£10m is a lot of money to turn down

West Ham have put Wayne Bridge on their wish-list in a £10million double raid for Chelsea's back-up boys. England left-back Bridge is tired of playing second fiddle to Ashley Cole - and is ready to quit this summer. Hammers boss Alan Curbishley has already expressed an interest in Bridge, 27, who is keen to stay in London. Curbs has also lined up a move for Stamford Bridge midfielder Steve Sidwell, who has failed to gain regular first-team football at Stamford Bridge since last summer's move from Reading. Bridge has played fewer than half of Chelsea's matches since 2003 and was loaned out to Fulham to prevent him going rusty before the last World Cup.

Barcelona vice-president Ferran Soriano has revealed that the club is keen to extend Ronaldinho's current contract. The Brazilian star's future at Camp Nou has been the subject of intense speculation for the last few months as he has struggled for form and fitness. Milan and Chelsea have been strongly linked with a summer move for the former Paris Saint Germain ace, but Barca have repeatedly denied rumours of a transfer. And Soriano has explained that the club are interested in extending Ronaldinho's current deal, which expires in 2010, while revealing that they have received a number of bids for the 27-year-old. "We have rejected many offers from abroad," Soriano said. "The player is not for sale, and at the moment we are looking to add a new contract."

AVRAM GRANT has hailed John Terry as the "Bionic Man" after his incredible comeback from injury. The Chelsea skipper has been out since December with a fractured foot he suffered against Arsenal. But he could make his return TWO weeks ahead of schedule when the Blues take on Huddersfield in the FA Cup tomorrow. Blues boss Grant revealed: "He has surprised us all. Maybe he is the Bionic Man. "He heals very, very quickly and he will be in the squad tomorrow. "We haven't decided if he will play yet because each injury depends on the person. "But he is very strong, not just physically but mentally."

Chelsea Football Club are believed to be lining up potential replacements for Frank Lampard. Talks over the future of the England international have been placed on hold until the end of the season, yet reports continue to grow that the midfielder will be on his way during the summer window. Barcelona have long been linked with a move for Lampard whilst Juventus, who are coached by Claudio Ranieri who took him to Stamford Bridge, are said to be lining up an £8million move. Should the former West Ham United star leave the Londoners, it is believed that Avram Grant has targeted a £15million move for Roma star Daniele de Rossi as a replacement.

If you're not easily offended, check out this clip from (straight to DVD) Naomi Watts movie Eastern Promises. It shows Hollywood's portrayal of what happens after your typical Chelsea Vs Arsenal game, and well the makers have obviously never actually been to a game of football in their lives. Although it's taken out of context from the rest of the movie here, it's still pretty offensive to both clubs. WARNING please do not watch this clip if you're easily offended, it is a bit gory.

