Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon has rejected reports linking the club with a move away from Stamford Bridge. Reports over the weekend suggested Chelsea had decided to quit their home at Stamford Bridge and build a new stadium in Battersea. Kenyon admits they have considered moving to a new location, but insists everyone at the club would prefer to expand Stamford Bridge's capacity. "We have always wanted to see if we could expand Stamford Bridge and until that's fully exhausted there are no immediate plans [to move] and in fact an immediate plan would be five or seven years away anyway," Kenyon told Sky Sports News. Evaluating "At the same time we have been evaluating is there anywhere else in the locality, but looking for a 20 acre site close to Chelsea is never going to be easy. "We get approached all the time - this is no more than one of those approaches. "To say we have got plans or we are committed to moving away from Stamford Bridge is just incorrect. "Stamford Bridge is unique in its location, it is the home of Chelsea and it would have to be very, very special to take us away from there." http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11668_4482024,00.html

Chelsea are considering an £8 million move for Barcelona striker Thierry Henry in January. Luiz Felipe Scolari, the Chelsea manager, is concerned that he has few alternatives to Nicolas Anelka in attack. Didier Drogba is struggling for full fitness after a series of injuries and Salomon Kalou is the only experienced alternative up front. Chelsea were beaten to the signature of Real Madrid's Robinho in August and Scolari knows as the season progresses the Blues will need added firepower. Henry, 31, is in his second season with Barcelona aftere leaving Arsenal. The Frenchman has constantly complained that he has been used in a wide left role rather than a central striker - a position filled by Samuel Eto'o. Though Barcelona, under new coach Pep Guardiola, are top of La Liga Henry may welcome a return to London following his splt with wife Clare. Henry has made no secret that he misses his daughter Tea and said recently: 'Though I work in Barcelona my heart is in London.' The Daily Mail

Former Brazil star Roberto Carlos has criticised Robinho's decision to join Manchester City, insisting he should have signed for "one of the four great English teams" instead... Robinho's €42.5 million transfer to Eastlands shocked the football world. While it was ultimately inevitable that he would leave Real Madrid, it was deemed a certainty that he would join Luiz Felipe Scolari at Chelsea. But the Blues could not match the Citizens' bid, and the North West club proceeded to bag the most expensive transfer in the history of British football. The 24-year-old's move was met with plenty of criticism at the time, with Pele famously declaring that the Sao Vicente native was in need of psychological assessment. And now another of Robinho's compatriots has stuck the boot in, this time former Los Merengues and Selecao team-mate Roberto Carlos. "He’s a talented boy. When I was his age I had chance to move to Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea," the Fenerbahce defender said in the News of the World. "Personally, I’d have only gone to one of those - the four great English teams." Carlos' comments are interesting when one considers that he nearly joined Middlesbrough in the mid-1990s, while Chelsea would not have been classed as a 'great English team' when he was Robinho's age.

Boss Phil Scolari has been told budget cuts mean he has around £10million to spend on new players. The Blues value 28-year-old Owen — who is out of contract next summer — at between £3m-5m. Scolari is keen to recruit a top-class striker to cover for Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka. His first choice was Brazil striker Luis Fabiano but Seville’s price tag of £25m has made that move impossible. There is concern at Stamford Bridge about Owen’s injury record but they will monitor his fitness and form in the coming weeks before deciding on an offer. Owen, who earns £108,000 a week at St James’ Park, is unlikely to be offered a similar salary at Chelsea. Financial restructuring and worries over the number of matches he has played mean a smaller deal will be offered. A weekly wage of £60,000 could then be topped up by a playing bonus to £100,000. Chelsea may face competition from Spurs, though, who are also on the look-out for a striker. Boss Harry Redknapp knows a move for Owen would be cheaper than signing Jermaine Defoe, who is valued at £12m by Portsmouth. Owen, fit again after a groin injury, believes Newcastle will continue to head up the table. He said: “We know we’re a decent team. If we have a good run, fifth, sixth or seventh place is not impossible.” http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport...icle1903162.ece

