I mentioned his age because once a player hits his thirties their price will just continue going down and down. I have no problem selling Cesc as long as we have a young worthy replacement available. There is nothing there to suggest that we can't afford or attract Ruben Neves.
-
People are scared of selling a big name who is supposedly a big player for us. Lets not forget that at the end of the day Cesc was a stopgap signing. He has done his job and he has done it well. Now he simply doesn't fit Conte's system and imo isn't good enough anymore to have the entire midfield built around him. He's 29 years old. We shouldn't be scared to cash in on him while we can. However, he should only be sold if we have a proper replacement ready. Who else but Ruben Neves? In my opinion that boy is the next Luka Modric and will easily slot in to our starting XI.

I have a feeling this will happen on deadline day. If it does then I hope our fax machine breaks that day.
-
I would throw Fabregas in for Oscar against these lot as I don't think they will press high and will be sitting deep so Cescy's creativity would come in handy here. Watford got battered against Southampton and somehow sneaked a draw. Let's hope we get the win.

60m seems bullshit. I think we'll get him for 50m.

I have not celebrated that hard for a goal in ages. Literally went outside the house and screamed my head off. He ran those defenders till their last breath. He has some limitations but my god is he ever an incredible striker. If he doesn't getting injured I'm expecting +25 goals for him.

First game of the season lads, lets have some positivity! Our defence isn't good by any means but lets hope with the coaching of Conte our talented players upfront can give us the victory. I think they will do it. COYB.

This is getting ridiculous. Have people here even watched Koulibaly play? To put Koulibaly's ball playing abilities in the same category as Terry's or Cahill's is an insult. Koulibaly IS a very good ball playing defender. He can carry the ball out from the back past another player or two and give to an offensive midfielder quickly. He can also hit accurate long balls once in a while. Terry and Cahill can't even move the ball forward.
-
I think we have Cahill, Ivanovic and a 36-year-old Terry as our defenders with Ola Aina as back-up to them. I also think we don't have Champions League. Arsene Wenger: "The value of a player is dependent on his talent, the expected strengthening of the team, his age and of course his resale value. "

Would it have really hurt us if we just 'payed the damn fee'? We low-balled for two months and still ended up getting ripped off. Would have much rather had payed the money for him early so he could mold with the team by now. Our board never seems to learn. Get the business done early and you don't end up chucking stupid panic bids like the ones we did for Marquinhos last season.
-
Don't wanna sound pessimistic but almost the same thing happened with Nainggolan. We fucked around so much that Juve came in and bought Pjanic which gave Roma the privilege to not need money for Nainggolan. Could the same happen with Napoli and Albiol leaving which might cause Koulibaly to stay? I hope not. I hope Koulibaly's departure more has to do with him wanting to leave.

Words cannot describe how important a good start would be after the season we've just had. COYB!

The football fanbase is so fickle. All it takes is a few bad games and everybody jumps on the hate bandwagon. Let me make this clear: Willian was NOT a free kick merchant last season. Sure, he had some off periods but that doesn't mean he wasn't influential throughout most of the season. He contributes a lot with his drive, dribbling and passing. Few bad games in pre-season means nothing.
-
And you assume we're in a situation to be so nitpicky about our CB options? I don't mean to say we should be daft and go buy the first CB available, but it should be clear as day that Koulibaly is by far the best available option on the market and we shouldn't be afraid to overpay a little for a CB given the fact we have such bad defenders in our current squad. We simply cannot risk to miss out on Champions League again.

I'm afraid Chelsea fans will kill themselves over this.

Sell. Woeful offensively and bang average defensively. He purely uses his size to defend and is a very reactive player who is always chasing rather than snuffing out the danger. Not to mention he has been regressing since that game against Burnley in our title winning campaign. It's time we go for players who are not only good on the defensive side but also have a footballing brain and can at least do the basics such as first touch passes and protecting the ball under pressure. That's what made us so successful 10 years ago, great defensive players who also had a ton to offer on the technical side. It seems our board has tried to replicate those years but they have only bought players who are only big and strong. I haven't watched Thiago Maia but from what I've heard we need players like him. Good technically and defensively.
-
Moan all you want about lack of any new CB signing but we strongly need a midfielder as well. Mikel and Matic are woeful, Cesc can't play in a midfield two formation and we don't know how good Chalobah is. I think the reason Conte has shifted from the 4-2-4 is because he has realized nobody in our team besides Kante can play in a midfield two. From what I've heard about this guy he would be a perfect partner for Kante in a 4-2-4 and a valuable player in any formation.
-
Play him with kante and cesc in a midfield 3 or in a midfield 2 with Kante. I'm afraid playing two in midfield without a player like him partnering Kante would be suicide.
-
Completely untrue. Koulibaly is an outstanding carrier and passer of the ball - both short and long range.
-
I've heard about his credibility from Italians all over the internet.
-
Who said anything about Gazetta? They are not very reliable but Carlo Laudisa one of their journalists is one of the most reliable when it comes to transfer news and he said Napoli rejected a 50m bid.
-
I wouldn't say that yet, it seems that our board is taking its time in this transfer window and a new bid could be coming but I just hope all this waiting doesn't come biting our ass by the end of the transfer window.
-
Calciomercato is really bad. Carlo Laudisa works for Gazzeta and was the one who said Napoli rejected a 50m and he is the most reliable man in Italian media after Di Marzio.

So what you're saying is that you're OK with Mourinho(United) doing well just so that it 'proves a point'? I don't care much you love Jose, surely it can't be more than your love for the club? Because what you're saying certainly proves that you're a Jose fan rather than a Chelsea fan.
-
Oh dear, this is beyond cringe at this point. Bet you had a few beers after that win? On the other side, I couldn't be arsed about losing Mourinho even if United win the league. They'll eventually end up in a worse situation than they were at the end of the Van Gaal era just like his time here.
