Lovely long pass from oscar to mata, another energetic peformance... What a player
-
Torres is reading my threads, lovely movement. Passing and making the run foward for the return pass. Its just left with his finishing, I swear he can't score a one on one again, its getting ridiculous. GOAL ivanovic Another mata assist

Lovely pass from mata, oscar both of them are killing norwich
-
That's a penalty for sure, what's wrong wit the ref
-
Torres movement is getting better.... Just left with him to shoot when he sees the farking keeper
-
@spike spiegel i understand the type of player you are talking about. More like an ibrahimovic that can pass well and link up. But remember that we have something those teams dont have, which is 3 serious assist kings behind the striker. He doesnt need to be involved with the play at all, he will only block space for mata and oscar to operate. He just needs to make runs to take away the center backs so that mata can penetrate there or find him with a pass to finish. Falcao shows no mercy to keepers on a one on one, but torres seems to be less confident of shooting (except in the last match) Falcao has a better ball control than torres, i think you underestimate what it means for the striker not to lose the ball. Look at drogba, you must foul him instead of taking the ball from him first. This helps the other attacker to make runs for the pass and brings the whole team into play (I think this is torres worst problem) Falcao cant dribble like torres but torres still ends up losing the ball, which is worse than passing and moving like falcao The reason why it seems the whole team plays for him is he runs towards scoring positions anytime the team is on the attack and i mean everytime. This will make the midfielder know that you will be in the box everytime he wants to attack, making it easy to read his position. (Another popular example of this is ronaldo. He runs aggresively and is in the box even ahead of benzema) Falcao takes the responsibility of scoring for his team, which means attempting more shots. Torres prefers to pass sometimes which is strange comparing him to his fellow striker david villa (another person i admire) He is also energetic like most south americans (aguero, tevez, higuain, suarez) Watch the video on page 31 from RamiCFC9 and you will see some of falcao's abilities.

Yea, we have more teamwork and movement than ever. Hopefully torres continues playing without losing the ball And he starts shooting more like the last match
-
e] Yea i understand you. Its his confidence in shooting that prevents him from taking shots, making him to want to dribble first before shooting instead of just shifting the ball to one side and curling the ball in the net. The newcastle was just a sublime confident torres, he passed quickly to hazard instead of dribbling, and then ran foward for a return and fired the ball at once without over thinking it. Wish we could see more of that
-
He has a serious confidence problem and that kills him. But his peformance is now improving and i feel like he has talked with dimatteo about his mistakes. This is the first time he has peformed well for two straight matches for a while. His next game will really show me if he has changed loosing the ball and falling, which was his biggest problem. As you can see, he passed to lampard for the first goal in the last match instead of dribbling and loosing the ball. And in the last goal he held his ground with pressure from the defender and oscar took the ball and assisted ramires. We score more goals when he doesnt fall down and lose the ball, and then oscar is understanding him better by putting him on goal a few times now so he just needs his finishing in check. Our other player are scoring for us, so im willing to wait for torres to develop understanding with our attackin three of hazard-oscar-mata.

Lol

I believe oscar will understand his style of play soon enough, i really believe in that boy. See how he created two one on one chances for moses and torres. Thats the thing we need the most from open play. Torres will benefit from that as long as he doesnt lose the ball.
-
your right, he tries to get the ball too much. But with our new possesion based players, he wont have that problem soon enough i hope. The main issue is him losing possesion and falling down which spoils our play and makes our players reduce passing to him. If he can fix dat, then he's good. I really like how he takes the shot these days instead of just trying to dribble into the post
-
I know torres has been bad. But i cant say i dont want him to do well and improve. I truly have a soft spot for him as a chelsea fan and naturally want all our players to be good.

We should start with our strongest squad, no doubt. Premier league is our priority before other competitions. No games required, we must win. Dimatteo is right, mata-oscar-hazard will develop understanding and be devastating. Im just afraid that oscar's presence is reducing hazards influence in matches but helping mata more. ivanovic-Cahill-luiz-cole mikel-ramires mata- oscar - hazard Torres Cech is on top form so i predict a clean sheet We should start training cahill-luiz partnership since terry wont play for a while

