The 3-5-2 rarely works. Remember Tuchel and Conte using it vs City and it always led to the same problem - nowhere to go in attack. Like yesterday - 5-6 defensive players surround 2 lightweight forwards - Felix and Sterling. The attack had Courtois in its sights maybe 3 times in the whole game - Felix, Sterling and Mount chances. The plan was to park the bus but this squad was way too talented to be consigning ourselves to 2012 CL tactics.

We are devoid of any ideas on the pitch now. The last two games have been worse than any in the Potter run barring Spurs away. The board deserves this for hiring Lampard without so much as a recruiting process
-
Will we ever score again 😀
-
Conte vs City 2017 levels of cowardice in tactics today.
-
Fuck all tactical preparation done for this game and it shows
-
Honestly we had a better chance with Potterball
-
This will be a long night the pressing has evaporated
-
There are no routes out of the defensive third
-
He's shown he's far more reliable than Koulibaly and Cucurella (whose only decent game is the Dortmund home leg)
-
Plenty on here saw this coming. One of the several miscalculations this year. The only reason Badiashile is not starting in the league is because he's not in the CL squad I think
-
Owners good PR lasted all of two days
-
Rock bottom of rock bottoms going into this one. Weirdly think we’ll show up
-
Couldn’t go to the Bernebeu in worse spirits
-
Well you can’t miss chances if you don’t make any

He did a good job promoting the youth and putting together a decent 2019-20 season But I don't want to single out Lampard since its a larger problem but his appointment is an example of how recruitment favors candidates like him. There are zero black managers in the league now that Vieira was sacked. While Lampard keeps getting endless opportunities and us fans think he will one day get things right. Liverpool have scored around 80 points more than Chelsea in the last 5 seasons. They're ahead in the league table now and won two cup finals vs Chelsea last year. They've struggled this year and in 2020-21 but both times they seem to be finishing above Chelsea. In the other years, we've been comfortably behind them. As much as I want to say the 2021 CL win makes our achievements comparable, it really isn't even close.

What is this rewriting of history. Tuchel devised a plan in the flight to London that completely changed the way we played and brought a lot of control to our game. Rudiger and Jorginho were installed as first-teamers - they would go onto be crucial in the CL win. Lampard was playing Zouma over Rudiger - look at the difference in their careers. From the first game vs Wolves, you felt this was a completely different Chelsea under Tuchel and Lampard did very little to set any of that up. Defense and midfield were great, the attack somehow managed to scrape the goals needed in the knockout games - really should have won vs Atleti, Real and City by bigger margins if the attack could finish then.

Lol no - Remember Lampard got schooled in the FA Cup final vs Arteta too. Arsenal with Holding, Luiz, Bellerin etc in the lineup comfortably merited the win that day. He really is a limited coach - everything from his time at Chelsea, Everton has already spelt this out. Being a white, ex-player with connections will help you keep getting opportunities it seems. This nostalgia appointment won't help us a lot now. Carefully drilled attacking patterns will help - that is how City, Liverpool are far ahead, how Arteta is developing Arsenal. 29 goals in 29 games this season. Even though the finishing is an issue, there is a bigger underlying problem - we don't have a coherent attacking plan for a long time at the club. Club needs to nail the next appointment in the summer and Lampard should be far from the shortlist.
-
This theory was already disproved couple of years ago. This DNA nonsense is what got Frank to the club in the first place and has been hired again now without too much of a recruitment process.
-
Or this is a hoodwink. Owners know a transfer ban is coming for their spending. They’ve got Lampard since he has navigated this situation before 😀
-
He seems to have done something about his hair
-
We had 1.5 years of Lampard-ball. We know he's very limited as a coach. I appreciate all the intent he will bring to the club but it's a 9-game farewell tour. Nothing more.
-
100 m on his is not looking as bad as 30m on Koulibaly and 55m on Cucurella
-
and benched Totti, dropped Sergio Ramos. His man management is good and I'm intrigued if he is indeed the appointment
-
He makes an annoying number of updates to squeeze every drop of info out of a story but he's not been caught bullshitting. His track record is near perfect. Even after the Villa game, he was saying Chelsea is having an internal meeting when other Chelsea sources were saying Potter will be the manager for the Liverpool game.
