Mata on several occasions has to play ball out of our own half. We play a counter-attacking game of football, so the difference between a centre mid and an attacking mid are pretty similar in terms of positional play.

When you play him in the formation he has been playing for us, he is. When you play with a 35 year old DM/CM (lampard) Mata drops back and takes the ball into the attacking role.
