Playing on the wing is also more demanding. I also think it's unfair to expect striker-like effectiveness when he plays winger. He gets a lot more involved in other tasks as a winger (even inside striker), so naturally the focus isn't the same as if he were playing striker. Think that's clear when you watch him play for Germany. The fact he's been playing in the wing may hurt us when things get tighter and we need an extra class up front - Abraham ain't it. Werner should be playing more in the center with Odoi coming on to the left... dunno why that's not being done at all.

He's always been a little mentally ill and age plus covid recently sure did not help. His Niece's book go into that - lots of interviews by her on the subject. The biggest con in history is how he was able to convince people he's this amazing businessman. His 300 million tax free inheritance (as reported by the NYT) and his multiple failures just show how bad he is in his business. That's what Bloomberg has been saying, that they know trump in NYC so he never gets anything there. My prediction is that we will both see a lot of shit getting uncovered - he did use the DOJ in unprecedented ways, for example - as well as pardons. It does not look like he can pardon himself, so maybe he will quit to get a Pence pardon?

yeah maybe. I hope I'm wrong about Rice (given that we are really after him). He looks pretty inapt on the ball to me.
-
fair enough on Jorginho, but I feel that the point still stands as I think Rice looks too much of a defender-only to me.
-
ideally, we'd have a player with the technique and passing of jorginho who would turn into a Rice when the game demands it. That's easier said than found though. Vieira is retired and RM won't sell Casemiro.

Kepa should be looking for a new club if he ever wants to play again. Can always wait 5 to 7 years, perhaps then Mendy will be too old...
-
heh could see that it would be set pieces never mind Giroud just scored haha
-
Massive game by Mount. Silva's passing from the back is a joy to behold. Don't think the ball even bounces coming off of his feet.... crazy shit.
-
Having a massive game against Rennes. Assist aside, that control from Chilwell's pass was something else... high ball surrounded by 2 players and he manages to keep possession by lobbing the ball around with perfect touches. He can play anywhere - very rounded player. @DDA might be right about CM position, but I guess that depends on the system. Often he is actually a CM even if "on paper" his position is slightly higher on the pitch. Underrated!

Free will equates to the random chaotic universe, which is what we observe. So, the best "evidence" we've got points to the simplest explanation. Which is that they both exist in the same reality and abide by the same rules. For me free will is the "default" explanation: the absence of a "designed" principle behind one's decision making. So, again, for me, the "on rails" is the one that needs hard proof.

Simplest explanation wins? The chaotic universe we observe? Why wouldn't the sample principles apply to the animals on earth, some of which just happen to have big brains instead of claws? I think that the "life on rails" argument is the one that needs hard proof, being farther from the simplest explanation.

Yeah good point. Strangely enough, Abraham is also not an aerial threat, which makes him a hard pick against Werner, IMO. Werner has all that plus some (more skill, intensity, and pace)... can't see Abraham starting a lot of games when everybody is healthy, but good option to have.
-
yeah he's just too good to be third option as he shows for France (and for us not so long ago). IMO Giroud is a lot better than Abraham right now, but I do understand why the club is betting on Abraham to improve and become a better player.

there is no such thing as evil. Whichever definition of evil one may have, it would've been entirely different decades and centuries ago - by the same religion too! Don't even have to go that far back in history: burning "witches" at the stake took place pretty recently in our history. good read "Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind" by Yuval Noah Harari (and it's free too as you can download the PDF from edu sites).

interesting read, https://www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2020-11-15/donald-trump-election-delusions-autocrats Op-Ed: What the bunker mentality really means In the last week, a mash-up of a scene from “Downfall,” the movie about Hitler’s last days, has been circulating on social media. The scene is the one where Hitler bursts into an operatic rage when his officers tell him of a failed attempt to drive the Russians from Berlin. In the mash-up, Hitler is getting a different kind of bad news: All the votes are going to be counted and he will lose the election. Donald Trump isn’t a dictator. He won office in a free and fair election and will leave it through the same democratic process. But there is a serious point underneath the mash-up comedy. Refusal to accept unpleasant reality is the hallmark of dictators, especially if disaster or defeat is looming. From his bunker, Hitler ordered imaginary armies to fight fantastical battles. Somehow, he thought, victory could be snatched from certain defeat. ....

