We have about 1/3rd less cash each summer compared to City, so yeah they can beat us there any day. BUT if we had smart board, we have enough cash to make great side. However we get rid of quality talent all the time and buy overrated shit. We dont have a DoF that would make some sort of plan for at least 2 summer windows and solve our key issues systematically. We also splash cash on overrated or unproven and overpriced players. 40m on Drinkwater? 60m on Pulisic?,... We are somehow ready to splash 70m on Morata and 70m on Kepa, but at the same time we are not ready to pay bit more for quality unless its direct replacement for someone leaving. Our expensive additions came in Kepa who replaced Tibo, Morata who replaced Costa and Jorginho who replaced Bakayoko who replaced Matic. Pulisic I have feeling will be Hazard replacement if he leaves. I have to wonder what did board expect in summer when they appointed Sarri. Sure he got Jorginho, but we also saw Kante shifted in different role, Azpi in entirely different system (both very consistent previous seasons), fullbacks who are realy bad for Sarri football, Morata who was just shit. Same goes for our players on RW. Then cherry on top, our midfield who should be extremely solid with all those players, turns to be our weak point after few months. No defensive stability, no creativity etc. In other words, if this club wants Sarri to succeed, either they have to spend like crazy or spend realy realy realy smart. I dont think we have capacity to do either.

First things first, Alonso and Barkley have zero quality to be anywhere near first 11. Both are good enough only for cup games and bottom of the PL. Thats where we should start in summer. There is no excuse that Alonso got his extension. He can rot on the bench for few years, but the board shouldnt be that stupid to not buy new LB just because of Alonso contract. Its obvious any good club would replace him as soon as possible. If he remains our LB next season, we are definately done as elite club. Then you have to deal with CB (Luiz), (DM) Jorginho, (RW)Pedro/Willian, (ST)Higuain, maybe (LW) Hazard if he leaves,... Oh what fun.

Busquets and Barca is actualy nice example. No way were Xavi and Iniesta defensive masterminds, it all came to collective defending. Entire team pressed the opponents and it did the trick. Also they had most of possesion, so they had much less defending to do. At Chelsea we still dont know how to keep possesion. When opponenents let us have the ball, we do nothing with it and when they press, we lose it quite quickly. But more importantly, our collective defending is shite. Jorginho like Busquets is our holding man, but unlike Busquets he has little help. Kante is often way too far, Barkley is useless in defence, not to mention Alonso who is never where he should be. Hazard has to cover up for his ass which is a disgrace. If our back 4 and both midfielders closed space, Jorginho wouldnt be as exposed as he is. He is weak and slow and will never be fantastic DM, but if whole team cooperated in defense, he would look much more solid. I cant realy fault him for his defense, because that simply depends on whole team. His offense is weak though. No excuse for him to hoof the ball in the stands when he has the time to execute a perfect pass. He gets pressed often, but I have seen it every game he is completely free with alot of time and he completely fucks up a long pass. Thats individual quality and he seems to have zero confidence in him. Either that or he is simply not the player we thought he is when we bought him.
-
His defensive and offensive contribution definately depend on collective game too, but I can say his long balls are beyond shit for a while now. For someone who plays a role where you have to be pass master, his long passing is realy realy bad. He just flicks them way too hard and they end up too far ahead of our players. Not to mention his short passing. He has this weird habbit of rarely passing the ball on the ground. He hoofs it in mid-air and its hard for his teammates to control it.

I remember when Drinkwater had an ok game (scored a nice goal) against shit opponent and people were already "must play this guy ahead of Cesc, he can be great blah blah. Dont know if some are just so naive or wanted to comfort themselves over the fact we forked out 40m for him and he just has to be this good.

