I think this is a product of thinking every player is an asset. Bakayoko is negative value at this point and I don't see him having a good enough season to convince anyone to actually pay for him. Let him and the dregs just run down their contracts.
Credit to Marina/board tbh - lot of the dregs are out/on the way out. Striker is in. Some questionable deals like Guehi, Tomori but overall a good summer. A month ago people on her were constantly at it saying we're repeating 2017 all over again - its been nothing like it.
Even Ampadu. Not overly worried about CM 4
Squad is also stacked in attacking positions - Pulisic, CHO, Ziyech - one of them is going to find it hard to be in the XI without injuries
Really love how Lukaku came across in the interviews, clips posted yesterday. Doesn't feel like a new signing that needs time because he knows so many of the guys - remembers Azpi and the academy boys, knows Rudi, Zouma. I loved that bit where he says he told Havertz to join Chelsea when Inter faced Leverkusen in the Europa League. This is very different from the Lukaku that was in England years ago - he seems mentally more relaxed, at peace with himself. I think this Lukaku and Tuchel will be a good fit - definitely looking forward to the season that little bit more now.
Tammy, Batshuayi. Ugbo and Miazga are going but shows the depth of the dregs that there's still a half a dozen or so to go
Zappa, Drinkwater, Barkley, Sarr, Emerson,
I find the glee among some fans celebrating his departure very distasteful. The "he can't play football", "misses most of his chances" narrative is very tiring- he did score 21 goals in 58 games. He's just not the starting striker for a team challenging for the league.