What exactly have the democrats tried that was so egregious? Can only think of the the impeachment process, which was at most controversial, not a direct attack on the election. For many, Trump's call to Ukraine (as stated) was NOT OK. I heard him saying live that he'd welcome help from other countries to win the election - that is NOT OK! I do believe he was sincere though, which makes the Ukraine call look a lot worse (why would he not do the same with Ukraine?). Romney also thought none of it was OK. Other GOP senators were on the fence until the last minute. The only controversial part was whether he should be impeached for that. Trump is raking money to pay his many debts. He is NOT using his own money, but the money being received in donations and packs. His debt has been wildly reported everywhere. He's also expecting legal fees from NY state lawsuits, which he has no control over (not even a pardon would stop it). Not even going into Barr and the DOJ, but there would be a lot to talk about there. If he quits and gets a pardon from Pence, would that raise a red flag for you? Nixon style! Flynn, Stone, Manafort, Cohen... pardons and folks in jail. I predict that you will see a lot more going to jail and/or getting pardons until this is over. None of that a red flag? How so? Is the president disputing the election results in states where he won?! If elections do not work, what the fuck is Mitch doing there still? His election was obviously rigged too. Reminder that his legal actions are getting tossed/dropped like flies and he is now turning into different ways to subvert the system: "Trump tries to subvert the election, inviting Michigan G.O.P. lawmakers to the White House." source, everywhere. The only rigged thing about the US election system is the electoral college. Who was the last GOP president who won the popular vote again (as in actually getting more votes)?

lol and fired! "Foreign adversaries were not able to affect any of the votes, CISA said, and it was "the most secure election in American history," according to them and the wider group of public and private election officials. That was the statement for which the President decided to fire Krebs on Tuesday evening." https://www.cnn.com/2020/11/17/politics/chris-krebs-fired-by-trump/index.html

hmm 2018 run a bit of luck (good side of the bracket plus a Kane dive here and there), which I guess counts as overachievement IMO. The team is just not elite level esp in midfield and def. Sterling is the only WC player in the squad (Kane is good, but not elite IMO a bit too slow these days). This was blatantly clear against Belgium: England tries to move the ball around and play progressively, but they do it so much slower than belgium.
-
Perhaps now we can stop questioning it, since Trump's own government came up with this: “The November 3rd election was the most secure in American history. Right now, across the country, election officials are reviewing and double checking the entire election process prior to finalizing the result,” the statement said. https://apnews.com/article/election-2020-donald-trump-technology-state-elections-elections-66f9361084ccbc461e3bbf42861057a5 "WASHINGTON (AP) — A coalition of federal and state officials said Thursday that they have no evidence that votes were compromised or altered in last week’s presidential election, rejecting unsubstantiated claims of widespread fraud advanced by President Donald Trump and many of his supporters. The statement from cybersecurity experts, which trumpeted the Nov. 3 election as the most secure in American history, amounted to the most direct repudiation to date of Trump’s efforts to undermine the integrity of the contest. It echoed repeated assertions by election experts and state officials over the last week that the election unfolded smoothly without broad irregularities." (It's also onFox News too if you only use that "venue"). Someone is getting fired in 3...2...1...

ain't that the most ridiculous thing ever? political appointees with lifetime terms. What could go wrong? And way too religions for a developed nation, which might explain part of the reason for the country to lean right, which I agree is quite evident. I'm a SW engineer in IT, more specifically internet infra/networking, but I understand enough of what's going on in AI to know what's finally coming (AI has made promises before). Let me rephrase that, I know what's going to vanish and that is jobs. So, I wonder what the messaging the GOP will come up with as the landscape changes and it becomes difficult to point to a bogeyman. Both parties don't talk about it, but only the GOP lies about it: saying that immigrants are stealing American jobs lol

Your bar is a lot higher than mine atm. A guy does not go on TV and yells "rigged!" over and over again and he gets a point from me. Think you are spot on on the assessment above. Though Trump may not be healthy enough to run in 4 years. Yes, he's "younger" than Biden, but Biden is the one who can hop on a bicycle. Also think Trump not being a president will def lose much of his free airtime esp on the opposition side.... it does add up. * one of the reasons it is so difficult to defeat the incumbent president. Covid may still make things weird for the GOP as many of their predictions fall flat; people tend to get really pissed when things happen to them, not before. Dems should get a lot of blame too. Their policies can be seen a bit touchy feely, too PC and that is well exploited by the right. It's like only one party is playing hardball... I have to confess that I can't stand listening to the democratic leaders in congress.

While I agree that he is one of the few guys there who isn't an idiot, he also played too much family business using his role and position like @Fulham Broadway stated above. The nepotism in the trump government is unacceptable to me. While apparently he did some good things in the Middle East (politico.com has an article on that), via money deals or not, he also shouldn't be in the gov to begin with. He did not have the qualifications for his position and role. He also invited friends to work with him who are even less qualified. Personally I think it's a moot point, because he does not seem good enough at speaking to the public or the news. It's the least important quality, and yet what people consider the most important (for a president).

hmm the guy is not very popular actually. He and his girlfriend (Guilfoyle Fox News bimbo) made a few appearances, and apparently did not provide any help in the campaign. Despite all his issues, you know being an egomaniac conman, Trump is the popular one.
