Eric Ramsay was also part of the United setup from 2021 to 2023 alongside Ole then Ralf and Ten Hag.
-
Neither of them would leave their current clubs Glasner would be interesting as he isn't signing an extension with Crystal Palace.
-
Who exactly was he "forced" to play by the owners? Most of the team picks itself when fit. The only players who wouldn't be guaranteed game time are: Tosin, Badi, George, Facundo and Gittens. Hato seemed like a long term signing, Josh is from the academy and Guiu was only brought back because they thought Delap may not be ready by January. Even if they did "pick" the team, the fact that he had no plan B in multiple games has nothing to do with ownership and more to do with his limited tactical skills (remember that he was a Championship level manager before getting the chance at Chelsea).
-
He's done well at Palmeiras, he may be able to get the best out of Estevao and even our other South American players in Enzo, Pedro, Santos etc. But looks like we'll be getting the Strasbourg manager.
-
They'll just score 2-3 early ones and then bring on a few subs for match fitness.
-
I wouldn't mind Abel Ferreira but I doubt he leaves Palmeiras for us.
-
Not to support United but they have been a laughable team this season and we are basically on the same points as them. We will be closer to 10th place on the table once City get the 3 points from us.
-
Plenty of managers will still come, its like any project, even if they do poorly, they will still get a nice payout at the end of the day. We all knew Potter was out of his depth at Chelsea and yet he got the job because of "Brighton connections" Think the problem is, how many QUALITY managers will want to come in mid-season?
-
Glasner would be available from end of the season, maybe he can convince Guehi to join his academy club again! 😆 However i don't see the board going for him.
-
That sounds like a manager problem. If your going to play a CB with limited passing ability and your obsession/tactic is to have possession of the ball, then that is a glaring hole in your tactical system. We used to have guys like Zouma at CB and the managers didn't really force them to carry the ball out as they knew they had limited passing skills. Maresca should have a plan B for when his 'preferred' CB's aren't available.

The biggest thing about Arsenal recently has been their ruthless buying in the transfer market. That's something we used to do at Chelsea under Roman! From memory, they were all over the Caicedo deal (think it was 75 million at the time) but then Brighton didn't agree to the transfer. They went and got young Mosquera and Hincapie as defensive depth and they already have arguably the best CB partnership in the league. Also getting Madueke was a good deal for them as he won't be starting every game
-
They might be deeper than the manager but he has also COST us points this season by playing his favorites like Tosin against Sunderland (gave away the winning goal at the Bridge). He played players out of position on a number of occasions this season as well.
-
Put it this way, I feel like we've reached our level with Maresca as manager (floating around 4th to 6th every season). For me, he just doesn't have that extra gear that Mourinho/Conte/Tuchel/Ancelotti had. The most frustrating thing about this season and even today's game was: no one was keen to take the game on at home in the 2nd half. Where's the shots on target, wheres the run and dribble to create a potential free kick or penalty. Seemed like the players were satisfied with a point
-
Once we lose/draw a few more games, you won't be so relaxed watching our games. Those dropped points to Sunderland, Leeds and a few others will come back to bite us at the end of the season. United aren't even serious and yet they are tied on points with us and they will get some good players back after AFCON finishes.
-
To watch Villa get 3 points from us and then go to Arsenal and get hammered in the 2nd half.....so frustrating. If one of the other attackers was keen on doing something other than Estevao, we would have won today. It seems like every player isn't interested in shooting at goal and testing their goalkeeper, its more about retaining possession in front of the opposition box. People on this forum used to criticise Jackson but honestly what has Delap done to be the striker at Chelsea? At least Jackson scored goals every now and then.
-
If Arsenal start pushing for Jacquet, we won't get him.
-
Our chances of top 4 will continue to slide, expecting both United and Livo to win. We lose to Bournemouth and we are basically mid table.
-
Don't think having a low wage bill and low average age is going to help if we miss out on UCL football next season. Wonder if some players will have to leave in the next transfer window to 'balance the books' 🤔
-
The big question is: which of the other "ex city" players have been decent at Chelsea? Tosin is horrific at CB, Gittens looks a very raw player, Lavia can't stay fit for 3 games in a row, Delap looks like he forgot how to be a striker since leaving Ipswich. The last thing we need is more ex city youngsters. It works when your at clubs like Southampton and you can potentially find the next U-21 gem, give them game time and hope that they kick on without too much pressure.
-
The problem is, the midfielders don't really fit together and Lavia can barely stay fit for 3 games. Alot of questions to be asked end of the season between Lavia, Santos, Essugo. As for Reece in midfield, feel like that may be the only way to keep him fit long term as we know he gets injured bombing up and down the right flank.
-
He was also part of the City setup (b team and academy) but it would be a huge call to go from Pep to Enzo. Enzo would be like United getting Moyes after the Ferguson era finished.
-
We have some horrible fixtures coming up, hopefully Maresca stops tinkering so much. Everton/Newcastle/Villa/Bournemouth with City in early Jan...
-
Don't worry, the club is planning for the LONG TERM The Premier League won't be ready for Chelsea's all-star Football Manager lineup in 2030 when all the youngsters are 23 years old and ready to take the league by storm! 😆
-
Cucurella was 24 when we signed him from Brighton... If we were that keen on Semenyo, we could have got him in the summer. Somehow we don't get Kudus (the player was keen but West Ham weren't keen on KDH as part of the deal) or Semenyo and we end up with the GG brothers. United get part of their Mount fee back.

The last manager to survive around 3 years at Chelsea was Mourinho Conte had about 2 years, Tuchel less than 2, Maresca will be on about 2 years if he survives till next season.
