Mata will get his rest after the Newcastle game on Aug 25th as our next game after that against QPR isn't until September 15th. That is why RDM has asked for Mata not to be called up to the national team, so he will get a good 2 weeks off after the Newcastle match.

defending and stopping a team full of world class players scoring is an art and something to be proud of! actually putting the ball in the back of the net with limited chances to score is an art! that is why i can never understand how people say we were lucky to beat Barca and Bayern last season! its not luck when a team doesn't score its bad finishing or good goalkeeping/defending. Possession also means nothing when your whole gameplan is to actually let the opposition have the ball! We are more than capable of competing with any team on the planet as we have proven! Its stupid to think Madrid are on another level to us because they really aren't! I would fancy our chances in a one off game against anyone! why because we can compete with any team on this planet!

He had some good moments today, ghosted past a few players, had a shot saved off the line! when we start controlling games he will get the passes he wants and im sure he will finish them! Exciting times!

Im pretty sure this team will start. Cech Ivanovic - Luiz - Terry - A.Cole Mikel - Lampard Ramires - Mata - Hazard Torres with Oscar coming on for Mata in the 2nd half to make his debut.

you dont get it do you? Lampard and Mikel have played well there when we park the bus! in an attacking team they are not good enough! Oscar has never played in a double pivot before and that position wont suit him and Ramires cant play as a box to box midfielder in a 4-2-3-1!

quality player would be a good 3rd choice striker imo, far better player than Lukaku (for obvious reasons) so would improve our squad.

yeah i would happy with someone like Dempsey or Berbatov coming in as 3rd choice striker.

you do realize the weakest part of our team is the double pivot! Modric would improve our team massively much more than signing a 3rd choice striker would!

Modric would be sooooooooooooooo perfect to play in our double pivot! I dont want to get to excited atm but this brings back the memories of the Torres deal when Balague broke the news!!!

On paper Romeu and Ramires in the double pivot looks good to me! especially if we are going to play the pressing game which is what i think we need to do, a front four of Torres, Mata, Hazard and Oscar can all press the ball high up the pitch and then with the two behind them being Ramires and Romeu who both can close players down quick i think it could be the way forward for us. Whether RDM will get us to press the ball remains to be seen but thats what i would like to see.

the reason being that Berba doesn't suit their style as much as Hernandez! Berba is a far superior striker than Hernandez! i would love him here for a season or 2.

yeah i agree, Man U will probably win but i still think there is a chance Everton could cause an upset.
