  1. I have always appreciated his passion and how he sacrifices everything to live and breathe football non-stop. Certainly, his squad is not that good but they spent seirous money on average players. Atletico choke way too often for my liking. Plus he got schooled big time by Flick and Nageslmann big time. His football is a pain to watch 90% of the time. And identity-wise he is most similar to conte IMO. If we were to hire him, it would be a step backwards given the money we have invested in attacking talent again.
  2. Atleti really are a shadow of their former glory. Another absolute dogshit performance in CL
  3. Kai, Puli and Timo are all more inlcined to be finishers than creators. Only Ziyech is a true creater within our attackers. That is the problem. Given our cms create zilch we need a lot of creativity to come from the fullbacks which makes us so vulnerable. On the other hand if the fullbacks stay back we are toothless offensively. I really would prefer Kai to become a complete and pure no. 10 like Ronaldinho or Zidane. He surely has the tools. When he played for Bayer tho he was most prolific as a LW bc he would play off the ball more and pop up in dangerous positions. Chelsea fans have not really warmed to that idea either, he lacks a bit of zappiness to be a winger despite his pace. The thing I want from him frist and foremost is to bea bit more snappy, play with a bit more vigor. More aggressive on and off the ball. take more chances, try shooting more often. IIRC vs Sevilla and Utd he did not try a single shot on target apart from that one poor header. He is clinical usually as soon as he pulls the trigger but he needs to pull it way more often. I dont want him to become a player like Özil who have all the skill in the world but shit it away by trying to look to elegant and not putting up with the grit and vigor that makes you a great footballer.
  4. we are so used to having a shit goalies, that a good but not worldclass showing from a good but not (yet) world class goalie gets usover the moon. That being said, the decision to go for him over a more flashy, younger gk likeOnanan or that guy from Lille looks smarter by the day. Mendy just looks like he cant be fuzzed, he seems a mentally very strong and stable guy. He scolds zouma and the other defenders when they fuck sth up but he doesnt go crazy or hides in a shelllike Kepa does.He also wasnt affected by his strange howler with thatleft footed pass. He might be the perfect mid-term goalie signing. Long may he stay healthy. Saves yesterday apart from the last one should be expected from any goalie, yet we would have lost 2-0 with kepa in goal. For that alne Mendy deserves the praise he gets.
  5. Also our midfield is just plain useless. Kante has fallen of a cliff and looks terrible every game. Jorginho is only suited to very specific situations. Kovacic or Mount are also lightweight and get overrun. Teams simply cut through us whilst we struggle to get balls upfield quickly enough. The team looks totally disjointed . The defence is performing miracles lately tho. I predicted all it takes is to have Mendy+Chilwell playing together to make us win clean sheets and I was right. But it is worrying we can’t really deal with any pressure applied in midfield.
  6. One of the worst games of footy I ever saw. It feels like Lamps is just sticking the finger to those who say he can’t coach a team to defend. also absolutely not surprised that pen was not given. I mean it’s Varchester. Abysmal call. Win this pen and we win the game easily. Var never were gonna let this happpen. This Corruption stinks to heavens.
  7. Tbf pulisic was begging for that injury when going for a lost ball vs the thug mctominay
  8. Like watching paint dry. Back 5 should be banned
  9. As is ole. A draw at OT would be alright
  10. Pulisic had two good chances could have scored one
  11. We were clearly the better team and should have gotten the most obvious pen ever. If this shit is allowed then we can as well play rugby or wrestling
  12. Back 5 needs to be banned. Terrible lineup but at least Mount is out
  13. Before he moved to striker he really had a poor first touch iirc. i remember lots of examples of players improving their basics when they are old. Lampard improved his heading technique substantially in his late 20ies, Jamie Vardy really hit his peak in every aspect but esp reading of the game and positioning aged 29-31, Wayne Rooney became a way better passer in the later stages of his career, Messi despite his absurd talent only became a free kick god late in his peak years, Mirsolav Klose was Never quickly but actually became quicker in his early 30ies bc he started workingng with a dedicated sprinting coach. You can improve everything that you have not extensively practised before until you hit your mid 30ies IMO.
  14. When Michal Antonio can drastically improve his first touch at 30, surely Werner can too
  15. It was an absolute beauty. to control the ball and open the body up to get that shot through 4 players. He has always been a good goal scorer but today was probably his best day so far.
  16. Little Paddy Bamford is finally coming good. He was always a talented striker, really happy for him he can perform in the PL now. Still no regrets about selling him. He is 27 now and took ages to become consistent.
  17. The problem is, if you play with a no 10 your offense is screwed if the no 10 does not perform. You can’t afford your playmaker wandering out of the game. On the rare occasion teams managed to mark Lamps completely out of the game like Liverpool did in the 2005 and 2007 cL semis, we looked really ordinary. The no 10 needs to be backed and the players work for him to get his passes into the danger area. This means if we now fire lamps as manager we need to make sure that his successor has a similar vision otherwise we will never get maximum out of our biggest signing
  18. That might be correct but the game today is not really anything to go by. Still even without vvd Liverpool still have excellent defensive players. The best fullbacks in the league and matic and Gomez are more than decent cbs as well. Surely better than all our cbs but one. Yet the allowed 3 100% chances you would expect a pro team to score whilst not creating shit at all themselves and needed tagkificonto score the most needless of of all time for them alos Klipps Liverpool was just as poor in his first 2 years as we are now. He needed to completely remould Liverpool before they came good. The Klopp comparison is not really helpful at all
  19. damn maguire and pogba not starting seriously strengthens them. Both take eternities on the ball and have been dispossessed by pressing even from poor teams like Crystal Palace or Westham. On the other hand they dont really get the ball up to Fernandes and their pacehwores up front without Pogba.Mctominay/Matic/fred are hopelessly average passers and not exactly press resistant either. Lets hope Matic has an extreme off day like he always used to for us in big games.
  20. I guess a Rice-Zakaria double pivot would give us immense protection and still be somewhat balance. Rice is a crisp passer who usually distributes the ball right after he wins it and Zakaria is basically a tall Kante who can carry the ballforward, roam around and destroy opposition counter attacks.
  21. It is maybe lampard's greatest strength to identify and persuade players to sign. This is why even if he is an average coach, he can be an asset to the club in a management capacity. All other coaches have had quite a few terrible targets, esp Mourinho and Conte with their obsession of physical workhorses. for Lampard signings you definitely see what how talented they are. Chilwell indeed always was known for his offensive prowess buti really was surprised by how perceptive and proactive he is defensively. Also a lot stronger and better in the air than he looks. If Rice has the same impact and also outperforms my expectation once he joins next summer which is a given if Lampard stays I guess, I can actually see the 4-2-31 working at some point
  22. tbf not only were we offensively poor, Sevilla defended better than any side we have faced all year. We still managed to make a couple of decent openings and should have scored one of the Werner chances and the zouma header. If we become more clinical and keep the defensive solidity from today we should be fine. I dont like how we always need to focus on the negative. Until now I would not have considered us capable to shut completely down an excellent side like Sevilla without completely parking the bus, playing just one DM. Everyone really put in a shift defensively, esp RJ marshalled Ocampos very well, whilst Chilwell covered upmost of Zouma's fuck ups. Maybe it is just me but I can see improvement even if it is just baby steps.
