2.
DYNAMO KIEV are ready to rescue Andriy Shevchenko from his Chelsea nightmare.
Shevchenko, 32, is due to return to Stamford Bridge in the summer after failing to impress during a loan spell at AC Milan. With Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti expected to replace Guus Hiddink as Blues boss at the end of the season, the striker's chances of resurrecting his career in London appear slim. But Dynamo president Igor Surkis insists he would be happy to see Shevchenko return to the Ukraine. Surkis said: "For such a player, our doors will always be open. "Andriy wants to continue to play at a high level — and we can give him this chance."
3. Villarreal manager Manuel Pellegrini will depart from the Madrigal at the end of next season according to his agent. The Chilean tactician has been linked to a host of clubs, including Chelsea, after leading The Yellow Submarine to the Champions League semi-finals and quarter-finals in recent years. Pellegrini is under contract with the Madrigal outfit until 2010, and his agent Jesus Martinez has revealed that he has opted against signing a new deal. As a consequence, the stylish head coach will seek other opportunities, in Europe, at the end of next term. “There are always enquiries from big European clubs about Manuel Pellegrini,” Martinez told La Tercera. “The only thing I can say is that he has a contract until June 2010 and he is not going to extend it.”
4. Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor is a target for Chelsea. The Telegraph says as part of negotiations with AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti, Blues owner Roman Abramovich assured him that a bid would be tabled for the Togo star.
5. Jose Mourinho is ready to raid former club Chelsea by making a £15million bid for midfielder John Obi Mikel. The Inter Milan boss believes Chelsea will be ready to sell as part of a dramatic summer overhaul planned in the wake of their Champions League heartbreak. Chelsea may be reluctant to sell Mikel to Mourinho. The midfielder has made 44 starts this season, having enjoyed the longest first-team run of his Blues career, although he has failed to score a single goal at Stamford Bridge. But with cash needed to inject new blood into an ageing squad, Guus Hiddink might see Mikel as a saleable asset, especially as the African is far from a favourite with the Stamford Bridge fans. Mourinho signed the Nigerian from Lyn Oslo in 2006 for an initial £4m after winning a transfer battle with Manchester United. Chelsea subsequently paid United £12m in what was viewed as "hush money", although the contract Mikel is said to have signed was deemed illegal in a court case involving ex-Lyn supremo Morgan Andersen.

9. Chelsea have issued Carlo Ancelloti with a take-it-or-leave-it ultimatum over becoming Blues boss this summer. The Milan coach has signed a pre-contract deal with the Stamford Bridge club for a three-year deal worth an incredible £18.6MILLION tax free. The Italian flew into London for further talks about his backroom staff last week and his move looked sorted. But since then Milan have dramatically made Ancelloti a counter-offer of a new four-year deal at the San Siro worth £4.4m-a-year tax free - or £17.6m in total. And Italian sources say they are now increasingly confident he will reject Blues owner Roman Abramovich's offer and stay put in Milan. Chelsea are so worried about losing their man at the last minute they have demanded assurances from Ancelotti that he is still coming to join them. So far there has been no such assurance. But friends of Ancelotti say that is because he is concentrating solely on today's clash with Juventus. Offer If Milan get a sixth successive victory it will secure a Champions League place for next season. And that could help make up his mind to stay in Serie A. A close friend said: "When Ancelotti signed his pre-contract with Chelsea things were not good at Milan. It seemed best for him to move on and so the offer from Abramovich was irresistible. "But it is not looking so irresistible now as Milan are in fine form. Five wins in a row, eight matches unbeaten and on course for the Champions League. "The whole mood at Milan has changed. They were talking to technical area manager Leonardo De Araujo about taking over from Ancelotti but not anymore - now all they are interested in is keeping the man they've got. And they feel they are winning the argument. "Ancelotti likes his life in Italy and is happy and secure at Milan where he has a great relationship with Silvio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani - warm and friendly. "He's worried he won't have the same warm relationship with Roman Abramovich and Frank Arnesen at Chelsea. Or the same control as he does at Milan. "So there are growing doubts in his mind and instead of it being a closed deal it is now 50-50 whether Ancelotti stays or goes."
10. Guus Hiddink has conceded he will find it tough to walk away from Chelsea at the end of the season. The experienced Dutchman remains adamant that he will leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the campaign when his short-term contract - agreed when Luiz Felipe Scolari was sacked in February - expires. Hiddink will return to his full-time role as coach of the Russia national side and has admitted it will be a wrench to leave the Blues. "It'll be tough to leave it all, that's true," he told the Guardian. "I love to work with this club. I've enjoyed working with this team. The players here aren't just enjoying a good life, putting their feet up in luxury. "They want to perform at a big club. That makes it very enjoyable and difficult to leave. I feel as if I've been intrinsically involved with this club. "I could have come here and just gone through the motions, done a daily routine for three months. But that's not the way I like to work. "Okay, sure, you don't feel as if you're a part of things on day one but I had that after a week here. In the end, though, we part. That's just how it is. Let's not be too dramatic. That's life."
11. Chelsea striker Claudio Pizarro is in the dark over interest from AC Milan. Pizarro has impressed on-loan at Werder Bremen this season and said: “I know nothing about any interest from Milan. “However, in Italy there are some very prestigious clubs and every team is very competitive.”

13. Graham Poll is confident Uefa will take no action against referee Tom Ovrebo following Chelsea’s Champions League exit, and he disagreed with John Terry's claims that the official never had the required experience to control such a big game. The Norwegian referee was called upon to make a clutch of huge decisions at Stamford Bridge, turning down at least four penalty appeals as well as sending off Eric Abidal as Barcelona advanced via the away goal. Speaking to Setanta Sports News, Poll accepted that Ovrebo’s performance had been below-par, and he also understood question marks over the referee’s experience when it comes to big games. However, former Premier League official Poll pointed out that some of the game’s best refs have come from the smaller footballing nations, and he feels sure Uefa will not take action against Ovrebo. “This was arguably the biggest game of the season to date, and it had the least experienced ref appointed to it,” Poll said on Setanta. “However, Anders Frisk was a fantastic referee and he was from Scandinavia, Lubos Michel was from Slovakia – he never had masses of experience with big games. “Frisk actually used to wonder how I coped doing big game after big game. He actually felt it was better to be like Ovrebo – having a couple of small games to get ready for the big one. “Uefa will be disappointed at some of the decision making, they will be disappointed with the overall performance, however they will also take into account the immense pressure he was put under by the players – and they will look into the reaction of the players.”
