Kai? Puli? Never. It would take Odoi to play 10-20 games in row to leave any sort of mark. One game wont change shit. And only if someone gets injured, he will get those 10+ games. Sancho at the time wasnt "good enough" to play so Pep didnt play him. But you dont judge them on now, but on 1,2, 5 years from now. Can Odoi be great player then? Yes. What does he need to achieve? Faith and playtime as in first 11, week in and out. Will we do that? No because we forked 200m on others. So no, playtime here and there with side role isnt gonna make CHO or anyone else here a worldbeater.

Ohh FFS can you people stop shitting after the youth every single game? Offcourse Odoi struggles. He was injured plenty and then played every blue moon. These players need to catch game rhytm to move forward. Give him, and RLC some fucking time. I swear some here are so spoiled. We had chance to see how far he will reach as our AM, but instead we forked 90m on new shiny toy. I guess we will be more competitive, but thats clear goodbye to having faith in our youth. Using them as rotation and state they will get playtime isnt exactly like putting them on the front line and belive they will succeed. Im not mad about our spending, but I also hoped we will actualy develop our players and in few years, there will be couple from our youth system forming our winning core. Truth now is only James has some chance as starter. Tomori PLAYED here and was big success last first half of season, now he is about to be loaned out. Enough said how much we trust him. RLC has little chance now with the competition. Mount is never getting ahead of Kai or Puli unless they flop. He will be good rotation player, but thats not exactly leading the team is it. Tammy, ok, he is super limited but same. Odoi maybe, but if Ziyech is our man for next 3 years, Odoi will waste key years on bench. Cup games here and there with PL game once every blue moon isnt it. They need to play week in and out like Sancho. Get that rhytm and consistency. But it is what it is. It always looked too good to be true tbh.

I think this could backfire badly. 2/3rds of squad brand new, plenty of cash spent and we will never hear again about Tomori, Tammy, Odoi, RLC, Mount; at least not in as starting players...

ziyech and kai are also lefties, so that will add extra options to our play. We have been lacking a proper left footed winger for ages.

Its the game sample thats too small. Onana had 10/10 season in eredivisie last year, but only about 7/10 this year. Maybe Martinez is top GK, maybe it was just a run.

This made me think; Chilwell isnt brilliant crosser, but its not like we have Lewa in attack. So I guess the game will be played on the ground. Im not the biggest fan of this because there isnt enough versatility, but at least Kai is tall and might cause some danger in air.

Im just saying its pointless to point out age for every single player, nevermind state he is soon 30, should avoid etc. Also Silva is 36, when he was 30 he wouldnt be free transfer. Football is going in the way where players play for longer thanks to better training and nutrition. Nowdays its not uncommon to have a longer career than before. Modric isnt freak of nature, yet he is still class at 34. Players peak at 30, so if someone is still world class, why not? You dont have entire team of 30 yos, but few are no problem. If we were a built team ala City, lacking one quality CB, not splashing 80m on Koulibaly just because of age would be the worst reasoning. He could go on another 4 years at top. Shown no slowing down. Meanwhile if players have injuries or show some decline at 28 ala Kante or Hazard, thats another thing. Most players are fit however. It also depends on position. Wingers, fullbacks are a risk. Midfielders, CBs and GKs arent Cesc was in big physical decline when we signed him, yet he still put a show. And he was in decline. There are many midfielders who cope just fine. Thiago from Bayern will likely play at top if he stays injury free for at least 3 years. If someone said he isnt worth buying because of the age, Id laugh.

tbh this dude is example how funny people look when they constantly say stuff like ohh Koulibaly or xyz is soon 30 etc... If we signed Thiago when he was 29, he would deliver at least 5 seasons at the top level. Same with Ramos. Ballack and Maka were also "old" when we signed them.

Most still prefer Bernd. And Martinez didnt perform long enough to be evaluated like that. Surely he is an option, but who knows if its what we need. That said for 10m risk wouldnt be big. IMO if Lopes was taller, he would be my pick and we would have GK set for few years.

Why does Arse want to flock him out then? Leno is good GK, but I never rated him outstanding. So Martinez should definately get the chance at least if he is this good. Yeah Onana has flaws, he can be frustrating and didnt have great season in eredivisie like last year. But there is upside with him. Same with Maignan. Honestly this GK situation doesnt have a clear cut winner. Everyone we have been linked has weaknesses. Even Oblak for instance. I just hope we make good decision here. Kepa isnt the answer either IMO.

With all the new players around, what do you think our goals are next season? Do you reckon Roman will demand some titles or will Lamps be given time to evolve? If he fails to win any silverware, could he get the axe? Surely the squad is brand new and needs time, but if Roman is as ambitious once again, could he be ruthless too? We built a new team in 2004 and titles were immediately demanded... On one hand we did spend alot and much quality came into this side, so big improvements are expected, but IMO its very young side that needs time, two seasons at least. Let the new boys and our youth develop properly and we will prosper soon. What are your expectations?

brillant transfer, reminds me of old days when we were signing the likes of Deco, Ballack, Maka, Beletti,...who apparently were too old, but still put a big mark here. The only part I worry is his decline. Like you said, Terry at 35 was a beast, year later simply not good enough anymore tbh. Thiago knows the challenge and hopefuly he is ready to go for a season or two more at top level. Also him agreeing only for 1 year makes me wonder if he agreed to that because he knows he might not be able to keep up with the league for longer.

Id think so too, but there have been rumours about Lamps being done with Kepa...take it with pinch of salt but if anyhow true we are getting a new GK. Plus all the rumours this summer were legit. I doubt Maignan, Onana are bs by media. I mean why would we bring all these players in one window and stick with GK that will guarantee no titles? Like I said it before, good GK is the foundation to any team and that is our main problem.

So Chelsea and Inter couldnt agree in 3 months since Emerson was linked, but Roma and Inter agree in few days for Kolarov. We managed to make some outstanding sales, but sometimes our board looks like complete amateurs. Takes ages to get rid of players we no longer need...
