  1. they were lieing as well! me and my dad left just after Luiz' freekick - 85th minute - (due to travel problems you mentioned) and we went to fulham broadway, and we were going westbound and they said we should be ok. so we went down.... there were no delays. if anyhting Eastbound trains were running more often than the westbound ones! so what ever it was got sorted pretty fast, they told everyone to go to Earls Court when fulham broadway was infact running fine...
  2. I was there tonight, and despite a couple of boos for rafa at the start, the crowd was fantastic. loudest I've heard it in a while. Obvs went a but quiet once news of jueventus (cunts) got round. Was a really important win in my eyes. We needed that for the players and the fans. Nords were pretty bad to be fair, but least we wanted to attack and we were more dynamic. Was funny/good to see luiz in midfield. He was full of confidence tonight as well, he had a great game. Wasn't that special but having him there makes our defence solid. and takes the pressure off him when he wants to go for a run. Maybe won't see much of him there, but its good to know its an option. Torres actually tried for the full 90 tonight even when we were trying to lower the tempo to save energy! Hazard looked like the hazard we saw at the start of the season. Very enjoyable game imo! Europa league: I personally am annoyed we havent qualified for the champions league, but now we are in The europa league, I think its a great chance for our youngsters and fringe players to prove themselves and gain some European experience. So I'm more than happy to be in it and genuinely look forward to watching the games. Hopefully we start to be more positive as a club and get some decent results in the next few games

  5. Just out of curiosity, does anybody think we are going to spend big this January? and if so, can you seeing it be large amounts on 1 or 2 players, or spread out amongst 5 or 6 players? The Falcao rumours have died down (however im sure they will spark up again in January) and everyone seems to think we need a new DM so do people think we will splash out and top quality striker and top quality DM or are we just going to get an average DM and couple of average strikers and maybe a youngish CB...

  8. I read that Essien has returned from his loan at Madrid due to injury. is this true? anybody know anythign about the injury and if he is going to return to Madrid once he is fit or will he be staying? I think he would fit in well to the way Rafa plays.
  9. I would happily like to see a new striker come in at January and Lukaku to stay at west brom. I have been watching Lukaku at west brom and his improvement is rapid. he still has a lot to do and i think after his loan spell at west brom has finished he should go out on loan for another half season or maybe full season to either west brom or a different club where he will be guarenteed to start every game in the premier league. He's still young and looking very promising. My only worry si that we manage to keep him. Say we buy someone crazy in January like Falcao and we buy another average young striker as well for cover, i can see Lukaku wanting to run off to another club. if we lose him i will be gutted. Would love to see a compilation video of Romelu at WB. all his highlights and some of his bad parts because from what ive seen, the good movements are way more frequent than the bad!
  10. Cant see Danny and Suarez getting on at Liverpool. Mind you Danny seems not really get on with anyone when he's on the pitch. He apparently is requesting that he is only played through the middle, if thats the case i dont see him being in a better position than he is here. Suarez will always be chosen ahead of Sturridge, He's got a better chance getting time on the pitch here because Torres is playing worse compared to Suarez and its just a matter of time before torres is dropped. If he is sold, at least we can be certain of us buying a new striker. recalling Lukaku is an option, but i think he needs a bit more experience before he is ready to lead us.
  11. This is the game that has hte potential to reboot our season. I expect us to smash them. we are better than them all over the pitch. we won 4-0 away from home against them. this will and should be no less than a 3-0 win. a comfortable dominant win. and hopefully Shakthar have too much pride and nail Juventus, and we will qualify, if we smash the Nords and we qualify confidence will be replenished. I really hope the fans have got over it now. the fans are having a huge contribution to our recent failures, we need to all get behind the club so we can bring back this season. I'm going to this game tomorrow and I for one will not have any part in any negative booing or chants, im fully behind the club and i want to win games again!

