There you go, we have failed to integrate our youngsters once again...

In my opinion, Jose cant be blamed for Mata's exit because he is only doing what he thinks is best for the club! I mean, in all his interviews he has spoken highly of Juan and I even felt a sense of guilty for letting such a good player on the bench. However, there is nothing anyone could have done. Managers always have their perfered style and Mata-Jose just dont go well together. It is unfortunate, but it is true! It was never going to work and the best for both parties is to just part ways, unfortunately... Now, if I were him (especially if he really wants to be here long term), I would never give United a chance of rebirth. I would talk to Mata and say you still need him and ask for him to wait until the Summer. Juan is not the kind of player who would cause trouble over it! I would use him in the 6 remaining months and then work out a better deal with a better team...

Mata's transfer will put pressure on Oscar, but people will have to be patient... Most of Oscar's problem is that he isnt used with the pace and lack of space the Premier League offers (or in this case, doesnt). In Brazil he played in huge pitches, wilth Florida grass (which is at least twice slower) and against a lot less talented defenses! Most of the times we see him making mistakes or giving up the ball is because he hasnt quite figured the time/space he has to make good plays or get rid of the ball. However, we did already see flashes of brilliance and I am sure he will get over those obstacles and show us the Ballon D'Or he trully is! (not to count the glues the team together a lot better than anyone we have)

To be fair, I would prefer us to give one of our own players a chance than to sign a new player to be our 5th choice AM... Not that any of our players is a world beater, but with the limited amount of minutes one would have, I prefer to utilize one of Moses, Piazon, Traore, Atsu or even young Hazard!

All the things you said about all the possible clubs that could offer us a bid for Mata is untrue, but I am not going to make a thousand word post just to give detailed answers to each and every club that could target and afford Mata. We dont need all those clubs to be looking and bidding for him, we would only need ONE! Stop with this bullshit of "who would want a squad player that didnt go to the World Cup", it is pathetic. Mata can regularly start on most top clubs in Europe, just because it didnt work out in Chelsea it doesnt mean he is all of a sudden useless. Rooney was a squad player last season, Gotze is a squad player for Bayern and Fabregas is a squad player for Barcelona! Does that mean they are not worth a ton of money just because they are currently not starting for their clubs? PLEASE! The probability of one of those teams (that do indeed have the caliber to sign a 30mi player like Mata) is at least above 50%. About the deal: 37mi pounds is excellent, the buyer is horrible and the timing couldnt have been worse. 1 pro and 2 cons. End of discussion! EDIT: And even if we ended UP selling him for only 26-27mi for someone outside of England, it would be better than selling him to ManUtd in the current situation...
-
I usually "defend" that Moyes isnt doing such a horrible job because their squad is actually very bad and he cant do much with the players he has. However, I got to admit he is making it hard for me to maintain my position! I am starting to think he is indeed as bad as people say!

