  1. i am not comparing them as right backs. i am only comparing their crossing
  2. i'm not saying he wont represent in a good way but the fact is luiz is a bit of a hot head. you won't see cahill lunging in for a 2-footed tackle on the half way line. you won't see cahill trying to dribble his way out of trouble. the thing about luiz is that he won't be taken seriously because that's who he is. the only plus point about luiz for captain is his passion for the club but that's about it. cahill is a much better choice
  3. his crossing is not good. has gone only from bad to worse this season.real crossing is to shape the ball with pace (jarvis, albrighton etc) but as ivanovic is a right back, he can be excused for that but all ivanovic does is dump it in. his accuracy is not good. last week against norwich was the first good cross by ivan in ages. i have watched him closely since he became a right back. his crossing and his decision-making to cross were both dreadful but have been markedly improved in the last 2 seasons. still he's no Belletti or Fereira. those 2 were excellent crossers during their time
  4. we dont really play wingers. that's why we don't rely on crosses and also no Drogba anymore. the width is provided by the full-backs Cole is really our only good crosser. consistently pings good crosses into the area. ivanovic can't cross to save his life. admittedly, that was a good cross to torres against norwich but that was a moving ball passed by mata. his crossing from stationary balls is woeful.
  5. is there evidence that he is professional? there is more evidence pointing to the fact that he is the joker in the team. you can't accuse us of assuming things when really, it's there for everyone to see. David Luiz is the joker in the team. sure, he maybe professional at times but i wouldn't want a person like luiz leading the team out. as jason already mentioned he is representing the team on and off the pitch and someone calm/mature is a better way to go also, the captain needs to deal with the ref right? and luiz is not exactly fluent in english. that's another con of having luiz as captain.
  6. he himself said it. "I'm an extrovert, a joker, and I didn't want to change my character when I moved to England. Yes, it was hard, but I wanted to show that Brazilians are happy people, and this is me." again, when you think of a captain's role in football, u need a cool head who keeps things professional. that way gary cahill is a better choice anyday. i can see the case made for luiz as he is popular, positive etc but i don't agree that he should become captain because he is not exactly calm and professional on or off the pitch. there are many occassions when he tries to play his way out of trouble or makes a rash challenge ( against newcastle, and against Stoke (Walters))
  7. still no evidence on or off the pitch that he is captain material. he is the joker in the team. not the hard hitting professional leader we have now. but he does have his moments. in the CL Final, Mata later admitted that he had lost hope after his early penalty miss and it was David Luiz who had helped him/cheered him up during the shootout. he is a great guy. really positive but i would draw a line between positive and professional
  8. doesn't really stick out as a leader. the captain should be level headed . he has to deal with the referee on behalf of the team. i don't think the ref will see david's sense of humor
  9. umm. hang on. i am changing my team again
  10. still i'd rather take my chances with suarez at home to reading than tevez away at west brom. i am gonna get tevez in for next week
  11. dont be so sure of that. tevez may not start - CL game comin up and Mancini has options. i am gonna go with Suarez and Jelavic who have relatively easy games and then switch to Tevez next week. also, hoping for good games for cazorla (norwich away) and jarvis (soton home)
  12. but as i said, the captain is responsible with handling the affairs with the referee. cech cant do that. and instead of havin 2-3 captains, why not have just one outfield player - Gary Cahill
  13. don't really see the need for more than 1 captain at chelsea when we can hardly pick out one real leader apart from terry and lampard. cahill is the only unanimous name going around and he still needs time
  14. yeah played it. i dunno what to do though. changing the squad every now and then
  15. it is just nonsense to link the policy of more than 1 captain to real madrid's success. now if swindon town makes this policy of 2-3 captains u say they'll succeed? i don't get your point at all, if you are even making one
  16. yeah. i guess they included penalties won by hazard as well.
  17. 2nd and 3rd captains simply fly against the face of the whole concept of captaincy in football.
  18. juan mata - nah. he's a class act on the pitch but he hasn't got the temperament to be a captain. Even Cech cannot be captain. the captain needs to speak with ref and defend his players . cech cant do that 50 metres away from the referee gary cahill seems to be a good choice now
  19. 1. Gary Cahill - although as a captain i would want him to celebrate cup wins a bit more than he did last season 2. Ryan Bertrand - long term stability although he has loads to improve
  20. yeah. united galatasaray was bumped ahead of barca's matchday one game after united fans did a similar "twition". hope it works now although i have to say there are a lot more united fans than cfc ones
  21. united vs braga or barca vs celtic i suppose.the cfc shakhtar game is on ten hd ffs
  22. few plus points to that - he offers width as you said - he has got a good defensive side to his game - strong and quick - spurs fullbacks will be overlapping and moses will find some space out wide on the counter - one of the maestros will be rested for shakhtar but he was poor against Wolves. needs to be much better against Vertonghen(?)
