That is what i would play against Wigan, Marin should give us some much needed width on the right especially if they are playing 3 at the back (assuming he is back and fit)... if things are going well then ramires can come on to be more of a defensive option... I would include Oscar though unrealistic to start after having just 2 days with us. Also find it extremely funny that people are dropping JT, after a bad game including a bad clearence which led to a goal... In pre-season our defence was much more solid with him in the team, and has been more solid with him for many many years. Ivanovic has looked pretty bad in most of pre-season yet he is still a great defender and shouldn't be dropped, on the basis of a few games.

Terry had a bad game, still the best CB we have got... Not one person i would want there more when it comes down it...

Surely whelan could put in a can't play vs wigan clause then he doesn't have to delay the transfer... Also can he really expect moses to be at his best if he is full aware he could be playing for us a few days after...

Its a great well written post, i think it would be great on the left hand side, as we wouldn't lose much width and Ashley cole being slightly more advanced wouldn't be a problem as we know he runs up and down all day anyway... My only problems with it that we have recently looked fairly shaky in the centre of midfield and when playing the 3 at the back, any such slips will be likely to be punished more severely... I highly doubt we will play it this season and as Zolayes said its a shame we didn't experiment a little bit more in pre season... Definately something to think about, and i think with a few small adjustments could be very effective against some of the weaker teams in the premier league, though i would be slightly concerned about defending against the break...

I highly doubt Oscar will start this game as he will have been with us for 2/3 days after the midweek internationals, would love to see him but unlikely... Week or 2 after may be more likely... What i think will happpen is the exact lineup we saw today will be what we will play against wigan except we may see david Luiz moved to RB, or more likely paulo in there, don't think we will go with hutchinson though i personally would do if it was my call, yes he is inexperienced but he gives us more i think than paulo... I would play Sam Cahill Terry Cole Cahill over luiz to try and add some stability, JT and Cahill partnership imo is a better one in terms of being more secure, and with the goals we have leaked preseason he deserves a start i think. Mikel Lampard Mikel wasn't great today but i don't think Essien is back to his best yet.... Could go with romeu but he hasn't played at all pre-season so would be a bit of a gamble to just through in there. Mata Hazard maybe Ramires, but thinking about it the 5/10 mins we saw of Danny was quite good, so i probably chuck him in there... I know he is not a RW'er and doesn't love playing there but neither is Ramires and danny will give his best where ever he plays... Not saying ramires doesn't but i would go with danny for this one, especially as we wan't to try and exploit thier 3 at the back if they play it. Torres We have no other strikers.... But he was actually one of our best players against city, and seemed to look a bit quicker than he has seemed in recent games last season...

He didn't get round many players because they kept taking him out... Though he did actually get passed a few players early on in the first half... Can't say much for many of our players in the second half as we seemed to be deflated by that red card and city was dominating as you would expect. Also he is plyaing at Left wing we wan't him to run at defences, we can't ask him to do that then critisice him every time someone tackles him. He won't be world class this season but its not like he can only be World class or shit, i think he will have a good first season with us... Roll on next weekend and lets get this season started...

hazard been good actually, looked the most promising of our attacking 4, he can't do it all himself. he has played better than Mata so far, which is fair enough as Mata hasn't really stopped for a whole season. torres starting to look a bit better as well now.
