There's nothing wrong with the formation, what's wrong though is the players we lack for it. 4231 needs a midfield creator and two fast people on the wings. Bayern, dortmund and realmadrid all use this formation and they are in the semifinals of the champs league.

With lamps leaving, we will be light in midfield. We lack strength in that position and romeu is injury prone. With these reasons I suggest we need two players for the pivot. 1. Gundogan - experienced in a big team and is a very good playmaker 2. Diame - a yaya toure esque player in my eyes. He is a stronger, goal threat and more intelligent ramires. His presence in there will make us to stop being bullied. His release clause is 3m pounds. Surely a bargain. We need a winger too for squad depth, so that mata and hazard can rest and we can still win a match. Then for the stiker, cavani is my top choice but for money wise, we'll pull in lewandowski instead. We need a striker to make a statement and put some fear into defenders. I would love to know how many assists he got except the corners and freekicks too. I read a stat that silva has more key passes per game so maybe mata has the edge in assists from corners which isn't bad.

I think I'm not against buying falcao, I'm tired of our front four throwing away clear chances. We don't have anyone in our team that will surely score 90% of his clear chances. Finishing games off will become easy with a proper goal scorer. Just imagine it was torres in lewandoski's position against madrid, he won't even score one of those chances, he doesn't run into the box, he can't trap the ball and his shooting is off
