if you're consistently making the finals, you're going to be classified as a cup team. Winning on the day is often luck and your key players taking the game on. The only issue for us is that we've forgotten how to win the final with losses to Arteta's Arsenal, Guardiola's City and then Klopp's liverpool on penalties.
-
What else do you expect? These aren't players with 150-200 games under their belt and who know how to deal with these situations. Between Jackson, Madueke, Palmer, Mudryk, Gusto, Enzo, Caicedo....they've probably played like 50 solid league games before moving to Chelsea. Just happy to see them get a win away from home and actually score 3 goals in the process. Referees aside, we were never going to beat Liverpool at Anfield and let's be honest, if you let Wolves get into dangerous positions over and over and you let them run at you for fun, Neto & Cunha will eventually create enough to score a few goals...
-
The only reason to bring in Jose would be for CHAOS and giving these entitled kids a proper kick up the ass.
-
Wonder if that'll be the end for Poch or whether we need to sit through another 5 shitty performances before the board finally pull the plug
