It took Klopp a while to achieve this and even this season they were shit defensively against some smaller sides which cost them potential title run. Do you want all out attacking football and during season destroy some teams, but also lose to Burnleys and Palaces often? Do you think Chelsea will tolerate two seasons with average results, like Klopp had before this season? (and even now they finished 4th, which isnt great). Sarri tried to go attack with Napoli too (much more drilled side than Chelsea will be next season) and lost to City. All Im saying we shouldnt play allout attack game just because its fancy and popular, because Pep will beat us in his game. We have to develop from our strenghts, not adopt rivals style. Dont get me wrong, I would love Sarri here and Im sure we will play fantastic football on the eye (with few new players and given that current squad puts faith and adopts to new manager), but dont be surprised if we get spanked by top sides who play offensive football for longer time with more drill, or small sides who will take our approach by the balls and punish the defence (lets be honest, Klopp, Pep, Sarri have wonderful attack and actions, but their defenses are plain and simple garbage more often than not). Only reason I have faith in Sarri is because majority of our players went through defensive drills by Mou and Conte and they know how to defend, Pep and Klopp players never had that chance. What I mean, people seem to love Pep football, but his defence is pure shit. I dont want that at Chelsea. We always had strong defence, but efficient attack. If Sarri can implement that, (like Ancelotti did in 2009/10) thats awesome, but honestly if all we do is trade defensive stability for attacking brilliance, we wont see any trophy for a long time. Fuck that. I love idea of a more attacking chelsea, but not at the expense of what made us strong club. I loved when we played like shit, everyone laughed at us, but I cheered for our defense to hold on and then we scored and I was like yeah, take the L. Its what made Chelsea powerful. They were rolling over us, we let them attack, they made 100 shots and then bang, we hit them on counter. Everyone said we will lose, but we never gave up. I want that Chelsea, packed in new era. Fuck Pep and Klopp and their styles. I admit I admire good football from opposing side, but Chelsea wouldnt be Chelsea if it wasnt defensively balanced and deadly efficient. Maybe iz sounds weird, but thats our dna of roman era, reason I supported the club. We defy odds, we dont give shit about others, play our game and win. Be it by one shot-one goal and make everyone in the world mad. Playing super attacking football would just look too fancy. I want strong characters and never give up mentality back. Atletico is example to an extent, they just dont have the funds we had, but pretty much same mentality and phylosophy. EVERYONE in football screams for revolutions and attacking football. Imagine Chelsea back at their top dog game with pragmatic approach. Not giving shit about what world wants and thinks. We just played our way with plan to win. And piss off the rest of the world. Thats what we did in Didi, Lamps era.
-
Sarri would be great, but I have doubts going all attacking football all of a sudden. We played defensive yes, and thats one way. Going all out attack is the other way which I dont like either. We need a balance, something between. Pep is best in attacking football and you cant beat Pep if you go straight attack on him. Thats one big problem if we are going to do that. Pep dream world would be for every opponent to attack because he is the best at it and ultimately he would win against anyone. Teams that sit deep or play balanced efficient football kill him and he hates that. We shouldnt become all out attacking team because we will always be second best at that. We need to find balance because thats where Pep is weak, he doesnt have plan B.
-
Indeed, but with current board I'd say thats impossible. The club needs heart and soul to create something meaningful. Our board consists of people who are there to turn money around and make everything in balance, but no one knows jackshit how to create something, like SAF did back with United. I hate that word, but board is bunch of plastic people with exception of Roman. but he himself sadly doesnt have knowledge how to operate football club in sporting ways.
-
How is there still no action from the club? Some public announcement? I mean Willian publicly offended Conte who is first coach after we just won cup and the club will do jack shit about it?
-
I just hope shit hit the fan, we get Sarri in, world class striker, midfielder, sell the deadwood. Then we wake up..