It`s been an open secret that this summer Avram Grant will be given significant amounts of cash in order to lay his mark on the squad that he has inherited from Jose Mourinho. Therefore, we should be expecting a lot of speculation and long dragging transfer sagas that could become as boring as waiting for a youngster to get into our first team (see how I`ve developed Soulja`s skill in bringing up another topic into the one discussed). To cut a long story short, I`ve listed my most preferable transfer ins and outs that if would happen, can make me proudly say that we have the strongest squad in the world (as well as making me jump over my couch in joy). * These transfers are based on the assumption that Didier Drogba has found out that neither Barca nor AC Milan were seriously interested in him and hence admitted that he has never said that he wanted to leave, but was in act 'misquoted`. OUTs: - (A little bit unexpected) Tal Ben Haim - never looked confident when he played. The only fans who were pleased with his signing were the opposition fans because they know how good he`s at peacefully inviting others to get pass him. Even as a free transfer, he`s still a bad deal because we should have got paid for taking such a player. Paulo Ferreira - one person who will definitely not be pleased with that is Mrs. Merlin, but I feel he has nothing more to offer although whenever he was asked to fill in he did a decent job (but, decent isn`t enough). Steve Sidwell - he was a good player at Reading and one who I thought would be a decent buy given that he was a free transfer, but he failed to shine and one reason for that is his attitude on the pitch. He just hides away from his team mates whenever they are looking to pass the ball. He has been greatly intimated by our "big players". Florent Malouda - a player who I didn`t want to come in the first place and one who hasn`t been able to show his best form. He had a promising start but then faded away. He`s not at the top of my outs list as I feel there is more to come from him, but at the age of 27 (28 in June) I`m not so willing to give him time. Claudio Pizarro - another free transfer that was allowed to Jose. Well, he`s not Chelsea material. Some of you might argue that he wasn`t given enough chances, but we can`t give time to players approaching their 30s. He doesn`t possess any certain qualities. I can`t see him succeeding in the Premier League. Andriy Shevchenko - considered by many as the biggest big-signing flop of all time. He came with a reputation of a world class striker, but never found his feet in the Premier League. He`s 31 and therefore, time isn`t on his side. Although I admire his character and how he strives on succeeding here at Chelsea, he`ll never recapture his old form. (Still, I could see him staying) INS: - Daniel Alves - I know I might annoy some of you when I keep on mentioning his name, but I still think that he can make us far more stronger. I appreciate what Belletti did, but he`s nearly 32 and Alves is nearly 25. He`s the best right wingback in the world and if some matches need a more defensive right back, then we can play Ivanovic. Maybe Paulo or Boulahrouz could be included in a player + cash deal. Ricardo Quaresma - a skillful two-footed winger who provides great crosses and manages to score great goals. He`s a nightmare for any defender with his electric pace and tricks. He does have a bad attitude (from what I read) but maybe that guy who works at our club can fix it (No, not Grant - I meant Tan Cate, he`ll straight him up). Again, Paulo or Boulahrouz could be included in a player + cash deal. Luka Modric - a creative attacking midfielder who`s only 22 and can provide that attacking flair that we are supposedly missing. Another option could be Rafael van der Vaart, but I`m more inclined towards Modric because of his age. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar - a target man whose goal scoring record at every level is amazing. At the age of 25, he could do an excellent job for us for years to come. He has said that he wants to leave Ajax at the end of the season. Another target could be Kenwyne Jones. That`s my dream team. I even tried it on PES and we were playing the best attacking football you can imagine whether in a 4-4-2 or a 4-3-3 formation. Although it`s slightly childish to base my assumptions on video games, I feel that this transfer activity would do us a lot of good. We would have 2 balanced teams. In a 4-4-2 (for MrDax to be pleased) 1st: Cech, Alves, Ricky, Terry, Cole, Essien, Lampard, J.Cole, Quaresma, Anelka and Drogba. 2nd: Cudicini, Belletti, Alex, Ivanovic, Bridge, Mikel, Ballack, SWP, Modric, Kalou and Huntelaar. That will leave us with Maka, Hilario and Sinclair (he won`t get in any of them unless we bring in Wenger) as surplus and we won`t have to sell Lamps and Ballack Mr(It`s time to sell Lamps and Ballack) Dax I`m not suggesting playing 2 different teams, but I`m in fact stressing the fact that we will have 2 quality players in each position in a 4-4-2 formation. The best part is that we can get Tuby Rafa in the summer to rotate those 2 teams without having to pay a penny because he`ll be sacked soon. Please express your opinions. http://www.Chelsea.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=504286

British police are today investigating the 'suspicious' death of a former business associate of Roman Abramovich. Georgian businessman Badri Patarkatsishvili, 52, was found dead in Leatherhead, Surrey, at about 11pm last night. Initial reports suggested the oligarch's demise was a result of heart failure but detectives from Surrey police's major crime unit are now Mr Patarkatsishvili is the richest man in the former Soviet bloc country with an estimated £6 billion fortune and has previously worked closely with Chelsea owner Abramovich. He had previously admitted that he feared for his life after an alleged plot to murder him in London was uncovered. One reported assassination plan bore chilling similarities to the killing of ex-KGB agent Alexander Litvinenko in 2006. Mr Patarkatsishvili was a long-time business partner of Russian tycoon Boris Berezovsky, an outspoken Kremlin critic who now lives in exile in London. Mr Berezovsky reported that the Georgian billionaire was not ill but had complained about his heart when he saw him yesterday. A Surrey Police spokeswoman said today: 'Police were called to an address in Leatherhead late yesterday evening following the collapse and death of Georgian businessman Badri Patarkatsishvili, believed to be 52 years of age. 'As with all unexplained deaths, it is being treated as suspicious. A post-mortem examination will be held later today to establish the cause of death.' Mr Patarkatsishvili's home, Downside Manor, is located in a leafy road in the countryside outside Leatherhead and is reported to be worth £10 million. Actor Michael Caine lives nearby. Police cordoned off the property and were not letting anyone get close to it today. Mr Patarkatsishvili amassed his wealth during the privatisation of state industries in Russia during the 1990s. He helped to finance the so-called rose revolution that swept President Mikhail Saakashvili to power in Georgia in 2003, but subsequently fell out with him. In December Mr Patarkatsishvili told the Sunday Times he did not feel safe returning to his home country. 'I have 120 bodyguards but I know that's not enough. I don't feel safe anywhere and that is why I'm particularly not going to Georgia,' he told the newspaper. After Mr Berezovsky fell foul of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Mr Patarkatsishvili said Mr Putin told him to side with the Kremlin or leave Moscow. He returned to Tbilisi and bought a football and basketball club and a local circus before going into opposition.

