If we could improve the pivot defensively allowing Hazard more freedom and more combination possibilties with Fabregas (who could then mover to the n10 position), I think that'd convince him to sign a new deal.
-
Well to be completely correct: Ferreira-Carrasco and Origi are actually KRC Genk's youth academy products (just like KDB and Courtouis).

Sure a Matic and Witsel pivot would be difficult to breakdown. However while witsel might be technically gifted enough to play as CM, he tends to slow down te game too much. Using him as a pure DM would be silly considering Matic might already be the best in the world at that role/position. 30 million pounds is to much to warm the bench. Pogba might be quite more expensive but would create a better partnership with Matic I feel, also would be rather intimidating for any team to come and face us and would probably make our midfield the most physical in the world. Yaya Touré would become a little whining bitch if he had to face both Matic and Pogba on the midfield. Pogba would be much more usefull in attack, especially whe facing smaller teams and would give Hazard and Fabregas so much more freedom. I really hope we do sign him, though I doubt financial wise it will be easy. If we don't buy him but rather a mikel replacement, I'd rather have someone cheaper come in instead. Which would also be nice for RLC.

There's quite a gap between them, when we look at both player's current ability though. Thorgan will need at least one more season in Germany or a different club and regular playing time before he can be even a substitute player. Yeah Well De Bruyne was one of the most important players in the national team and he wanted to play and impress at the World Cup, not playing was seriously risking his chances to play and the quality of his performances. Wilmots, the national coach regulary warned his players about this and has likely played quite a bit of role in KDB's transfer request.

If that's your point then it sadly isn't relevant to the discussion. As the discussion is about goals and a player's role. CR7 has a very different role in the Real side then Hazard has, which makes for difficult comparison. So if you want to say that CR7 played LW, well okay, but what of it? Elephants are the only mammals that can't jump. I know that wasn't relevant but it is equally true.

And if there is, he's probably one of ours.
-
He has barely played at Roma this season and missed the second half on last season due to injury. I'd wait and see wether he can still get back to his old form first. Also if it is a Mikel replacement/improvement I'd rather would have liked them going after Di Rossi a while back (getting too old now to buy him) or Naingolan, who's been one of the best performers for AS Roma since his transfer last January.
-
Nah, usually he dribbles past more defenders before he shoots on goal.

Even in FM it doesn't really hold true.

Kompany has more experience.

While Müller is an awesome player I'd prefer Reus. At this point Hazard is thinking and playing much faster than all our other players except for Cesc. With Reus our tempo and quick short combinations would improve by a lot. Also he could play in William's (and Shürrle's) place who both think slower than Oscar, who lags behind Cesc and Eden, but can at least keep up better. Müller wouldn't improve our passing game as much. Yes he's a good finisher but so is Diego. Remy isn't too shabby at it either. There are still quite a few very good CF's avaible, if we need another finisher I'd rather have someone more physically imposing who can hold up play. If Benteke plays well this season again he might be a good option. Mourinho likes to use a 4-4-2 when we are behind, a type of player like benteke can be very usefull then, especially if we try too many long balls like against Maribor last game. So I'd prefer Reus to come over Müller and would prefer a type similar to Benteke to Müller as well. But mainly I'm glad Hazard is playing as well as he is. Especially as we know he usually doesn't perform too well these months. So he's likely to get a lot better yet this season.Goals will follow, no worries there. Though some one on one finishing training could be useful.
-
And 6 key passes, 4 shot on target. Great play by him, but it wouldn't be too bad if he gets some goals as well. On the other hand, almost all of our other players haven't really done that much to win either. Matic was a beast as well though.
-
He should get some training on 1 v 1 with the goalkeeper, he's been missing those kinds of clear cut chances way too often. I'm really happy about his runs and off ball movement though, it has improved significantly. According to whoscored.com he also made 14 succesfull dribbles! While he's showing more and more influence and tries more to change games, he needs a little more end product. But that could come soon as he usually isn't really scoring that much in the beginnings of seasons.
-
On the right he might not be cutting inside as much but he could provide assists for Costa. Also he can play in the middle as well, where I'd rate him higher than Oscar as well. I'd personally would prefer it if we could find us a good CM of the Pogba type though, so that we could play Fabregas more in a n°10 role.
-
He could have had a few assists the last games if it wasn't for poor finishing, he also missed out on a 1 v 1 thanks to an off side Shürlle. If he had scored that one or if his assists were converted he might have been considered our best player on the field.
-
13 goals last year, 6 of which were really easy tap ins. Doesn't seem overly impressive, but then again can't say I've watched him properly.
-
To be honest I think we need a at least one attacking midfielder, before we can play with the real big boys (Bayern, Dortmund, Madrid, Barcça & City). Cesc, Luiz and Costa are very fine additions. But when we talk about AM's (I'm counting Cesc to play in the pivot) we have only one that strikes fear in the other team, that's hazard. Now with Cesc, Costa and Luiz it will be better and Hazard isn't the only threat on the pitch anymore, but if really want him to show his magic we need another guy comming. I really hope that we can land Reus this summer, winter or next summer. Cause then we'll have, as far as I'm concerned, a world class team. And I bet it would make all our current players perform even better.

Unambitious self entitled lazy twat. That's what he is.

Were not gonna sell him, as I said earlier. He has two years left, is likely promised a second striker place and Drogba might even be signed to also tutor him. Due to the HG rule we almost need to keep him as otherwise his place in the squad can't be filled by a different striker (unless u21 or Homegrown). Torres will be dropped from the squad whether or not he gets sold. Also because we already lack HG players and because Lukaku will get the HG tag he will likely stay for a longer while. Without a doubt his contract will be lengthened after the summer and not sooner. Now is the transfer window the club is already busy with discussing a lot of contracts, loans,... Naturally the contract hasn't been prolonged yet, because before he was at Everton and after Everton he had WC preparations. Hence the time for real negotiations has yet to come. Also he's a chelsea fan and I've yet to hear him speak about wanting to leave Chelsea. Personally I think Mourinho already spoke with Lukaku and fixed the situation. He's smart enough to know he won't find it easy to find a replacement that is ready and has a future at chelsea, while also being either U21 or Home grown.
-
I can't see us selling Lukaku. Not only because he might still have quite a future here, but because we really have a shortage of English/Home grown players. We will already need to promote a few youth players to get a full squad to follow the rule, selling one of the few home grown players that actually have PL experience and quality would be shooting ourselves in the foot. Selling Torres would be much more logical, though admittedly harder. Then again while selling Torres might not yield as much transfer money, his high salary would still free up quite a bit of money. So let's hope Athletico or some other team is foolish enough to buy him. Otherwise I see us ending up with four strikers.

Good transfer for the future. Especially considering the relatively low price tag.