-
Sarri is the only manager I would take right now. Maybe Tuchel, but he gone to Psg. Would be realy cool to finaly see Cfc play attacking football if we can get Sarri. Im getting excited, hopefuly we dont fuck up in transfer window and get few quality players
-
Low confidence isnt even the problem with this guy, stop pointing it out everytime he doesnt score. He was on fire in first half and was still missing one on ones with GK game after game. He is simply put, terrible finisher. He might get his "confidence" back and play good football, score headers, but that wont be enough for us to be top side. We need striker that can be reliable and deadly, someone who burries chances when given. Morata isnt that, with or without confidence. He will get another season to prove, but if he wants to improve, he will have to become more clinical, because even with confidence skyhigh, his finish is average at best.
-
Yeah he has talent, but seriously lacks discipline and brains. +he is LW/ST. We already have Eden on left, while I wouldnt trust Martial as main striker. The only way I can see him fit in this squad is something like this ---------------Tibo----------------- -Azpi-Chris-Rudi-Emerson- RLC/Baka-Kante-NEW CM -------------Hazard---------------- -------Martial-Morata----------- Morata gets support by another striker, Hazard gets his best role as free roaming AM, our midfield and defense looks solid, plus Martial and Eden can always cut in from wings, which adds diversity. We would however need constant support wide from Emerson and Azpi, question is if they are up to the task. Abraham would get decent play time too if we had 2 strikers. Add Bailey and we can always play 4:3:3 to shake things up aswell.
-
In order to get regular spot in club and more certain place in world club, Morata moved from Real in first place. Wonder how it feels now that he got that move and for the first time wasnt picked in Spain squad, despite playing more at Chelsea than Real or Juve before. Literaly the example of beware what you wish for.
-
Heh the guy extended contract with Atletico until 2026. Saul isnt moving anywhere anytime soon.
-
He should be suspended right away and probably sold in the summer. What a disgraceful act from what I thought was nice and hardworking player who might not be the best, but puts good performance on the occassion. But to do that against first coach, regardless if he stays or not should not be tolerated. Ship him off to wherever outside PL and get Bailey. He broke the rule and there is no going back IMO. I hope the board acts accordingly, because if we let that slip, any player could take advantage of us which is not good.
-
Young and Delph ahead of Bertrand? Cahill ahead of Tarkowski? England fails because they bring names instead of players who are good. You could form long term and pick lets say Pope and Tarkowski who are familiar from Burnley, but coach will end up playing Butland who was average this season and Cahill who is way past his best. On another point, I understand you want best players in your nt team, but when it comes to RLC Im very excited about him being picked, since Im not english, but Chelsea fan. And he was certainly best young english player this season along with TAA (not counting already established players like Alli, Sterling,...)...there are quite few others who are more questionable picks than RLC IMO.

It will take them at least another 10 years to get even close to United in terms of size. United is one of the very few clubs that can still rival Barca and Real even after several shit seasons, they are still giant club in popularity. That said, they will have to push for CL and with Pep I think they have a long way to go. They might dominate league, but in Europe they will get spanked again and again. I was proven right for two years now when I said it and I stand by it. Pep is one way manager and in europe you face such and such sides where you have to adapt. Not to mention CL is won by heart and bravery still. Pep and Barca was tiki taka yeah, but people forget how much desire and passion Puyol, Xavi, Messi, Iniesta had for the club. In Bayern, Pep changed whole philosophy and there was no results because he took everyrhing german out of that club. At City, he has bunch of quality players, but apart from Kompany and maybe Silva and Aguero, who is there that actualy cares for the club? Who is a diehard loyal player there? Real has Ramos, Modric,...they give 110% every game and motivate the squad. I just dont see current City squad to do the same, especialy not under Pep. The guy can absolutely destroy you in 8/10 games, but he cant adopt for those 2 and the opponent takes advantage which is enough. And no way can they actualy absolutely dominate europe. Barca was the closest to that and they werent perfect still. And they had loyal players who would die for that club, City doesnt have it. Sure once eventualy they will win it, but them, or PSG are clubs who want to buy everything and money doesnt actualy win you trophies. We wouldnt be successful without Terry, Lamps and Didi because they had heart set on the club, not because we had world class players in every position. Compared to Real with Zidane, Ronaldo,...Milan with Kaka,..Barca with Ronnie and we could still easily fight them because we had that spirit. City doesnt have that. You cant buy it. We were extremely lucky that we had money but also right players who became life long fans of Chelsea. That is slowly dying off and we are becoming worse year after year. City, Psg can spend 500m, until they actualy show passion on pitch they are worth fuck all. Sure they will roll over Crystal Palaces and Burnleys, but every quality team spanks them. It reminds me of Real when they bought Ronaldo and thought they can buy titles. It took them several years to grow as a club and now they actualy fight till last second to win the games. And even then, its hard to fight on all fronts every year. Just because City is good and maybe will be better next year, they wont be improving every year. They will drop the form and thats always in football world. What goes around comes around. Eventualy teams on top change. Regardless of that, I do fear about Chelsea. We are extremely shit on market for a while and we have to gear up. Not just buy more expensive, but look for Kante players, bit cheaper but very good.

