Makes you wonder what sort of tests were implemented before the £50m signing, if any. Simple ones like does he have the same pace ? Would prefer Paul Furlong at the moment

Taken from comments section of the Guardian match report on todays game. Dear Chelsea Management, It may be difficult for you to truly grasp what it feels like for an ordinary Chelsea fan who so here it is: i. No matter how painful it may be to admit it given the massive acquisition cost, but Torres simply does not belong in a Chelsea shirt. It is IMPOSSIBLE to see how he can suddenly re-emerge as a world-class player after being a truly mediocre player for a couple of seasons. His performance (or lack of) in matches is a total drain on the rest of the team and until Chelsea actually has a forward line that can put pressure on defenses, the rest of the team will continue to suffer. ii. No coach can fix issue highlighted above. Firing Di Matteo and replacing him with Benitez is laughable because Di Matteo understood the issue (when he benched Torres at Juventus) and he was fired for trying to deal with it. The message that the Chelsea management has sent to coaches is that Torres must be played (as a starter no less) and that is ultimately damaging to the team. Only a truly empowered manager can take Chelsea through the right path, and it starts with understanding that Torres is the problem, rather than the solution. iii. The acquisition of Mata, Oscar, Hazard, Marin and Moses suggested that Chelsea was interested in a more entertaining and free-flowing style; however, Rafa Benitez seems to have decided that getting the ball to Torres by direct long balls is more important. Regardless, Torres is not Drogba and such an approach is certainly not working. It is neither entertaining nor attractive. Chelsea used to be a team with a non-entertaining style that won important matches. Then it became an entertaining team that lost some important matches... and now it is a confused team that can't seem to win any matches. iv. It is hard to imagine what Benitez was thinking when he took out two of the more productive players in today's match against West Ham. Why does he think that Oscar, Mata and Hazard can not be on the field at the same time? And why did Moses need to be substituted? He was having a very, very good match. It is hard for Chelsea fans to warm up to Benitez when he makes somewhat erratic tactical decisions. v. Buy Falcao... Buy Lewandowski... Buy ANYBODY that will instil fear in opposing defenses who must currently be rejoicing whenever they see Torres on the Chelsea team sheet. Regards, A deeply saddened and frustrated Chelsea fan

Come On the Chels !! Fuck off rafa !

Yup many confuse the Ranieri signings with Mourinhos' success. -Duff, Bridge, Cole, johnson, Cech, Robben, Gallas, Crespo, sniff Mutu sniff, Makalele -all brought in by Ranieri. Mourinho is a great motivator and one for making players believe in themselves-which is what you want really. Oh and 2 for every position, which needs to be adhered to now.

Very true. The irony and one of the things I hate most about all of this is the division it's caused amongst the fans. But let's not forget that all of us are only here and so passionate about our views, because we all love the club; and it's because we care that emotions run so high. Any criticism given on here to Roman/Benitez etc. is not anti-Chelsea, because WE are Chelsea - and the fans care in all honesty, more than any suit or marketing man spouting rhetoric
-
I dont think I have ever felt so apathetic towards the club at present. Anyway I can get mildly excited about the pikeys Saturday, because its the fans mantra -''next game, next season'' etc. Its this drug that keeps people coming back and allows people to make money out of football. We know the board have total disdain for the fans, yet they fail to recognise they are nothing without us. I'd love there to be a game at SB and no one turns up. On the pitch -big yawn-worst home run since 2002. No fire, no leadership,-the next goal will more than likely be a Terry header from a set piece.....

RDM was/is a Chelsea idol (legend is too over used ) and a poor start is no reason to sack him, though with the muppets in charge it was on the cards. Some will never accept Tubby regardless of whether he pulls a few wins together and that is a fact. From the last seven managers who have won the Champions League during the last nine years; Roman has sacked three of them, has just employed one with a view to getting rid of him to bring in another one, leaving only Ferguson & Rijkaard. A byproduct of this circus has highlighted something I always thought anyway -how the role of managers is greatly over rated -and is equalled or even bettered, by having a leader on the pitch.

Rafael Benitez's début: food for thought
Fulham Broadway replied to SeB's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Excellent analysis Seb. I think you should manage the team when Fatty is sacked. I was so tempted to moderate your title to . Rafas Benitez Debut: Food. -
Point taken Sheva However the early careers are starkly contrasted, 2008-2009 at Franchise FC - finished third in League One and missed out on promotion in the play-offs 2009–2011 at West Brom - promoted to the Premier League, then sacked about three months after guiding them to the Top Four, albeit now 17th after a run of 13 defeats in 18. 2012 at Chelsea - wins the Champions League and FA Cup, then sacked after 3 defeats in 18, with the team in 3rd place If Benitez was starting in coaching nowadays, would he have ever had four or five chances at that age to keep proving himself at such a high level? I very much doubt it.

