This is why it is tricky to use “better” or “worse” without qualifiers. trev is quicker than Tosin, which is more valuable in high D lines than aerial dominance. So, if that’s the goal, trev would prob do a better job than Tosin. whether trev is good enough long run is a diff story.

A bit weird to contradict the manager like that; especially given that he's not saying something that different from what Maresca may have shared. Also, 4-6 weeks for muscle injuries can mean a lot of different things; player and his agents are leaving it open to all possibilities there eh.
-
Pretty safe to assume he's indeed intelligent. When he ceases to be an engineer/entrepreneur and verges into world politics is that I see a problem: he's just not emphatic enough to other human beings who are way too different from him to relate to his views. His lack of empathy is pretty evident when you actually listen to him in interviews... at least to me.

Hmm are you perhaps suggesting we sing 39yo CR7 to rotate with Jackson? 😅
-
Wasn’t Trevoh just a lot better than both disasi and Tosin? Or my mind is playing tricks?
-
The only way getting KDH would’ve been warranted was for rotation at the very least. it matters little what some of us hoped — hardly ever seen him play as I only watch the PL. We merely trusted the scouting done. it looks like a major blunder by the club. Lavia either addresses his fitness issues or his career will look very different from originally thought.

Has to be the weirdest pen call in a while.
-
I actually agree, which is partly why this result so frustrating. 😕
-
Agreed to disagree here. As discussed before nothing these owners are doing resembles what was done in the past. everything is now build for the future and not the now. imo disagreeing with the strategy is one thing, but I’m not surprised at all with the results much less with the lack of consistency—young players notoriously lack that.
-
everything is so different today that I don’t really find it comparable. 1. Young squad (even CBs) 2. Squad has more depth than last season esp attack but still nothing compared abramomich era 3. Young and inexperienced manager tbf The game has also changed enough in recent years that I feel the bet on the new manager and system is warranted, but that’s also considering how th squad was built. hardly think abramovich would have hired a novice manager and then sacked him for getting novice results.
-
Did we find he is a novice just now tho? Remember some of us reminding folks of that early on. thats why it’s unfair to not consider that now.
-
Agreed. Jackson played well with the ball at his feet and also high pressing really well, but was also really not nearly prolific enough in front of the goal. Out of form strikers isn’t anything super surprising — having no viable option at this level not so much. players like Isaak take away from the team compared to Jackson tho. It’s a tradeoff not a win/win.
-
I’m not sure. Agreed that it was too risky a move against 2 players, but unsure he’s not allowed to try to pull that off. Felt the d line should’ve done better tho. They should’ve known we were not out of the woods yet and stayed deeper for a bit longer. we can’t be always a midfield dispossession from conceding a goal.
-
Tbh I think Veiga is pretty meh in midfield, but yeah for 15-20 maybe. Not great tho. not sure about James… he seems made of glass. Only having Jackson for 9 is an issue when he’s not been finding the net like now. Guiu won’t deliver at this level at least not now.
-
Think it is unfair to not consider the manager as a newcomer at this level. its easy to forget that esp after the winning run, but there are a lot of work-in-progress with this squad, which includes the manager.
-
Caicedo having a poor game finally — looks a bit tired.
-
Being honest here: it looked a lot less clear than made out to be here. For me the player got the ball as it moves forward—first? Later after getting netos legs ? That’s the tricky part.
-
True on the other hand Jackson got in position to score multiple time.
-
We don’t have a whole lot of options in the middle atm tho. It’s also hard to sub cole, the guy who plays most often, given the goals usually involve him.
-
Fuck! Too easy
-
Could just be the crowd pressure — they seat very close to the pitch…. Prob intentional when th e stadium was built.
-
Dumb play by Sancho and colwill saved his arse there.
-
Jackson is having a strong game and at the same time not good enough in front of the goal. 😕 need that second!
-
Dunno think he got the ball just. what a nice long ball switch by Enzo. He’s combining well with Sancho.
-
Agreed. Though nothing wrong benching a playing who’s in poor form. had we had Lavia avail and Caicedo could go RB, but … 😕