Just curious, do you have any factual proof on this? Another topic, you mentioned Martial and Rojo to Juve with Sandro to United. Asking since you say it like its done deal, while I check and its pretty much all rumours for now.
-
Lets see what we do in summer without Emenalo. IMO Emenalo was never the problem, problem was not having someone with actual quality and experience in charge. Its not like there was someone realy talented under shadow of Emenalo and Emenalo leaving will give that man open arms. Now, there is no Emenalo anymore, but we didnt get anyone like Kenyon, not sure we will do any better with Marina. There were rumours about getting Lille director, but I hope thats not true. The man ordered (together with Bielsa) to get rid of every experienced player, which pushed Lille young inexperienced team (they have youngest team in europe) on brink of league 2. Not to mention they are being sued by Bielsa and french football federation reported Lille has empty bank and if they wont pay debts until july 1st, they will go straight to league 2 (they spent over 60m last summer). Talk about bad management.
-
We are apparently a big club and if we were ambitious, there would be no need for them to speak about the issue. Between you and me, you probably agree we need better players and more ambition too. I see bigger problem in players not performing or flirting with other clubs rather talk about us needing better transfers. In other words, its at least intent they do give a shit about club and want to succeed here. Heck Griezmann said the same thing about Atletico signings and showing ambition.
-
Not sure if this is the best thread for it, but I was thinking what is your opinion on new dates for PL clubs in summer window? As you know, usualy it starts on july 1st and ends on august 31th, but this year, new dates come with window opening tomorrow, on 17th May and closes on 9th august. Worth noticing, other leagues will have same old dates and they can buy players from PL even after window shuts down on 9th august. IMO nothing will change, except maybe for worse. As for early opening, players will probably wait till they get offers from other leagues to make final decision, so I doubt some big moves will happen before july 1st. As for closing date, the main reason to change it was that clubs can prepare for games in peace, meaning window ends couple days before first PL game. BUT since the players can still leave, I doubt it will be peaceful at all, let say you lose your key player on 15th august and you cant get replacement until january. Only thing that will change is prices going up even more because PL teams will probably want double after window shuts down. Not realy a fan, unless you do the business realy realy early and then you have long preseason for players to adopt, but even then, most players will take some time off in may and june and you are in same spot as if you signed the man in july. For Chelsea, since we are realy bad in doing deals early, I just hope we got prepared for this summer or everyone we want will already be gone before we even enter the market Your thoughts?

And who says players like Griezmann, Dybala, Asensio, Isco,...would even want to join us, never mind stay here to build a new era? Chelsea shown little ambition under Eden, doubt it will change now. And if it will, Eden will be told about it before he gets sold and it might persue him to extend. When we talk like for like replacements for Eden, we dont have pull power, project, or quality to get them. Even if we get the likes of Asensio they would fuck of to Real as soon as they would get a call. Sure, we might sell Eden and buy Fekir and Bailey, but the club has no clue how to get that done. We would probably buy Martial instead who is a lazy and tacticaly inept, we would be even worse than this season. I like Eden, but dont get me wrong, I like club more. Back when we sold Robben, I didnt like it, but I knew we will find replacements. Today, I think we have to keep Eden at all costs because we cant get good players. Honestly I think Eden will extend eventualy. The problem is on board because we need good players regardless and we did awful job past three windows, bar Kante.
