  3. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is doing all he can to end Tottenham's UEFA Cup dream. The billionaire Russian is rolling out the red carpet for Spur's UEFA Cup opponents Spartak Moscow as they prepare for next week's clash, says the Daily Mail. Spartak arrive in London on Thursday and will prepare for the game at Chelsea's Cobham training complex. And, knowing they are short of match practise as the Russian side goes into the fourth week of their winter close season, Abramovich has arranged for them to play Chelsea reserves on Saturday. Spartak sources said: "Blood is thicker than water. Roman is helping the Russian team as much as he can. We will be very well prepared for this game."

The attacking midfielder would be linked to the reigning champions until 2012 if this information was confirmed by the German giants. 6. Mr Abramovich made a surprise visit to Nevada Smiths in New York on Saturday in order that he could keep tabs on Chelsea’s progress in their match at the Reebok Stadium against Bolton Wanderers. Nevada Smiths is the home of The New York Blues, a bar where ex-pats and American Chelsea supporters regularly gather to watch their side via satellite TV. Chelsea’s Russian owner was in the United States on business but took the opportunity to join the regulars in their haunt and, much to the delight of those in the bar, sat amongst the Blues supporters to cheer on his side. Those present took the opportunity to meet Chelsea’s owner and, as well as having their photos taken with him, took the opportunity to discuss affairs at Stamford Bridge and also to watch the match. The New York Blues was set up by exiled Londoners Steve and Mike Neat who, despite living on the other side of ‘the pond’, make regular visits back to the UK to watch Chelsea play. http://www.freewebs.com/newyorkblues/index.htm

  9. CSKA Moscow star Vagner Love wants a move to England. Title-chasing Chelsea are reported to be interested in the 24-year-old, and he is confident he could be a success at Stamford Bridge. The Blues are keen to bolster their attacking options after seeing Manchester City snatch Brazilian superstar Robinho from under their noses on transfer deadline day. "It is my aim to go to England," Vagner Love said in the Daily Express. "I have given my best years to CSKA and it's time to move. But I'm not a replacement for Robinho - I am my own player."

  11. Chelsea have found their new striker. Orlando Sa of Sporting Braga is the next in line to join the Stamford Bridge side... Chelsea are ready to make a January bid for Sporting Braga striker Orlando Sa - and the good thing from their point of view is that they will not need mega bucks to do so. Orlando shot to fame overnight after he scored a sublime hat-trick against the Spanish Under-21 side in November. He is one of the hottest properties in the Portuguese Bwin Liga and the Londoners are the first team in line to sign him. A Bola claims that sources close to Chelsea have revealed the Premier League outfit are locked in talks with Braga officials with a view to signing the youngster. Reports suggest the Blues are looking to deposit €3.4 million into Braga's accounts in exchange for the talented hit-man. Chelsea scouts have flown to Portugal on a number of occasions and they have brought back good festive tidings for Roman Abramovich. The Portuguese club are interested in doing business with the Kings Road Billionaires, but they may hold out in an attempt to attract competition that would hike up the player's price.
