Rafa benching Hazard ? Rafa didn't bench Hazard. He rested him. He's finally getting a proper rest from time to time. He was always going to have to develop further i mean he just turned 22. He has the potential to be a worldbeater. A big portion of that 40 million euros was because of his big potential. People seem to be expecting him to already be a 40 million player right from the start. He's far from being a finished product but he's already good enough to start and make a difference. And like Leif said who would you want to replace him on the pitch ?

A nr 10 gets on the ball a lot more often then a winger. Dribbling in tight spaces wouldn't be a problem with his close ball control, first touch, low centre of gravity and excellent acceleration. He's built for playing in tight spaces. 1 thing he needs to have to be great at the nr 10 spot is a deep lying playmaker playing behind him to take care of the distribution and to find him in those tight spaces. I do believe his best position is the nr 10 spot. At Lille they changed their shape to 4-2-3-1 and put him behind the striker with a target man. in 5 games he scores 5 times and assisted 5 times.

Think he'll go to America. He(and his family) wouldn't have to learn a new language, They offer a lot of money for experienced european football players and it would still be a decent level.

Sorry i just don't see him having a big impact anymore. Like i said a couple posts back. He's behind Ramires and Mikel in the pecking order. Seeing as we're going to invest heavily into our midfield they will become rotation players. If Lampard stays he would be a squad player. Not to mention Oscar who's gonna need game time in our midfield if we want him to develop. + Debruyne and Mceachran who are looking for a spot in our squad. How usefull was he in all the other games ? QPR game ?

So therefore we should just give him a contract regardless of the fact that he'll contribute almost nothing to the team ? You give players new contracts when they can still help the team. Give him all the respect he deserves. Cheer, applaud, sing his name, give him a going away match,round around the stadium... But he won't help the team anymore so he shouldn't get a new contract. Sorry but people are looking at this from a far too emotional point of view.

Would he even make it on to the pitch? Think about it. At the moment he's behind Ramires and Mikel in the pecking order. Seeing as how the club is looking for a DM and a deep lying playmaker they will get pushed back into rotation roles leaving Lampard as just a squad player and i haven't even included our young talents like Debruyne, Oscar and mceachran. Giving Lampard a 2 year deal makes no sense what so ever. It wouldn't help us and would actually hinder our younger talents.

Well as we are now (without a DLP ) i would play Mata on the 10, Hazard on the LW but when we have a DLP we'd be able to control the pace of the game and would hav no need anymore for a distributor on the 10. So with a DLP i'd play Hazard on the 10 and Mata on the wing. Hazard best position really is the number 10. Funny thing is that a lot of people forget that In the first 3 games where Hazard was great he was playing on the nr 10. Not a coincidence.

While it's true that he always has a great second round i do believe some context is required with those numbers. Lille changed their formation from a 4-3-3 (Hazard on 1 of the flanks) to a 4-2-3-1(Hazard behind the striker) They also sold their striker Sow and played Tulio De Melo who is a target man type. These 2 factors also contributed to his rise in goals and assists. So to sum up, want to get the best out of Hazard: - play him on the nr 10 pos - play a target man up front - Give him the ball

Disagree, for me Hazard has the most potential on the number 10. Hazard is a different type of number 10 then Mata/Oscar. He doesn't drop deep as often as them. He stays high, trying to run between the lines, finding pockets of space to exploit. He's plays more as a second striker rather then a distributor. He needs a deep lying playmaker playing behind him though to find him in those tight spaces. ( and a striker who can hold on to the ball would be nice too) Hazard is at his best when he's able to run at the central defence from a central position. Take the Swansea game for example. The chances he created all came from him either running at pace towards the central defence or him already standing in front of the central defence. If you want to get the best out of Hazard you have to play him in the nr 10 spot.

Why should they ? If they gave him a new contract for 2 years would we really be better for it? I mean do you really see him contributing anything significant in those 2 years ? How many minutes do you think he'd get ? How many goals do you think he'd get ? (keep in mind without being our main penalty and freekick taker) He'd just be a very expensive squad player. + he'd be taking a squad spot that would be better used for a younger player who could have a long term future at this club. I get that people are sad and getting emotional over the departure of Frank Lampard but what i don't get is the outrage that some people seem to have over the decision to not renew his contract.(ex. you wanting to sack the board) It's a sensible decision from the board. Not renewing a 35 y olds contract who doesn't fit into the new system anymore.

Euhm no. You pick a formation based on the players you have and the way you want to play then you analyse your team and look at what the team needs. You just don't go around buying players who don't fit into your formation.

We already have Luiz for that . The thing is buying Fellaini will solve nothing. Fellaini + a DLP will leave us far to exposed as Fellaini isn't disciplined enough to play as a holding midfielder and Fellaini + DM doesn't give us a creative outlet. So we're going to have the same problems we've had this season. I see him as an upgraded Ramires.

FFS NOOO We're going to play possesion based football meaning we're going to have to play out from the back. Nr 6 is extremely important in this part as he's the one that needs to create the space by drawing the opponents towards him and giving quick 1 touch passes to free a player. So why on earth would we want someone playing there who's crap at passing the ball ?!

Well i think it's both of those reasons. The club has come out and said that they want to abide by FFP rules. So giving 150 k to a 35 y old squad player would not be such a smart move. And yes he isn't good enough to start for us as he basically doesn't fit anywhere in our system. "Acting like this" Acting like what ? A responsible board who aren't pissing money away on an old squad player and looking to the future ? Again why do they have to come out and state that they won't be renewing his contract ? When do clubs ever say "we won't be renewing player "x" his contract ? I don't think they ever do. Mostly it's "if we haven't given an announcement that a new deal has been made then he's out." that applies "Deserves better" Deserves better ? How so ? What have the board done to Lampard that he deserves better from them. The only thing they've done to him is not wanting to renew his contract. Do you think they haven't told him they won't renew his contract ? From all the leakes and the way he's been playing the fans i'd say he knows very well that he's not getting a new contract.

Thanks Zolayes. Yeah i know i tried to stay away from this topic and refrain myself from posting but It annoyed me to no end how some fans seem to think that not giving a renewal is some sort of insult or attack on Frank Lampard's legacy.Or that this club will cease to exist when Lampard leaves.

Don't get why your so angry with the board. He's a 35 y old player who doesn't fit into the team anymore and isn't good enough to start. Why on earth would we want to give him a new deal with the same wages as if he were a starter. He has a contract and it's running out at the end of the season. The club decided to not renew it. The board didn't do anything wrong. This is actually a very sensible decison. Also you criticise the board for being silent but for me it's crystal clear what's on their mind. "We don't wanna renew his contract" so why would they have to come out and say it when it's clear for everyone what they want ?
