Bossed the midfield against united like he usually does? 😉 To me the mistakes in attack were far worse than anything bad we did at the back--united hardly created anything. Took a moment of magic from Cristiano to score against us. We controlled the game from start to finish and Kante had a big part in that. We let him go and he will do that against us... that simple.

yup! I've known professional footballers in Brazil -- some even famous -- and with VERY few exceptions, their mindset is very much the same as ours concerning jobs. Do you think twice when getting an offer with a significantly higher pay raise? Do their spouses, friends, and agents chime in? That's what it's called being a "professional" footballer.

There is nobody in the roster that can replace Rudiger - will need to sign someone if we want to have the same quality in defense. Chalobah is a promising physical player, but he's currently nowhere Rudiger's level and it's a monumental challenge to get there. Make no mistake, Rudiger's recent form (year and a half?) makes him one of the top CBs in the world.

I can't imagine him delivering the goods at any top CL club. Just look at his stats alone and Inter was the oddball. Now, Inter does not compete in CL and does not pin their opponents down in their half. Again, not really sure what was so mysterious about his very specific and abundantly clear strengths and weaknesses.

I was being nice considering he is a young player who hasn't seen a whole lot of minutes. Turns out he's not that young, but what caught my attention is that he appears to be good on the ball, but also a bit overconfident? The defense consistently failed to perceive danger, and those times demand a different approach to defending. It feels that Rudiger is the only physical CB we've got and we are lost when he does not play.

I think it might have been the worst PK call ever.

Sarr had a pretty bad game BTW.... a bit overconfident on the ball without the goods to show for it.

Azpi was fouled and a PK was called against him. And the VAR agreed with that... VAR is shit.

Are the people really making the choices in a democratic-capitalist system? I have a thought, which is far from an original one, which is that corporations (as the economy itself) are like computer software; they've got their own "way of thinking" which is guided by a set of parameters and "goals", and their power (money) will find their way into the best investment, which often turns out to be politics. incidentally, many of these "software" (companies), which have one purpose in "life," happen to also control information. 😉 just to not sound like I'm disagreeing with you, which I'm not, the poorly educated are more likely to believe absurd claims: "we win or they stole the election" or "everyone I know voted for Trump, so it must've been rigged"

He had a strong game against Madrid. He works better pinned up front in a high press because he's not the one chasing back. All he needs a time machine so someone could tell him he aint a RB/RWB, but a striker! would have made 3x as much too.

I disagree. As one who finds Lukaku's virtues and weaknesses fairly evident, I think teams which will press high and mostly have the ball aren't a good fit for him. That's why he did well at Everton and then In Italy: he needs space to roam

evidently we lost this in the first leg. That forced us to be perfect in this match. We were very good, but not perfect. Being this good should've been enough to go through, but again... that first leg... 😧

I'd go further and say Timo shouldn't have been taken off. Had just scored and was running high in confidence. Plus his movement is always causing problems pinning defenses down. Pulisic has been poor in all accounts.

TBF he does look like Ronaldinho level (his youngsters years @ gremio), but it's hard to say given that those final years will determine so much. I'd edit and remove the link -- they are like freaking magnets 😄

Perhaps Tuchel should've made an additional sub between RLC and Kante esp the former who looks wasted (did not have a great game either). Lousy goal to concede at this level. Kante is starting to show he's past his peak.