Mainly for his creation of the physical and mental health thread. i think its a great idea and its a shame it has died down, but amongst his other inputs, I just liked that idea and thought he deserved a mention here - anybody trying to promote good health and well being is a hero in my books. This is my first ever nomination, I havent been very active this month, tried to avoid it with all the stuff thats going on at the club and it has actually changed my opinion of some people in here after reading some peoples reactions! I can totally see why Peace and Rmpr are getting the votes. just thought I'd throw something new in the mixer.
  13. decent first half. second half was shocking. Torres was shocking (accept for hte assist, fair play). Moses was great, Mata was great andAzpi was great. we just fell apart in the second half. it was shocking. I think a new shape and formation should be tested out. Maybe Rafa was right about hte fitness of the squad. god knows whats going on, but it needs to be sorted out ASAP. Nords SHOULD be an easy game, its a chance for us to get back on form and build some confidence. however i think the fans have it in their power to destroy it. if we go there booing the team, we could lose that game too.
  14. We'll win this 1-0. and it'll be a penalty. they are too physical, and if Oscar/Mata/Hazard can just do one crafty run in to the box, we will get a penalty. I can see a different formation being used. Would like to see Sturridge/Moses upfront. Torres is done.
  15. Should be a win. Havent seen the game, not going to watch the full 90, just going to watch the highlights on MoD. A clean sheet is good. but we should be winning these games. not sure why bertrand started. could have just started Marin. I don't think the 4-2-3-1 is working for us. We really do need a striker in that formation. I think we need to see Moses a bit more, Hazard should be rested and Marin should get a run out. I expect to see changes at the weekend, i can understnad that Rafa has come in, and not been here long so is unlikely to make any drastic changes, but i think we need to see some drastic changes at the weekend. Cant wait to see the highlights.........
  16. Of course this season is fucked because the fans are unhappy. Because we are unhappy with recent events, we can't really give 100% blame to the club... its partyl us. its a horrible cycle. The fans are important, imagine being on that pitch hearing boos and having no support, as a player, that does not motivate you - you might say these are professionals, and its their job, but no matter who or what you are, if you are getting a negative reception and negative reinforcement... nobody performs well. We need to support the club. yes we arent happy with some of the choices the owner has made (and i agree) but we should back what has been done becuase theres nothign else we can do.. if you dont agree with whats gone on, like most (including me) then just suck it up, and support the team. If we get behind the team, our confidence will increase. we will not get results if we arent there to cheer them. OR we can carry on crying, have a shit season, and hope Roman is a little more rational with his decisions... but we all know he'll just do what he want, he's not changed since day one. So i say lets do our part and quit moaning. whats done is done, lets move on and win some fucking games.

No disrespect to RDM, but rafa was a lot more tactical solid. More experience though, when RDM is that age, hell be just as good.

Wikipedia claims mata is also 5ft 8. wikipedia also claims Hazard is 5ft 7. pretty sure mata is smaller than Hazard. anyone got a pic of them together??? Wiki also claims Hazard weighs in at 56kg. which is ridiculous! thats the weight of a 14 year old girl!
  21. Ya we are all short id say. im 5ft 7/8 and im a small guy. still a common height though. I believe 5ft 8 is the average height for a male in the UK, but that seems too short IMO. Mata is smaller than that though tekkers.