In our last champions league game, i was impressed with torres 1. Got behind the defence and how he started his runs from deeper(making his team mates to see his runs in time) instead of starting runs beside the defender and getting offside. Maybe its because of a better understanding with oscar too as well as mata. 2. He also got better with holding the ball without loosing it. (example was ramires goal, former torres will lose the ball before oscar can get it) 3. He also reduced dribbling stupidly and loosing possesion I have a feeling dimatteo has recognised this and told him because dimatteo recognised the problem in the double pivot too and put ramires there. I just pray he doesnt take another confidence fall again and loses form for 10 matches before recovering because i cant take anymore of that. Overall im happier with his movement now, its just left with better finishing, confidence to shoot and staying away from the wings. What do you think
-
Yea he was actually the man of the match to me, bt mata got two goals so maybe the stats put it in his favor.
-
I seriously agree with you. Oscar was the one that controlled the game and linked up with the players more. I know mata scored two goals but oscar could have easily had a goal(if the ref let play go on) and 2 assists(if torres could finish a one on one in his life). And he had serious work rate through out the match, fantastic player.
-
No problems xd
-
Moses was not playing well out of position so I was relieved to see hazard on..
-
Torres played well, but shuld have buried oscars pass Mata is just on form. Great movement, two well taken goals. Pls teach torres how to finish Oscar could have had a goal and two assists, if they allowed his goal and if torres scored his one on one pass from oscar. Moses was terrible, shuld never play on the left. He's not used to it Lampard did well Ramires is like a new signing, our box to box midfielder we have bn searching Luiz shuld stop hoofing the ball. Nice freekick Cahil good Ashley cole, pls we can't let him go. Best leftback in the world Ivanovic okay Mikel calmed down our game wen he came on Hazard comin on for moses was a let off. Why wasn't torres in the box during mata's goal. Was disapointed to find ivanovic in his striker position and not torres he should stop that.
-
I had this feeling you know. Barcelona bought ibrahimovic and sold him because it didn't let messi get better. They bought villa and converted him from a striker to a winger. At any other club he won't be wasted in a wings, his goal tally has dropped drastically. C ronaldo was the main man for man utd. Even for madrid, u can see he doesn't defend to waste stamina and alonso and khedira cover for him. But they know ronaldo is their most crucial player in a counter attack and have set their system to suit that. I always imagined a situation where chelsea played barca's false 9 system, with mikel as busquets, Lampard as xavi Oscar as iniesta Moses as sanchez Mata as pedro Hazard as messi Mikel Lamps. Oscar Moses. Hazard. Mata But most times, it has more to do with the playing style of the team and buying players to suit the style.
-
I understand you. Oscar didn't play to his usual standards. I'm not denying it. But nobody else can provide chelsea with defensive cover and be good enough to give good passes for attack. (Lamps is too slow now) If oscar doesn't exaust his stamina defending a faster arsenal, then he will have the extra energy to be effective as mata in attack. All I'm saying is that his attacking productivity was sacrificed to close down arteta. Don't say the whole team marked arteta bcos mikel can't leave the back and come foward just to mark arteta so stop saying the whole team prevented arteta, even dimatteo said it, it was a man marking on their playmaker like pirlo. It was totally oscar that made sure arsenal don't pass to arteta. This caused them to go through the wings and they couldn't hold possesion. Just look at how they played mancity at the etihad and u'll see what I'm saying. They possesed the ball in the middle and were able to create chances. But since we forced them to go to the flanks to lose possesion, we held unto the ball more, making them have fewer attacks. Dimatteo will field the defensive line up that he used for qpr if he didn't realise oscars workrate. His more defensive role exausted him from being more attacking, that's what happened. Come on, arteta had an average of 95 touches per game (the highest in the league) before chelsea and against us he had 65, pls Give credit where it is due.
-
What I'm saying is that, he did exactly what dimatteo wanted from him, mark out arteta so that arsenal chances on target are reduced. That was why they were force to attack only from the wings instead of through arteta. Like how will they pass to him if he was always marked by oscar. I'm sure if he didn't score in the juventus game u would say he played bad and vidal ran through him. It wasn't his best game, but he did well. He did the task RDM gave him - "mark out arteta" Mata and hazard are more attacking and oscar balances that, FACT.
-
Oscar did the dirty job that we couldn't do against athletico madrid. Marking the playmakers so he helped just like with pirlo. His passing accuracy was still among the best in the match. Arteta averaged 95 touches per game before chelsea and oscar reduced it to 64. That's how chelsea could keep possesion and reduce arsenal chances. The only thing left is 1. more cohesion between oscar-mata-hazard, 2. better runs from the counter attacks, and 3. more positive holding of the ball from torres without losing it everytime and we will have a playing system finally.
