  1. It’s not crazy to think that with a top goalie we might have still be in this game.
  2. As someone who did not Maresca to begin with, I think that’s a very dangerous path. the squad is not good enough for silverware. Perhaps to try to fix CL as a stopgap but it’d be a risky move.
  3. I don’t know… I don’t see enough attacking play from us recently to even consider finishing as the main problem. We create very little esp against stronger opposition. we also concede too many goals. It’s always going to be difficult to beat city in Manchester when conceding goals. the team got much much worse after the subs. Tbf, city got better and haaland is having a good game.
  4. Jackson was frustrating and at the same time the one able to hold to the football and make good runs… nothing now. tbf not much happening on the wings either 😕
  5. I’m actually curious as to what the fuck Sanchez was thinking there. did he not see his teammate on haaland?
  6. That’s the issue… no backup striker 😕 Jackson is having a poor second, but no viable option avail.
  7. I think I said a bit more than Noni. And I was referring to pressing. I have a fundamental disagreement with you about setting up tactics vs Executing on such tactics. top players are expensive for a reason.
  8. My point remains that we don’t have enough evidence that he’s making a mistake.
  9. Disagree. It’s always the manager for fans, but it’s mostly the limitations of the players on the pitch at play. can ask Noni to press and defend all you want, but he’s going to do that poorly—same with Sancho.
  10. The sample size may only be small for us. We have to assume the myriad of professionals at the club don’t like what they see there.
  11. No, it’s the clubs fault Sanchez is the better goalie in the roster. — This is the strategy we hired Maresca for like it or not. He will play a higher line and that’s the reason he favors pace in the back line and the reason trevoh is back.
  12. Marmoush has been shit so far — good for us. Constantly off side and out of sync with his teammates.
  13. Glad to see James starting — he elevates the team.
  14. Valid point on the injuries. on the other hand, they have players are past their prime and/or in really poor form. KDB for example. Foden is almost unrecognizable these days. and as written above, they also lack strength in depth… or at least did.
  15. Wish we had been playing better lately. Just watched the recording of their PSG game, and boy they are totally beatable. Tired legs, disinterested players, letting a free man heading the ball in... it's all wrong. Pep may be a tactical, rather system, genius, but glad to see that squad building is still difficult even for him. I'm not sure about strategy; think I'd still start Neto and Noni for the pace and work rate, and then bring more creativity in as the game develops. Hard one because attacking them may be the right strategy at this very moment.
  16. Hard to get rid of dead wood when they are on high wages for their age and experience. Some here may be finally learning that predicting outcomes with the youth is a lot harder in football than in other sports. Injuries alone can really fuck up their development.
  17. Read that selling Garnacho will help them balance the books, but unsure how Nkunku would affect that.
  18. Garnacho is already better and has a much higher ceiling IMO -- entirely basing my opinion on what I've seen from Nkunku at Chelsea, not before.
  19. Right, but maybe he seen enough of him to know he's even worse. In which case, what could he say?
  20. What do people expect him to say about his player, and starter? 🙄 "He's a shit goalie, but the other one I've got happens to be even worse?" That'd work wonders with the squad... he'd be sacked within a hour. Again, all he is saying is that he believes Sanchez is the best goalie in the roster, and I don't have evidence to say he is wrong. We have absolutely no idea what he says behind the scenes.
  21. not completely disagreeing, but it's all the same thing for me--esp in the modern game. Tosin and Trevoh for example, is just too much of the same. Makes the team lose quality in possession.
