PSV Eindhoven have admitted interest in Chelsea defender Khalid Boulahrouz after selling Manuel da Costa to Fiorentina yesterday. PSV chief Stan Valckx admits the Dutchman, along with Rennes stopper Petter Hanson, would be ideal replacements for the young Portugal international. "Boulahrouz and Hanson are good options, but - even on loan - are unattainable," said Valckx. "We are looking for another defender." Boulahrouz is currently on-loan at Sevilla, where he has seen little first team action.

Chelsea boss Avram Grant won't rule out making a new signing before the winter market deadline falls this week. He said: "We only have 13 or 14 players available. We want to rotate, we want to give players a rest but we have a very small squad now. "At the moment, I am not hoping to do any more business this January, but who knows?"

Leeds have confirmed Dennis Wise is set to leave the club to join Newcastle. Reports on Monday suggested Newcastle had targeted a move for Wise to be director of football at St James' Park. New Magpies boss Kevin Keegan is keen to have Wise in his new-look backroom team having worked with the player during his time as coach of England. The news will come as a massive shock to Leeds fans as they battle to win promotion from League One and they will now begin their search for a new manager Leeds confirmed that Wise will make the move to Tyneside on Tuesday after they agreed a compensation package for the former Millwall player/manager. Compensation "We have agreed a compensation package with Newcastle United for the services of our manager Dennis Wise and he will part company with the club on Tuesday January 29 after completing the preparations for our game at Southend United that evening," read a club statement. "Newcastle had approached us for permission to speak with Dennis on Friday and since then things have happened very quickly. "We will always be grateful to Dennis for the way he has turned things around at the club on the playing side and he goes with our best wishes for the future. "We are not prepared to comment on the inevitable speculation that will now follow about who will replace Dennis. That is not the way we do our business at this club."

So Mr Maradona has been wowing Joe Cole, and even taking part in a cross-bar challenge at the Chelsea training ground today. But just imagine if Diego was playing, at his full pomp, in 2008. By that I don't mean if he was wheezing around football pitches in his current state... I mean, imagine if that electric 25 year old from the 1986 World Cup was tearing around the Premier League. but how much do you think Chelsea would have to shell out?

Chelsea Will Get Best Out Of Me Says: Ivanovic
the wes replied to TrueChelseaBlue's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Avram Grant admits Chelsea fans must wait before seeing new signing Branislav Ivanovic in action. "He is a player that we followed for a long time, since he played in the Serbian Under 21 side in the European Championship," Grant told Chelsea's website. "When he played in Moscow, I saw him there also. He is a good player for now and also for the future because he is very young and can play in many positions on the pitch - and I welcome him. "He hasn't trained for many weeks because the Russian league finished and he is not in the squad for the moment." Ivanovic's last full game was in the first week in December. He joined Chelsea's training regime full time last week and the 23-year-old is working hard to catch up with his new team-mates. "I was training a lot on my own before coming here, but that is not the same as training with the team,' explained the player who has experience playing right-back, centre-back or defensive midfield. "I will try to reach my potential and then it is up to my coaches to decide what is the best position for me. "It is up to me to raise my level to the standard at Chelsea and I am trying my best to reach that level as soon as possible and to learn from them." -

Chelsea are said to be interested in further improving their forward line, with the arrival of Nicolas Anelka by no means the end of their transfer window exploits. Now, Palermo star Amauri could be their next target, with the Correire dello Sport claiming that the Blues have made an initial bid of £15m (20 million euros) for the Brazilian. However, such a move is unlikely to come to fruition just yet. The player's agent has declared that a number of clubs are watching his client, but with a view to a summer move instead of a winter one. That's been confirmed by the Sicilian club's sporting director, who has said that Amauri is going nowhere until June. Furthermore, outspoken Palermo president Mauricio 'Zampa' Zamparini is holding out for at least 25 million euros (£18.6m), with Juventus said to be tentatively willing to meet that valuation. Chelsea expect to make some big money from Didier Drogba's sale, which they believe should be enough to sign two top players if not one. Even otherwise, when they want someone, Chelsea have shown that money has never stopped them. Goal.com

Liverpool are said to be keen on Chelsea's Shaun Wright-Phillips and could include Xabi Alonso as part of the deal. Wright-Phillips has finally settled into life at Chelsea following a troubled start at Stamford Bridge and has become more of a first-team regular this season. The winger's form has caught the attention of Liverpool, who are reported to be lining up a swap deal involving Spanish star Alonso, but a deal looks unlikely for one of several reasons. The Blues will want to keep hold of the winger for starters, while Liverpool are set to lose Momo Sissoko to Italian giants Juventus and will not want to lose Alonso as well. Alonso himself may not fancy the move either after Liverpool accused Chelsea players of deliberately trying to get him booked in the Champions League semi-final first leg in 2005. http://www.eatsleepsport.com/articles/683554.html

Rugby Game To Be Played At The Bridge
the wes replied to middleoftheshed's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Chelsea boss Roman Abramovich has been told to forget about hosting a Russian league match in London. Marketing company IMG and FC Moscow had reportedly suggested playing their first 'home' match of the 2008 campaign against defending champions Zenit St Petersburg at Stamford Bridge in March. But the proposal angered the Russian FA, who refused permission for the match to be played outside the country. "The Russian Football Union (RFU) had the last word and they said no," FK Moscow president Yuri Belous told reporters after a meeting with RFU chief Vitaly Mutko. Mutko said: "I'm totally against this idea. It goes against all the principles of conducting our national championship. The Russian championship must be held in Russia, not England." http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/arti...amp;ito=newsnow -