To be perfectly honest, when it comes to weight loss, a calorie is a calorie, but you can obviously gain a lot of vitamins and minerals if you get some of these calories from healthier foods. my advcie would to just not put too much pressure on your diet. as long as you consume less calories than you spend (which it seems as if you are) you will lose weight. just try and swap some foods for healthier options. Everybody is different, some people will find writing down what they eat and planning a diet too much for them and causing them to lapse and fail. some people find that the best way and they succeed. try out a few things: Write a food diary for a while, count calories, or just simply swap out some foods for a healthier option. See how it goes then decide whats right. In terms of your protein intake, dont panic! I believe (i may be a bit wrong, its been a few months since my last nutrition module!) 0.8g/kg/bm is hte reccomended intake. and this isnt only a reccomended intake for a normal person, but even for fairly active people. Your body mass is 160lbs, which is about 72kgs? meaning your reccomended intake for protein would be about 57grams. The problem with that calculation it assumes you are mostly built of muscle and have very little fat. if you tend to carry a bit of fat, then this 57grams is an over estimate. however i would go with the 57grams. if you are consuming double that, thats wasted calories, your body can't utilise it, you go in to a state of positive nitrgoen balance and your body has to waste time removing the nitrogen, converting it to fat to be stored then expelling the nitrogen (this expulsion of nitrgoen was what the studies suggested was fucking shit up in your body, its bullshit though). Simply, weight loss is easy.... but the hard part is the discipline and psychological determination. however, as it seems, you have nailed it! just keep what your doing and it will drop. if you want to drop it faster then try some of the things talked about. Also, in reply to the song that gets you pumped. i feel i should share my secret song. As bent, fucked up, stupid and gay it is, the beat in this song is the greatest thing i have at the moment and have been listneing to it for the last few weeks when lifting weights. its the fucking BALLS.   23. Decent thread. i tried doing something like this a while back but had nowhere near the amount of organisation as you did due to my lack of botherdnessness. Me:- Age: 22 Height: 5'7" Current Weight: 63kg (~10 stone/140lb) BMI: 21 Objective: Maintain/gradually increase muscle mass whilst improving Cardiovacular related fitness. Programmes: My own not very productive programme (will give details below of a typical week) Supplements: None Daily calorie intake: Hit around 3000ish a day give or take a couple of hundred. some days i may hit very low, rarely go over 3000 My typical week of training: Monday: Leg work out - use typical resistance machines for quads and hamstrings. do lunges with weight in hands and then some squat jumps with weights in hand (plyometrics) and Core. Tuesday: Chest, shoulders, Triceps and core. simple 45minutes session 2 chest exercises, 2 shoulder exercises one tricep exercise. normally 3 sets of 8-10 reps Wednesday: Interval Training (gym bike) 2 sets of 6 reps of 30seconds (try to hit a HR of 180bpm by the end of the 30seconds) with a 30 second rest. finish with some fatigue resistance training (3 all out 30 seconds, 3minute rest between) Thursday: 40minute Football match with about 1 n half hours casual kick around (I consider hte 40minutes a high intensity workout, and the kick around some fat burn). Friday: Upper Back, Biceps, Core (big core workout this session). do 3 back resistence machines, some shrugs, and biceps. 3 sets of 8 - 10 reps again for each. Saturday: This is usually similar to the wednesday session. I alter the intensity depending on how up for it im feeling, but tend to take it a bit easier this session. Sunday: 5-aside with the lads. consider it high intensity cardio workout. Thats what i try to do or plan to do. sometimes i add in extra little workouts. every 2 or 3 weeks i try to add in a purely eccentric exercise (especially if i feel i havent exercised something fully) which is the main type of exercise for strength building, unfortunately it tends to come with a few days of muscle soreness.... I should also point out, i gradually worked my way up to exercising everyday. a couple of years ago i just started exerciseing 3 times a week, then 4, then 5 etc. everytime i added a day, it took about 2 or 3 weeks for me ot naturally adjust my diet and rest etc to be able to feel energetic. id become very sluggish if i got it wrong. Tend to lower the intensity nad have a few rest days for 1 week after about 6/7 weeks of this routine. If you want any information on the specific exercise i do please do ask. To the music thing, i usually listen to what i like, obviously when im in the Gym i listen to some high tempo, hard hitting tunes. Normally a fair bit of metal, some heavy beated POP music. and most Recently, K-POP.... im hooked on that shit! its got some really strong beats in! Motivation: i dunno where mine comes from. at the moment im on a week off and ive done very little, but its usually friends. i go to the gym with friends, its quite a social thing for me so i guess thats my motivation. sometimes its when i am unhappy about something i go hard. for example, i was doing a period of intense weight trianing to gain some muscle, of course i naturally started to crave a lot of meats and cheese (thats what happens to me) and cheese was cheaper... inievitably along with the muscle came a nice layer of fat on my tummy. so that gave me the motivation to do a lot of fat burn stuff. In terms of Supplements i dont take any. i try and have a well constructed diet. Luckily for me ive been studying exercise and health science for the last 5 years. soon to graduate from the University of Exeter in it as well, so i read a lot of research, not only to do with exercise and exercise types, but also nutritional research. I DID take a protein supplement when my resistence trianing was high... until i read the research and was lectured on the topic: There is nothing wrong with taking the supplements and no risk (some studies say you can mess up your liver and kidneys, but thats a very small amount of studies claiming that, id ignore that), the problem with them is that there is no need for them. Unless you train 8 hours a day 5 days a week (typical elite athlete) you can get everything you need through a well balanced diet. the supplements will just be added calories if anything. Of course, if you dont have the time or money to be able to eat a well balanced diet, and if its easier for you to take supplements, then go for it. like i said, they do no harm, they just tend to waste money and can sometimes be extra calories you dont need. My only word of advice would be, if you are taking them, be sure you are using top quality products, brands you ahve not heard of or are 'cheap'/from a website oyu have not heard of are usually full of crap. and by crap, i mean they dont have what the claim to have in them. these companies do slowly get closed down, but there is A LOT of them. On another note, it might be worth noting the psychological effect of protein supplements. its like a kind of placebo effect. by taking it you are thinking and wanting to gain muscle, therefore when you go to the gym, you really do give it everything. and that is a postive effect. (to the guy that started this) from what it sounds like, you will achieve your goals. you seem very motivated nad in to it, and thats the main factor to these things. and its normally the hardest part. If you keep doing what you are doing you will be laughing. Plus you are still 17 and therefore still growing, thats always a great help when it comes to losing weight. and its also a great help for keeping it off. As i said, ive studied this for a long time now, and if you have any questions please do ask and i will do my best to answer them and advise you such as which workouts do what, or what you should do to achieve certain things. just ask
  24. Im excited. I know its stupid and over talked, but I do hope Torres shines. I've no doubt he will be happier under Rafa, and with that attitude he will feel secure and more confident. Torres anytime this week for me I think! look forward to the line up and the formation. I know its unlikely we will see a dramatic change as Rafa hasn't had much time (unless he has been lined up for this job for a while and working hard on it for a couple of weeks), but it'll be interesting to see any little changes in roles. I think im looking more at the performance rather than the result form this. I'd like to win it. and i think we can win it on a good day. But its too difficult to know how everyone will react to recent events.

To be honest, i really dont care that Rafa managed Liverpool before. at the end of the day is a proffesional just doing a job, and now he's hired for this club. dont get me wrong, i love the passion and the banter that comes with football, but i never take it too seriously. Those quotes from rafa, about us being rubbish fans, and not wanting to manage a club like us etc, was all to boost the fans of the club he was at then. we love it when a manager says stuff like that, but at the end of the day, they are just doing their job... I dont think he ever thought he'd be managing this club himself. but he is. Im going to support him. and to be honest (even though i didnt think RDM should have been sacked) i am pleased we've got him. he's possibly the best interim manager going at the moment. imagine having someone with that CV just being a caretaker manager. brilliant. I dont care what he's said and that he was manager of a club i really dislike, he's our manager now and his job is to win us trophies and I hope he does. I take all this back if we get relegated mother fucking scouse loving prick.