I think the FSW has been a bit lucky with this appointment, after lying on his chaise longue for 6 months quaffing paella. The success he did have at Valencia and then Liverpool was based around teams built by other managers and things started going stale as soon as his own players and ideas were instigated. And then, at Inter, he couldn't even get any success out of a team who had just won the Treble. Going back further, 1995–1996 at Real Valladolid - sacked after 2 wins in 23, with the club bottom of La Liga. 1996 at Osasuna - sacked after 1 win in 9, with the team struggling in the Segunda Divison. 1997–1999 at Extremadura - promoted to La Liga, then relegated after one season. RDMs record as an up an coming prospect positively shines in comparison, and just highlights how the clowns on the board are clueless

Apparently he's delighted that he can gain coaching experience at Chelsea..... So pleased we can educate him; it's not like we need top coaches at a top club

Chelsea lodge complaint about Clattenberg
Fulham Broadway replied to bababoom's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Oh this is why Clattenberg got off. Its fine for cops or 'officials' to say those things. All starts to make sense now http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-20510686 -
Chelsea lodge complaint about Clattenberg
Fulham Broadway replied to bababoom's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Exactly. Why should the club apologise , they were just backing some of our players. Ramires, even now is adamant about what he heard All this media love in that CFC should apologize to him, well if CFC were wrong then yes he should receive an apology, however Clattenberg was clearly wrong on two accounts, sending off Torres and allowing the off-side goal to stand, will he apologize to CFC? Will he fuck -
Agree K, doesnt help the results at all but I understand the sentiment Quality Booooage yesterday

RAFAEL Benitez will don blackface during his time at Chelsea in a bid to reduce abuse from fans and players. It’s the first ever diplomatic use of boot polish Benitez believes that becoming the league’s first minstrel-manager will be so confusing to everyone that they will be too scared to criticise him in case that makes them racist or black, or a black racist. Benitez said: “I’m hoping to baffle the fans into stopping their booing by slapping on boot polish and answering all future questions in a thick Jamaican accent. “At the very least it’ll make them think I’m not the guy who hated their guts whilst at Liverpool as they’re an easily-confused bunch. “I also expect the players will start telling reporters that some of their best friends are me, so that will help training sessions go a bit more smoothly.” He will further wrongfoot the team by playing only reggae played by white performers such as UB40 on the team bus and travelling with his father, who has been dressed up as a Sikh. Benitez added: “If this fails I can always go back to the old schtick of pretending to be a paranoid lunatic with delusions of grandeur that kept Liverpool fans entranced for nearly six years.” The Spanish beard model has been criticised by supporters for his incendiary comments about how he believed they could win the Champion’s League.

The sacking of RDM, and the way it was done, was just wrong in my opinion and loads yesterday had the same sentiment However looking back I was the same when Ranieri was appointed and Vialli was sacked. I was totally fucked off and ashamed to say how I cunted of the tinkerman. Lovely bloke, top manager as it turned out ( even though Bates was way out of order-he hates people richer than himself). Some dismissals however, are totally unwaranted such as replacing Jose with Grant With hindsight no one likes change, and to attack Benitez personally is detrimental to the team.(FSW 'll be sacked soon enough anyway).

Disgusting way to be treated. RDM - Socks over knees. Boro home impromptu celebration. Peroxide hair Sheff Weds away. Golden tanned thighs. Dedicates 43 second goal to blind sister. League Cup semi screamer against Arsenal at SB. Stockholm. Kissing Vialli and Zola. Aston Villa. Old Wembley. History. St Gallen. Leg shatters in triplicate. Career ends in a Chelsea top. 2012. Galvanises dysfunctional mob. We won 5-1 Wembley. FA Cup Final: Chelsea players throwing Bobby in the air in celebration in front of the ecstatic fans. Napoli. Benfica. Barcelona. Munich. His respectful, articulate dealings with the British pr*ss. The way he and Eddie jumped, hugged and spun in utter jubilation after Torres rounded Valdes. His defiant, joyful, clench fisted mental shake of the European Cup. The Blue and White ribbons of Chelsea Football Club ruffled his cheeks as his victorious roar joined with the celebrating thousands in the warm, Munich air. Thanks Robbie !!

No Piers, Abramovich has supplied millions of pieces of paper called money, acquired from the Russian people, that has enabled 8 managers to buy expensive players that have gelled together, to produce at times mouth watering football and trophies. Although his club at seems like one of his yachts, with a captain that he sacks and gets another at will, there is an old saying -'do not bite the hand that feeds you'. For that reason we need to swallow our pride if we want 'brand Chelsea' to continue to be succesful.
