  1. good one, but are you suggesting Willian was ever! pacy? ๐Ÿ˜
  2. Has anyone watched Navas in those 2 legs? I cannot believe Mendy has been there (France) all along and they go after Navas. While I do get that nowadays some strategies demand that the goalie use his feet, he still needs to be good at the basics. and Navas isn't.
  3. I disagree with that. Had a different player been on the pitch, perhaps those opportunities he missed wouldn't have been there to begin with. The cool thing about Werner, and what some folks are missing about his game, is that he's a creator. no, he does not have the vision of a KDB to find that through ball, nor the finishing so many here crave for, but his pace and movement make him a nightmare to deal with. His presence alone will force City to employ a low(er) block again - just like they did against PSG because of Neymar and Mbappe. Yes, City is still an excellent side even when operating with less of the football and on a lower block, but they are far less formidable.
  4. Agreed... his CL record, esp of late, is indeed worrying. Eden has the advantage of knowing the pitch (and facilities) inside and out, but has the disadvantage of facing defenders who know his style and are used to his movement. It's hard to predict, but the latter usually wins. This is a great game to play! It's no disaster to lose to RM, so you can play full of confidence and with a swagger - leave everything on the pitch. Our intensity has been great since Tuchel took over and we need to be more intense than Real today.
  5. yup the lack of quality is their main problem - the behavior was just frustration for being so soundly beaten. Regarding the game tomorrow, think the strategy will be very much the same with lots of pace in the attack and quick transition. Not that concerned about Eden. He's obviously a quality player, but RM has a lot of that anyway.
  6. Best player in the world for me. Always thought he was the best player in the Belgium side by a country mile.
  7. Not that shocking if you consider their quality, or the lack thereof. ๐Ÿ˜‰
  8. TBF, Neymar is getting double/triple teamed every time he gets the ball, regardless where. PSG has much deeper problems than whether Neymar is as good as he (or others think) he is - he's not. what a shit player Di Maria is. Their midfield is just OK... nothing special there. Verratti is overrated as fuck. Does PSG even have FB/wingbacks? I mean did they play at all?
  9. his main problem is that he thinks he's WAY better than he actually is. I mean it's not even close. ๐Ÿ˜
  10. Don't rate Navas at all... not my kind of goalie. PSG is a team with a couple of excellent players, surrounded by a few good players. Unfortunately for them, they also have plenty of mediocre players as starters and it shows. Their defending has been consistently poor regardless of manager - it's the players.
  11. Very strong game by Werner, kai, and mendy. Passing was a bit sloppy at times and a better team wouldโ€™ve punished us, but the quality of these players won us the 3.
  12. It's also unfair, and frankly, stupid. Reminds me of Gisele Bundchen on Welker comments - and I think Gisele was less wrong then. It's like saying my husband did his part, but the other guy did not. This would be a slightly more valid point if we were talking American Football and only offense, defense, and special teams. Maybe Thiago's passing wasn't as good as it should've been and that's the reason we could not get the ball quicker to the pacey attackers. It was Rudiger who actually found Pulisic. Maybe heavy and slower strikers wouldn't have touched the football in that game. It's all so relative. Irrelevant really, but fact is that the players she criticizes did score a goal away from home against the toughest opposition. Not to mention that the defense also conceded (again if you see areas as separate teams ๐Ÿ™„), so not sure what she's complaining about. I definitely agree with @Mรกrio Cรฉsar (I speak Portuguese) above and I'm sure the club will have a talk with Thiago about the incident. Some people simply don't get social media at all.
  13. indeed, staying healthy seems to be his challenge We talk about Eden as if he won us multiple single-elimination games in the CL before, which couldn't be farther from the truth. That sort of performance will get Pulisic ahead of Eden (in CL) in no time.
  14. heh, Tammy is really loved around here - pretty mediocre footballer in my book. Werner is twice the player misses and all. If Werner keeps on botching chances, trade him (plenty of teams would welcome him) and get someone better, but Tammy ain't the answer.
  15. Football is funny sometimes. Everybody knows it's a team sport, but after a strong team performance, away from home, and against the strongest opposition, folks will remember Werner's miss (really good save by Courtois too). They will not think the zero-sum game it actually is: when you replace Werner with someone else, you lose what Werner does (regardless of your personal preferences). Regarding the comparison with Pedro, I think Werner is quite different and has the potential to become a much better player than Pedro was.
  16. It's not that simple (responding to OneMoSalah's point actually): Werner's movement opens up spaces and creates opportunities for him and his teammates. I'm going to say something a bit controversial here, but I'd not replace Werner with Aubameyang, for example. Aubameyang can finish, but he just takes too much from the team - I really dislike him as a footballer. Werner needs to improve his finish, but he is still young and even a slight improvement will make him an even more dangerous attacker, again because of his pace and movement.
  17. I disagree that he does not show anything special. There are glimpses of excellent technique esp controlling the football in tight spaces as well as vision. It is just very erratic and moving him around is not going to help esp as a false 9, where he lacks the basics (make runs without the ball). Obviously he needs to improve, but his inconsistent form matches his young age.
  18. Giroud came in too late and Zouma should never start in my book, but especially in a game where we need to keep possession and attack. Other than this, it was just an insipid performance undeserving of a win. Ziyech was particularly poor today.
  19. does anyone else want to ๐Ÿคฎ every time Florentino Perez opens his mouth? Wonder if he actually tries to sound like an arrogant prick, or is it something that comes naturally to him.
  20. that's exactly why Zouma isn't a solid defender. He's solid defensively, but he's very poor on possession.
  21. Timo's miss was really embarrassing, but then again Macedonia defenders were very big and physical and he's just not used to that at all. (all over twitter haha) The story is really how the hell did they manage to concede twice?! Watched France game instead, which was not great, but at least competitive. There was a clear uncalled penalty for Bosnia IMO tho.
  22. yes, niggling injuries can play a part in muscle injuries, but I guess the question here is how much. Personal opinion, not a whole lot. And it's not just the training, or lack thereof, but stuff like this "confessing that he was carrying an extra 5kg in weight when he touched down in Madrid. "It's true," Hazard told L'Equipe. "I'm not going to hide it, but when I'm on vacation, I'm on vacation." Carrying extra weight (being unfit) is the #1 reason for muscle injuries. Hamstring is known as a the "coming back injury" for ex.
  23. Agreed. When I hear about Oscar, it seems like he came, missed a pk in CL final and then left us to join Arsenal at his peak. When in reality, he was an important player to win 2 PLs and then left on an excellent deal for both him and the club and very far from his peak. (and to china of all places) Regarding mount, I am happy to have been right about him. Thought some of his attributes were very underrated around here. While I understand that folks have personal preferences about style, and what they expect an attacking mid to do, it's a team sport and we need AMs with very different characteristics to make it work. Mount IMO is actually very unique in the squad: hard to replace him when he can't play.
