  1. Why would Ederson move here? The only links for him were from Saudi league, which was to get a nice retirement fund (even KDB said the same thing recently, he would consider going there for a year or two).
  2. They also have the funds to satisfy City's requirements. Aren't we already on the FFP/PSR Radar due to massive transfer fees in the past few seasons? I doubt spending another 80+ million on an attacker is going to help that situation. I feel like Alvarez would be best suited to La Liga, he could really make a name for himself like other South American forwards. Ligue 1 is like a training ground for talent, good players shouldn't be spending their prime years over there.
  3. If we're looking for more of an attacking mid/winger type, surely the guy to go after is Eze at Palace. Alvarez is a good overall player but spending that much is crazy, he would end up like Havertz here...
  4. Maybe James, Fofana and Lavia were getting bored and they want a new buddy in the treatment room.
  5. "accounting gymnastics" 😆 Essentially, if we don't sell our academy products for decent money, we're screwed (that's why I see Gallagher being sold as I don't think Chalobah or Broja will get that much in transfer fees).
  6. I'm sort of surprised that we're not linked to any experienced strikers (in that Giroud/Demba Ba mould) who could come in and put in a decent shift and take the pressure off Jackson/Palmer/Nkunku (as he gets fully fit).
  7. They also had injuries to their starting GK, CB and many other squad level players... To be taking on UCL + PL (solid top 4 run), you need some proper depth in your first team squad. Depends on if Emery can keep the core group together and then add some depth. I feel like they did have a decent run this season with PL and the European league competition (getting to the latter stages, not having enough to get past the eventual champions). I'd still expect them to be around the top 6... City/Arsenal will be the top 2, if Slot figures it out quickly Liverpool shouldn't be dropping from top 4....that leaves us, Spurs, Villa, Newcastle and United battling for the 4th spot.
  8. Still led Roma to the Conference League title in 22 and then backed it up with getting them to the Europa League final the following year. He might be stubborn and stuck to his ways but that's how Mourinho operates and in most places it gets results (other than Spurs who are just cursed).
  9. Number one for winning trophies, absolutely. Number one without debate? Feel like Mourinho should be in that debate...he was winning like a mad man in his younger days.
  10. He's not the biggest priority, we need to sort out the defense first before worrying about spending 100 million in attack! Maresca needs to figure his best CB combo as soon as possible as there is no Thiago Silva to lead the team anymore
  11. If true, that would mean Chalobah is going to be sold...
  12. I don't expect that deal to conclude anytime soon, there will be third party payments, agents and many other people involved. And then there's other clubs like PSG who could swoop in last minute (and it would make sense to get the next wonderkid with Mbappe no longer there).
  13. Exactly...CB and a proper striker should be the priority in this window. GK can be sorted out, we've wasted more than enough of both Kepa/Sanchez, I wouldn't want to see another massive amount spent on someone like Pickford.
  14. I always thought it was too soon for AvB when he was asked to take over Chelsea, especially with the squad we had at the time (JT spoke about how he pissed off all the first team regulars in pre-season by making them fly economy and the youth players were in first class). Maresca basically has Sterling, Chilwell as his 'older' players, everyone else is like Under-25 in this team.....and it should be the same squad heading into next season (minus Silva and maybe 1-2 others depending upon FFP concerns).
  15. I saw a bit of that as well...I get the hype around the Leicester manager (being part of Pep's coaching staff will always bring hype) but I don't think he's the solution. For me, it's De Zerbi, he's coached in multiple leagues and even kept Brighton in a decent state (considering the injuries and his 2 key mids leaving). I feel like he's more than ready to keep us as a top 6 side (I don't see us becoming top 4 next season) and he may be able to help the likes of Mudryk pick up some decent form.
  16. Personally, I don't think we have the players to actually play that style of football on a consistent basis. Caicedo - Enzo with Gallagher (or whoever the replacement is going to be if he's being sold to meet FFP) seems way more suited to counter attacking. We also don't have 'cheat codes' like Pep who can call upon Rodri/Dias/Gvardiol, KDB/Foden/Alvarez/Haaland in attack... We also had Jorginho running Sarri's possession style system....with Kante alongside him. Both were class acts. Both players were far, far ahead of what we have in the midfield now, especially as we still don't know how the injuries will affect Lavia moving forward.
  17. If Gallagher wants to waste his career at United, that's up to him. Let them pay similar fees like the Mount deal.
  18. IIRC, the player has mentioned that his preference would be a move to United but people will keep on hoping that he'll choose Chelsea as he was here years ago as a kid. Palace would love the fact that we're interested as they can easily jack up the price. We'd probably be better off getting Guehi back at CB.
  19. How does McKenna even get into the shortlist without coaching a PL team yet. Maresca at the very least learnt a few things from Pep before deciding to give it a go with Leicester.
  20. Because De Bruyne wasn't keen on playing a secondary role (where at the time Oscar fit the Mourinho workhorse mold) and Salah was pretty raw at that point, nowhere near the player we all see at Liverpool (definitely benefitted from those seasons in Italy).
  21. So Amorim flew to England on a jet all those weeks ago, apparently went to interview for West Ham (and the assumption is Liverpool as well) and then there's no interest in him for a PL role? Wonder if he's the one to take over at United, just waiting for the club to fire ETH
  22. I don't think either of them are an upgrade on Poch... The names that were being thrown around like Thomas Frank and McKenna, like how about you let McKenna manage at least 1 season in the PL before you give him a squad that just finished in a decent position this season (considering how it started and the number of injuries we had). The only one that makes sense is De Zerbi but I don't see many solid rumors.
  23. Ferran, Zinchenko can be easily replaced in the City machine. They didn't really need G.Jesus either when you have Haaland and Alvarez up front. Gundogan is the only real loss for City & Pep.
  24. Looking at both teams: Liverpool: Kelleher, Endo, Van Dijk, Konate, Diaz, Mac Allister, Gakpo, Elliott, Robertson, Gravenberch, Bradley. Subs: Adrian, Gomez, Tsimikas, Clark, McConnell, Koumas, Danns, Quansah, Nyoni. Chelsea: Petrovic; Gusto, Disasi, Colwill, Chilwell (c); Caicedo, Enzo; Palmer, Gallagher, Sterling; Jackson Chelsea substitutes: Sanchez, Bettinelli, Chalobah, Gee, Gilchrist, Tauriainen, Madueke, Mudryk, Nkunku I wonder which side had more unknown youngsters in the final. The fact that we had attackers on the bench and they had no-one and we still couldn't buy a goal that day...
  25. There were multiple poor games this season under Poch. I was actually keen on Poch sticking around for another season based on the decent football that was being played in the last few games.
