Mudryk is gonna end up just like Lukaku's time here. Loan after loan until the contract gets down to 2-ish years left and then probably gets sold to someone permanently.
-
Is there a source for this?
-
Remember the last time we signed that sort of player, a certain American wide player/no.10... Hopefully Neto stays fit as he's got pace to burn. Nkunku, Palmer, Neto, Jackson is a decent combination up top... If only we could sort out the CB situation! 😆
-
Haha people are just adding Petrovic's name to any post just to make the club look bad. The guy was signed as a backup keeper from the MLS, played a bunch of games because our other keepers were out injured. All of this could have been avoided if we didn't give Brighton 25 million for their 3rd choice GK.
-
Don't forget we also threw money on Mudryk (70 million - if all clauses met), Fofana (75 mil - if all clauses are met)... That Omari deal with Villa was purely PSR transfers (just to give them a profit so that they give us a profit for Maatsen after Dortmund didn't want to pay the clause).

Getting ready for a 5-3 loss to City on Matchday 1 (Palmer going hero mode again!)
-
Funny you say that as JT himself mentioned a few years back about a certain cobham graduate who was showing those signs at youth level *Guehi*....and he's available from Palace as well. Its a shame that he's likely going to Newcastle who already have Botman/Schar as quality options.
-
I didn't mention prices, I was simply saying Son, Solanke, Kulu and whoever else they have in Ange's attack will be fun to watch! I agree, he's not worth 65m.
-
That's an exciting attack to watch next season....whereas we'll just see Jackson/Samu "developing" for another 2+ seasons.
-
Calafiori was available earlier in the window. Even Todibo looks a better player than both of the French defenders we have at the club...
-
Samu may be fine in a few years time but it doesn't really make sense considering we already have young talent in Guiu/Washington, even Fofana is coming off a PL loan spell and might have been okay playing that backup role... What we needed was a bit of experience like a Giroud/Diego Costa type to come in and take the load off Jackson, not another U-20's kid.
-
@Vesper would you take him at Chelsea as another option on the wings or too injury prone for us?
-
He also wouldn't want to be remembered as a player that ran down his contract (sat in the reserves for a full season) and then walked on a free transfer at the age of 24. I've seen younger players (U-18 to U-20) leave on free transfers but don't recall many senior professionals doing it unless there was serious bad blood with the club.
-
That makes sense, why should Atletico wait around for Gallagher to make his decision, if they found a cheaper alternative, they can spend that money on getting quality like Alvarez up front!
-
I think there is something else to it. I wonder if that Brazilian wonder kid's transfer is gonna cost us a chance to get a proper CB and a proper 9. 30+ on KDH, Veiga, that Brazilian wonder kid, Tosin (free), Guiu (6 mil)....and the only one adding a bit of quality this season is KDH. I'm sort of surprised the club hasn't moved for Guehi from Palace to help sort out the CB situation.
-
Victor is right there and Conte wants Lukaku...surely the club can finally sort it out and give the likes of Palmer/Nkunku a proper 9 up front.
-
That's interesting, considering Arteta was happy to buy him for 75-80 million (when he had that clause at Brighton), then Klopp wanted him badly for 100+ million... Compare that to Gallagher who has had three serious offers: Everton, Villa and now Atletico...
-
There are enough options in midfield and Maresca will be able to tinker with the lineup as required. The problematic areas will be: CB and who plays up top.
-
For me, it's the defensive issues and GK issues that will cost us a place in the top 4. I'm not convinced with Sanchez at all. All of our rivals have at least 1 CB who is the leader at the back. (Dias/Stones/Saliba/Gabriel/Romero/VVD/Lisandro). We have 4 players but none of them are leaders and Thiago Silva isn't there this season to 'coach' them.
-
He'll be so much better than Gabriel. They lacked that midfielder and striker to really go after Man City last season....and they're likely to solve both of those problems with Merino & Victor and they also added to their defence with Calafiori.
-
Guiu is not the answer (yet), has shown signs of his promising ability in pre season though, once he gets some proper minutes under his belt, he'd be a good option (those rumors of him going on loan to Spanish clubs actually made alot of sense). Feel like having a proper 9 like a Diego Costa/Drogba type would help so much as it gives you that focal point even when the midfield or the key playmakers are having a bit of an off day.
-
Even a washed up Welbeck would be more use than Broja since the injury. He went to Fulham and barely got off the bench 😆
-
a) If Gallagher was that good, the club may have offered him a proper long term deal, clearly he's not part of the long term plans in midfield but the club also don't want to see a home grown asset walk out on a free, so they offered a 3 year deal. "favour with the fanbase"....as if Clearlake care about that. They are just making business decisions, Villa apparently offered close to 50 million for Gallagher and Emery would have utilised him quite well but Gallagher rejected the offer. Even if Gallagher was to run down his contract and sit on the bench for a whole season, what top tier options does he actually have? It's either Villa, Newcastle or Liverpool if Slot wants a runner and I highly doubt he would join Spurs considering how much he's spoken about his connection to Chelsea. b) I agree with this but Tosin is a squad player that came on a free, fulfils the HG criteria as well. The bigger problem is, what do you do with Disasi/Badiashile as both look below-par.
-
People keep referencing the contract offered as 'not valuing him' but they offered to make him one of the highest paid midfielders at the club and these are reports coming from Ornstein, Romano. There's every chance they could have offered him a nice 5 year deal (as most of the people here are mentioning) but there's no guarantee that they would have given those sorts of wages.
-
You get why the club was trying to sell him though, pure profit on the books, same as Mason, same as Maatsen and I'd be surprised if it's not the same for Chalobah and Broja (if anyone wants to buy him).
