True. As uninspiring as that midfield was vs Westham, Manure and Leeds, they were quite assertive vs Everton. It is not just the missing players, it is the collective confidence that has suffered as a consequence of our deteriorating play once Kante and Chilwell are out. Kind of knockon effect. We dont win the ball as early, we don't get behind the defence as often and the team starts to get more nervous, we start conceding goals again and everything breaks away. Add to that the covid chaos, fatigue, the hectic schedule. Every game begins with a huge mental burden already. Those players are still just humans, albeit for the money they get they should be superhuman but just never will be. Esp team athletes are often a lot more empathetic, dependent and sensitive to group vibes than individual athletes who can rely on just themselves and more often can produe the mental resilience to turn things around. This shows the importance of real leaders in a team.

He is slow tho. We need real pace again. pace, resilience and quality on the ball. Timo's and Pulisic's pace is too often useless cos they cant stay on their feet when shoved. Agree with @MoroccanBlue. They have to fit our system. Hard workers with good first touch who always know what to do with the ball before they receive it and act on it. As much as i like ziyech's and mount's attitude and workrate, they just drag it on too long. The others are even worse. we rely so much on dribbling, yet have no elite dribbler on the team. But nothing is a guarantee. Just look at Jadon Sancho. He was all that in Bundesliga and cant get a game in PL. We are still paying the price for letting KDB and Salah go so easily. and will still be paying it for years. Sometimes what you need is closer than you think.

He is useless as a false 9. Even better as rwb. Would rather use him as a sub. But is a sub worth the fee? Can easily see us selling him for those 40m in summer probably time we buy some proven wc winger like chiesa. Tho there are very few of those

When Reece missed that one I knew it was gonna be a sad day. He has buried that exact Chance time and time again and was our talisman when we were on fir. But when Made is our most dangerous attacker you know shit has hit the fan

I don’t think we can improve with a new manager the squad is just full of okish players without real quality in attack. Only true wc players are Thiago, Kante and Mendy. The rest is inconsistent. TT allowed us to play out of our socks in the cl last season. But we were only decent in the league just as we are this season. The problems are the same as under Lampard. The wc coach has added a few cups and maybe 10-15 pts per season but we need to invest heavily in a better squad to be the best over a full season again.