Chelsea are considering whether to renew their interest in Robinho despite the Brazilian's record £32.5m move to Manchester City at the end of August. The club are examining the attacking options available to manager Luiz Felipe Scolari, with a realisation that it is an area of the squad that is vulnerable, and are still smarting over their failure to sign the 24-year-old striker during the summer. The collapse of the move led to an acrimonious fall-out between the club's owner Roman Abramovich – who was furious having been led to believe the move would go through – and various agents and representatives involved in the deal. It also contributed to Robinho's decision to part with his agent, Wagner Ribeiro, who represented him for six years, and who, The Independent revealed in September, received £4.2m in commission for the transfer. Robinho is now being looked after by his father, Gilvan de Souza, although there is no shortage of other agents wanting to involve themselves in the player's future and affairs. There are major stumbling blocks to any potential deal, not least whether City, and their new owners Abu Dhabi United Group, would contemplate selling a player who is, at present, their star asset. Also any move for Robinho may have to wait until next summer, rather than the January transfer window, because of Article 5.2 of the Fifa rules on player registration which limits a player to one transfer per season. There are various means to contest or appeal against this rule – as happened with Javier Mascherano's move from West Ham United to Liverpool – but they usually involve a player who has moved between continents, when seasons run at different time periods, or who is being prevented from playing. These factors do not apply in the case of Robinho. Scolari, however, remains a strong admirer of the player who he regarded as vital to his plans this season. He was frustrated by the failure to sign Robinho although the blame has been pinned on agents rather than the player. Chelsea believed they had struck a deal for Robinho to arrive for £30m from Real Madrid – with the Spanish club resigned to selling – before City's dramatic intervention. Crucially, it is felt, the agent's cut of the transfer was significantly higher, more than £1m more, under the City deal. Chelsea, and Scolari in particular, have continued to monitor Robinho's progress at City where he has scored six goals in eight League games, including a hat-trick against Stoke, although away from home he has been a less influential performer as his team has stuttered and supporters remain to be convinced. It is also felt by some of those close to Robinho that he is still a little shell-shocked by the astonishing collapse of his move to Chelsea and then his whirlwind transfer to City. He has been a restless player in the past, of course, and was regarded, while at Real Madrid, as being something of a prima donna. If Chelsea receive any encouragement, from Robinho or from City, they may well pursue a deal and part of the discussions will be whether to include a player, such as Nicolas Anelka, a former City striker. Anelka has been Chelsea's main striker this season, with Didier Drogba injured and still returning to fitness, although he has failed to convince. There are doubts whether Drogba, who is 31 in March, and who has been suffering from knee problems, will ever return to be the force he has been since his arrival in 2004. With Franco Di Santo, the 19-year-old Argentine, Chelsea's only other recognised striker, following the departures of Andrei Shevchenko and Claudio Pizarro, then Scolari's options are limited. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/footbal...hts-997767.html

Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has become the club's latest in a long line of players to be burgled while on the pitch. Raiders struck at the Brazil international's home in Woolton while he was playing at Anfield against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday night. The 21-year-old returned home to find raiders had stolen an Olympic bronze medal he won in the summer as well as a collection of Brazil and Liverpool shirts. The raid follows burglaries in the last 18 months at the homes of England dynamo Steven Gerrard, Dutch forward Dirk Kuyt, goalkeeper Pepe Reina, defender Daniel Agger and former players Peter Crouch and Jerzy Dudek. A Merseyside Police spokesman said crime scene investigators attended the address and house-to-house inquiries were conducted. Acting Detective Chief Inspector Peter Parry said: "I would like to empathise to Mr Leiva and his partner for what must have been an upsetting experience. "As with every burglary victim, we will be carrying out a thorough investigation and offering them crime prevention advice. "Taken from the address was an amount of jewellery and some very distinctive football and sports memorabilia. "These items have significant personal importance to Mr Leiva and they were associated with some very cherished memories. I'd ask members of the public to be on the look out in case they are offered such items for sale either on the street or in pubs or see the items for sale on the internet." http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/loc...d-14042894.html

A Chelsea fan who pocketed Jose Mourinho's Premier League winner's medal stands to make more than £20,000 after putting it up for auction. Company director Sebastian Kayll, 37, grabbed the souvenir after the coach threw it into the crowd as Chelsea celebrated their second successive title against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge in 2006. Auctioneer Bonhams, which is holding a sport sale in Chester on 19 November, has set a reserve price of £19,000 but estimates bids could reach as much as £22,000. Kayll, who has been a Matthew Harding Stand season-ticket holder since 1993, said: 'Bonhams reckon there are four or five millionaire collectors of Chelsea memorabilia but if Roman Abramovich wants to pay £100,000 and put it in the Chelsea museum, then all well and good. It will be bitter sweet for me to sell. 'As a Chelsea fan, it is a great memento but it was just sitting in my safe at home. Mourinho has moved on and Scolari is doing great things now, so it feels the right time.' When asked about his medal-chucking, Mourinho said at the time: 'The medal was for everybody but I think the person who got it is a lucky guy who goes home with a fantastic memory or goes to eBay and makes a fortune.' http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...h.html?ITO=1490