All your questions are pretty easy to answer, one doesnt even need to think much... Clubs that might go for Mata in the summer? PSG, Monaco, Real, Atletico, ManUtd, Inter, etc. PSG needs a CAM, Pastore and Lucas arent being able to get the job done and there are a lot of rumours about them leaving or being loaned out. Monaco might want Mata if they lose Falcao or they could even workout a trade + money deal if we were interested. Real fans (I have family in Madrid) want a CAM to replace Ozil and maybe Di Maria (which can leave RM) and he is Spanish. Atletico might have a lot of cash if they sell Costa, Koke or Turan and they actually do buy replacements for the players they lose. Inter has a new owner, new manager and no quality midfielders, they could be inclined to offer a cheeky 30mi bid. Etc. About ManUtd, you said they are already overly desperate just with the fear of losing UCL. How do you think they will be if they DO actually miss the top 4? Yes, super desperate! This excuse that we would only be able to sell Mata in the summer for 20mi is absolutely ridiculous. Although I agree we wouldnt be able to get the 37mi we have right now, we would easily be able to get 30mi or so. And for Chelsea, losing 7mi in a better deal with a non-rival is better than to handle Mata to Manchester and Moyes...
-
Mourinho is doing a very good job so far, I dont blame him for Mata!
-
How about do all of that and sell Mata to a different team in the summer?
-
I completely disagree! I honestly think there would be clubs desperately enough to bid 30mi or so (not 37, but close enough). Even United would be more desperate if they miss UCL! But that is just a feeling and we will have to agree to disagree because there is no way one can convince one another...
-
I not only have thought about it, I am almost certain he wants to go (not that I have inside info). However, Mata is not the player that would cause trouble due to a 6 months wait... We are only selling him because ALL the parties want this deal to go through. I highly doubt our board actually tried to sell Mata to anyone. If they did, I bet other clubs would have showed interest in him! And to your answer, yes. We should keep him until the end of the season so everybody can think through a deal better than in a rushed January transfer. We still have huge games until the end of the season, you know? Hazard - Oscar - Willian cant play in the high level we need them to twice a week until May or so! In an ideal world, we would: 1) keep Mata; 2) utilize him every now and then in games where our starters cant play; 3) only sell him to a non-rival after the season is over and all our loanees are available to replace him (Piazon, Moses, etc)... It is not such an impossible plan!
-
For the tenth time, I dont think we shouldnt sell Mata. I actually think he must go! However, this is not the team nor the time to sell him! Anyways, we better agree to disagree or things will take a course I dont want it to...
-
What the fuck are you on about? Read all the stupid "Oscar vs Mata" and "Who should be the CAM" types of threads and see who I voted/defended. Start participating in the forum before accusing other people of opinions they dont even have! The problem is that some people always think Chelsea does the right thing and nobody can disagree or contest our board/manager. But it isnt like that! Dont try to convince me that selling Mata to United in the middle of a difficult season we already sold KDB is a good deal, because it isnt. In fact, I am the one trying to look beyond the 37mi for a squad player...
-
Have you thought we might not be doing any of these two things and actually doing a bad bit of business? Good business is not only about money...
-
So...whoever shares your opinion and agrees with your is a true supporter, while whoever disagrees with you is a glory hunter and doesnt love Chelsea?
-
No Alex, it is exactly the word I was looking for! How do you think a GIF of Mourinho celebrating (which is legendary btw) is supposed to sound like? The only answer I can think of is that you are happy about the deal. Then to post you are not happy is very contradictory.... I agree the fee is excellent, we couldnt ask for more! However, I disagree that in the summer we wouldnt get huge offers for him. It is not just United that are desperate. Depending on this season results and transfers, there are a handful of teams that could want Mata. Even United could return with a 35mi or so offer for Mata in August (especially if we ask them to wait until the end of the season). I understand United is very desperate, but who said they wont be in the Summer? Who said PSG wont want a great CAM to service Cavani (which they dont have) for next season (since Ibra might be leaving)? There would indeed be plenty of teams for us to sell Juan in the next transfer window. Even if they dont reach 37mi, selling him for 30mi or so for a team in another country would be much better (imo) I do agree with you on that one. I am of the opinion Mata should go. It will be better for both sides! However, I totally disagree it should be done like that. Selling a great player on the middle of a competitive season and right after already weaking the AM postion by letting go of KDB. Dont forget we still have UCL, EPL and FA Cup to worry about!
-
Right on the money! Be that a different club, different time or different player, this deal would have been much better...
-
For you to post that Mourinho meme and then say you are not happy is pretty hypocritical! I agree 37mi for Mata isnt a bad deal (although considering the timing of it, I cant say it is a good deal either). But that doesnt mean we should celebrate just because of the numbers... Mata has put a LOT of smiles in your face during those 2 years, so for you to treat him like that is damn ungrateful. You could have just posted that you agree with the deal and wish him good luck (or not, considering it is United) and said thank you. It wouldnt look like a United fan jumping around! EDIT: Before you post those fabricated quotes such as "no player is bigger than the club", I wasnt even a Mata "defender" (if you want to call it like that). But I do appreciate the things he has done for this club and I am hating to see him going to a club I despise and that drastically needs quality players. We could have very well waited for the summer!
-
I dont think selling Mata for 40m pounds (or whatever) is a bad deal, even if it is Manchester Utd we are talking about. I just think the timing of it is horrible... 1. We already sold KDB and we now 'only' have 5 AMs for 3 starting positions. Selling Mata will leave us with only one direct substitute. We would basically go from "over-depth" to "under-depth". We have to remember CFC is still fighting in three very difficult fronts - EPL, UCL and FA Cup. 2. Manure desperately need a guy like Mata and that may very well be the difference between Moyes failing and a top 4 spot! Despite being a rival, why should we sell him to them if they didnt accept our Rooney bid? Can you imagine how much better we would be with Rooney instead of Torres/Eto'o? If I were Chelsea I would either wait until the summer or offer a trade deal for Rooney (if we still want him and if he really wants to quit United like the media rumors suggest).
-
Maybe they think we wouldn't want to deal directly with a rival! Not that I think this would be the case, but it is very common in places like Italy, Spain and Brazil when big rival clubs want to sign players for one another. Basically to avoid fights and what not...
-
Exactly! But like Special Juan said, reading the stupid arguments in here, one would lead to conclude he was already sold...
-
Did any updates come out about his supposed transfer to United?
-
So, just a lot of twitter bullshit or was there really a bid from Chelsea for Luke Shaw?