You need a manager that can adopt to PL, can apply his style and likely has to integrate youth. He needs player to follow him no matter what. Also the board needs to back manager with everything available. Need this player? Ok, we will get him. And for that you need competent DoF. We seem to have nothing. Im all for sticking to one manager, but first we need Dof and board that will provide full backing of whoever they bring. Just like we lost 6:0 and its easy to call Sarri and players a joke, the board and club are one massive joke for a while now, except they hide behind the squad and manger and blame them for everything.
-
Id take 3:0 defeats, shit happens. But 6:0 is our record in PL and it comes after 4:0 defeat to bournemouth. We are a fucking joke now. I have honestly a feeling that Chelsea is becoming Milan of premier league... Doubt there will be a revolution and we will be back to best. Just too many problems from owner, board, manager to players. Once Eden leaves, our reality will be 6th place behind every big team in england. Maybe after 5 years or so we will return like Pool did if board finaly get shit together and build a team instead of spending money left and right with no plan. Sad time.
-
Lol not even close. The quality of the league isnt anywhere near 2004-2010. Its like juve. They are winning title after title because league is a joke. Put them in gold age of serie a, they wont be anywhere near dominant. Until they win CL and at least another title ahead of Pool, they have no business being touted best PL team ever. They were a joke in europe so far, lets see how they do this year.
-
They didnt score for 10min now guys. Lets celebrate
-
Hazard surrounded by Alonso and Barkley. Wonderful way to get the best out of your player Sarri.
-
Alonso doesnt know what his name is right now, nevermind where is the ball.
-
Alonso City's MOTM
-
Under Zidane he was in and out. He started as sub, got in first 11 and became key player and then next season he got extremely inconsistent, still played alot of games, but wasnt anywhere near irreplacable and Zidane didnt use him in some key games. Then he started bitching about it.
-
United with one of worst first half of season runs and they still managed to catch us. Realy sums up our crap performances. We better win today to compensate.
-
Benched by Vazquez and Vinicious and this guy is who would be great to replace Hazard. Same goes for Asensio who is even more overrated. What a fucking joke. Get players that have big roles in smaller clubs instead of going for Real Madrid rejects. Football isnt just about flashy tricks. Its about consistency and tactics and Isco doent know a thing about it. Also their mentality is beyond shit. We already have enough of that crap in our team already. You think Isco will be giving 100% every weekend just to see us race for top 4 spot after playing for Madrid and winning CLs on regular basis? I can see him throwing tantrums and bitch about it every week. Fekir, Pepe etc are the players we should target. Players with lot of quality and who will see Chelsea as the club that gave them top of the football, not some primadonnas from spain.

Injury prone and in a massive decline. Sounds like a great deal.

Year 2167 "I havent decided yet."
-
Alonso easily. He has been a blast this season.
-
I dont give a flying feck if he talks about Madrid as long he gives his best in every game. He is here 7 years and aside from one shit season, he delivered superb seasonal performances. Chelsea ambitions never matched Edens potential, its understandable he was always keen to win trophies, especialy CL. Despite that he sticked here and still behaved way way better compared to the likes of Courtois who was proper cunt. If people are so sensitive about his madrid talk, lets not pretend Lampard didnt want to move (or force club for bigger paycheck) by talking of other clubs. Hell he even went to play for city in the end. Or Cech to arsenal for that matter. But they are all legends.
-
Barkley made more forward passes today than in entire season before.
-
When Hazard is motivated, not only he is from another planet, but different universe compared to rest of our team. Kudos to Higuain, tonight he shown whats it like to have reliable striker. First goal was simple no nonsense shot and second one was worldie. He made some shit passes and lost ball (needs to react quicker) but still managed to do his job perfectly which is why we got him.

SarriOut
-
Indeed. But we need players with more end product. We already have young talent in CHO if we want to develop.
-
Should have gone for this guy instead of Pulisic. He isnt finished article and needs quite some tactical learning because he loses the ball a bit too often and doesnt track enough, but Pulisic isnt finished product either. Pepe has way more end product and directness compared to Pulisic.
-
I agree. But the players are that way because clubs tolerate that shit. If Sarri benches such player, he gets the sack while player gets backing by entire board. They know that and thats the real problem.