-
Hmm, Im not so sure about that. Courtois should be sold this summer if he doesnt extend, no doubt. But Hazard? His role at club is simply too big right now. We need to bring players that can replace him and within two years, they get the mantle and Eden leaves if that is the case. The transition is easy. If you do this now, when we already are average team bar Eden, Kante, Azpi, you think we can compete with big teams? Because we cant stay without CL two times in row. We already have the cash to buy 3 quality players, there is no doubt about it. The board ability and our attraction are other things. If we sell Eden, surely attraction goes evn lower. Keeping Eden for next two years, while periodicaly buying around 2-3 players each summer window, will give us enough power for next season and new players fitting in the team. After two years, they take some of workload and losing Eden wont be that hard, even on free. I just dont trust board can replace Eden, because money was never the problem and we are buying average players for years now with one or two exceptions. People just dont see past the money, do they. Sell the guy because he will give us 150m...two years of great performances by Eden are worth more than those 150m. I agree with you though, we need to rebuild the team, be it with Eden or without. Going two more seasons with Eden and not improving and then losing him for free with no players to take mantle from him will be a disaster. But as long we get proper players over next two years, I dont care if Eden leaves on free. His role at the club was huge, there would be no hard feelings.

I dont know what happend but what I know is Conte turned into one of those pragmatic, small balls managers who play it safe. Emerson was playing great, Alonso comes back from ban and Emerson doesnt get a sniff anymore. OR, playing 5:3:2 which shown some of the worst offensive displays I have seen in long time. We already suck, but he decides to pull out Willian/Pedro for another defensive midfielder...when we play 3:4:3, the attack is never fluid and disorganized, lacks creativity. Cmon, I only accept such tactics if there are results, but we failed in so many games and yet, he still insists on them. There might also be player power, either way we are piss poor under Conte since 2018. Either way, we could play better football and still get these results. I supported Chelsea for ages and I understood why we play that way, but when there is no results, no one will accept watching defensive football.
-
Yeah but partly thats because they defend as a team and attack as a team. Here, you see Kante doing 4 man job because Eden, Morata, Cesc and Willian often stop giving a shit. In a perfect world, Eden would do the tracking back but he would also get support in attack by the players like Modric/Silva, Marcelo/Ghoulam,... We lack such quality players, but even if we had them, we still have to change our style. Im not sure what Conte is thinking, but his juve was team with everyone tracking back and working as a team. Here he either changed the approach and made us very defensive and reactive instead of proactive: or the players simply dont give a shit about his instructions. Anyway you are right about Eden and he should do more tracking back, but its fair to point out that despite he isnt realy efficient, Eden is often the only player on this team that actualy wants to attack and play football. I remember many games this season, he was trying to make something, but everyone else just stood back and didnt get involved in attack. That said, anyone who thinks selling Eden is good idea is, pardon my words fucking idiot. People thought the same about replacing Costa, but Eden is even more important. We just splashed 150m on Morata, Drinks and Bakayoko. Let that sink it. Even if we get alot of money for Eden, the club wont bring quality replacements.
-
He was absolute top class this season. But then again, Parejo, Gabriel, Murillo,...were all very good too (after being crap for a while before this season). If Kondogbia keeps this level for another season, he just might turn into player he was expected to become, but right now I wouldnt be taking gambles after we alredy have Bakayoko.

Well if it doesnt work with another manager, we should just dump the squad and start fresh. If our players arent commited and willing to fight for the club, we wont win shit for a long time.
-
Hazard was going deep to collect the ball alot because we dont have anyone else that can drive the ball from midfield to attack. But he didnt help defensive duties indeed. I dont see him in 3 man midfield though, should play either on wings, behind striker or #10. He isnt #8 althrough he can get pick the ball in midfield and push forward by dribbling or passing diagonaly forward.
-
As much as I still feel he can turn good, he will have to work harder. His confidence is low, it makes very hard to play football. But that is no excuse to just stroll around all the time. This mofo is a DM/B2B and he has to start chasing after every ball near him, not jog like he is on fucking vacation. If he was good at marking, he wouldnt need to run, but he is always in wrong position, so there is no other way.