According to reports, Wayne Bridge will leave Chelsea in the summer if he does not get a guarantee on his future at Stamford Bridge. The key indication to whether the England defender is still an important member of Arvam Grant’s side is reportedly set to come at the Carling Cup final against Tottenham, where if he is not selected, Bridge will reportedly leave. The 27-year-old was said to be disheartened after he was left out for the squad against Liverpool on Sunday. According to the Daily Mail, Bridge is still disappointed a move to the same club did not materialise during the January transfer window as had been rumoured.

Obi Mikel: Man Utd Tried To Wreck My Career
the wes replied to TrueChelseaBlue's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
John Obi Mikel was crying the day he joined Chelsea and really wanted to join Manchester United, it has been claimed in an explosive court case in Norway. Mikel was at the centre of a three-way tug of war in 2006, with Manchester United, Chelsea and tiny Norwegian club Lyn all insisting he was their player. In a murky case involving agents, reports of death threats and even accusations of kidnapping, the Nigerian midfielder's future seemed certain to be decided by Fifa until the three clubs thrashed out a deal eventually. United claimed they signed Mikel from Lyn in April 2005 - when pictures appeared in the press of him holding up his No 21 shirt - and then loaned him back until the end of the Norwegian season. But Chelsea, who reportedly helped pay for the Nigeria-born midfielder's education in Norway, insisted they had their own separate agreement with the player's agent. Now all the bad feeling has resurfaced, with Lyn director Morgan Andersen facing charges of forging a contract that indicated Lyn did have the rights to Mikel when the player was sold. He has pleaded 'not guilty' and has given graphic details of a meeting with the midfielder's agent, John Shittu. He said: "It was like meeting the Sopranos. In the meeting they behaved in a threatening way. We claimed that we had the rights to Mikel, but Shittu said we would regret the deal. "We told them that we had the right to Mikel, but Chelsea's representatives didn't agree. Soon after, John Shittu took him to the airport in Oslo. They went to London. Mikel was crying and we didn't see him for a long time after that." In London, Mikel signed for Chelsea and was interviewed on Sky, claiming he had previously been forced into signing for Manchester United and really wanted to play at Stamford Bridge. It's a version of events that Andersen denies. In court, he said: "A number of clubs wanted to sign Mikel and I showed all the faxes to him. He didn't want to see them, because his mind was set on Manchester United. He was very happy when the deal was done and he wanted to go to United. "Alex Ferguson said to me that Mikel would be the new Roy Keane and he was offered a contract that was even better than the one they gave Cristiano Ronaldo when he came to the club." Andersen described Lyn's relationship with Chelsea as "like being at war". Andersen continued to tell Chelsea his club had rights to the player but the Norwegian Football Federation did not agree and decided the contract with Mikel was not valid. Eventually Andersen handed over the paperwork but police in Norway believe Mikel's signature was false and pressed charges. Mikel's future was resolved in June 2006 when Chelsea agreed to pay United £12 million for him, and a further £4 million to Lyn. Mikel has since gone on to become a key player for Chelsea, helping them to win the FA Cup and Carling Cup last season. The court case continues. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtm...3/sfnobi113.xml