Gianluca Vialli believes Chelsea are going backwards this season because they can't beat the top teams. The former Blues manager watched their dismal 3-1 defeat by Roma in the Champions League as a pundit for Sky Sport Italia and was shocked by how badly they played. It was Chelsea's heaviest defeat in Europe's premier club competition for four years, while they have also suffered setbacks in the Premier League against their title rivals, losing against Liverpool and drawing with Manchester United. Vialli said: "I don't think Chelsea are the same team as they were a few years ago. They don't have the consistency any more. They were beaten by Manchester United in the final of the Champions League last season and also lost against Liverpool at home the other week. Before they used to beat these teams." Vialli feels manager Luiz Felipe Scolari, who has set his sights on winning all four trophies this season, was outthought by Roma counterpart, Luciano Spalletti. He added: "Chelsea went to Rome to settle for whatever they could get and, when you do that, you end up losing the game on most occasions. Roma had a great reaction to this, especially after all the problems they have had recently. "Spalletti changed the system, with [Francesco] Totti behind [Mirko] Vucinic as well as [Matteo] Brighi supporting [simone] Perrotta on the flanks, and this made life difficult for [Florent] Malouda. Roma showed great football with the ball to feet and it worked." Captain John Terry blasted the players for showing a lack of fight in the Stadio Olimpico, claiming they "will get nowhere near the final" if they continue to perform as poorly. He added: "We didn't get out of first gear. It was a terrible night. We knew they'd been struggling and the pressure was on them."

Chelsea are looking to set up the January arrival of long-term signing Jeffrey Ntuka. Blues boss Luiz Felipe Scolari will get a first-hand look at the right-sided player who is seen as possible cover for the full back slot at Stamford Bridge. The 23-year-old South African is currently on loan at Westerlo after being ineligible for a work permit but has been promised a stint in London in a bid to earn a place in the Blues squad now he has the required paperwork. "This morning, I had a meeting with Westerlo's management and the good news is that Chelsea want to see me in January," he told Kick Off. "I need to go there and train with the first team. "Hopefully, I'll stay there because, as I said before, I now have my Belgian passport so it's a lot easier to get a work permit to play in England. "Hopefully, I will impress like I did when Jose Mourinho was still in charge."

Chelsea are about to hand John Obi Mikel a new £15million deal. The Nigerian midfielder is in talks over a £60,000-a-week five-year contract following a string of star displays for the Blues this term. Mikel, 21, still has three years to run on his current £40,000-a-week package but boss Big Phil Scolari is desperate to tie him down to see off any interest from abroad. Mikel's agent, John Shittu, revealed: "It has been an ongoing discussion for two weeks now and only a few details remain. "The player is happy at the club and the club also want to commit him to a long-term contract. "There is absolutely no problem and both parties are on the right page. "In a few days everything will be concluded. The player is at the right club, where the fans appreciate him and he also feels at home. "Many people questioned his decision to come here but I think now he has proved himself and shown he deserves everything." Mikel was a bit-part player in his first two seasons at Stamford Bridge. But with Michael Essien out injured, the £16m star has become a key part of Scolari's new-look regime. Mikel is relishing the role and is now gunning for Roma in tonight's Champions League tussle. He said: "This is an away game at a very tough ground, it won't be an easy game — but we can fully wrap up qualification if we win. "That makes it important for us. It's been a bumpy Champions League campaign for them this season and that will make them dig for a result. "We know a win is crucial. It would afford us the luxury of concentrating on the league and other competitions without any distraction. Not so many teams travel to Rome to pick up a win. "It has only happened on a few occasions but we are focused and determined to be in that classical league. "It's key to maintain the momentum of the past two months. "We are not only buoyed by the last result in the league but the fact that confidence and team spirit is on an unprecedented high. "That is very crucial going into a big game like this."

JULIANO BELLETTI wants to commit himself to Chelsea by signing an extension to his contract. The Brazilian, 32, signed a three-year deal last year but has played a more prominent role since Phil Scolari arrived at Stamford Bridge. Belletti’s impressive form as a utility player has put him within sight of a new agreement. He said: “I feel proud and ready to play at least two or three more years at this level. “England is the best of all worlds, where technique, tactics, atmosphere, infrastructure and management combine. It’s like the highest possible level of professional football. “I thank the heavens every day for letting me taste this amazing life at Chelsea.”
