You could say the same when Conte changed to a 4-4-2 on Monday. The approach might have been extremely basic but the key thing was we didn't panic and were calm enough to execute the plan.
-
But not with this team. It's an alien concept! The only time we appeared to have a genuine plan when changing formation to chase the win was in that home win against PSG 2 years ago.

I have a reputation to protect, you know.

#ConteCam and #KloppCam are going to be fun when we play Liverpool next month.

That depends. If you're looking to dominate teams in the sense of running the game and dictating the play, then Fabregas is your man. But if you're looking to dominate teams in the physical aspect, then you go to Oscar. Today might not be a game suited for Fabregas but there will be some where he'll be needed, like against Burnley, Hull etc. Remember how we went from bad at breaking defensive teams down in 13/14 to tearing up those same sides in 14/15 with Fabregas in the side? Well, that's an ongoing issue with him and others in the side but for now, I'm just going to ignore that.

Oh, surprised @Gilvorak hasn't jumped in here too!

FIRST goal from outside the box for us and big time to get that.
-
Arguably the second best performer against West Ham and not one word on Oscar? I've been critical of him but to give him his due, at least for this game, he was superb. His workrate, intensity, commitment were all spot on today. He was crucial in helping us to dominate West Ham.

First game of the season and he's already not afraid of making some big decisions! - Dropped Fabregas, who's one of our only two main creative source in the team - Took Hazard off when the game was at 1-1. Most, if not all the other managers wouldn't have taken the most important player off in that situation - Played 2 strikers upfront, UPFRONT when we needed to chase the win. It was risky but refreshing to see that. Tired of seeing managers put 2 strikers in the XI, only to see them put one out wide

It might have been only the first game but that was a huge win, for Conte and for us especially after how we ended last season (and not to mention, that dreadful home record). Thought the most impressive thing in the win was our intensity and pressing. Apart from the first 10 and last 15 minutes, we were absolutely dominant. We pressed as a unit, weren't afraid to put the challenges in and won plenty of the tackles, including the 2nd balls and 50-50 challenges. West Ham barely got out of their own half! The only downside was we didn't convert our dominance into goals, which is still a problem for us. We played with a lot of intensity but didn't really create enough clear cut chances and it's concerning that Hazard looked more likely to create something than anyone else. But since it's a new season and with a new manager, can only hope we'll get better with that.

Their results suggest otherwise... Big deal if they've scored more goals than anyone else when they can't keep clean sheets. Liverpool geting Skrtel and Toure and it hardly makes a difference when their replacements aren't any better and it's not like Klopp is good at organizing his team defensively. His Dortmund team were good to watch, for instance, but can be prone to conceding stupid goals along the way.

Putting aside Willian for one moment, I find it ridiculous and even laughable that people overrate Mahrez. One good season and he's suddenly a world beater in the eyes of many.
-
Let's not get carried away with Liverpool, just because of one win against Arsenal and especially against an Arsenal side missing their key defenders. Granted, they don't defend well with their first choice defenders but certainly won't have been as bad as yesterday. If anything, yesterday's game summed up Liverpool under Klopp - look decent going forward but rubbish at the back and one minute they look brilliant, the next absolutely appalling. The only reason people are regarding them as legitimate contenders for anything is because of Klopp but put him aside for one minute and you'll realize they aren't all that great. A few decent players and a whole bunch of average ones in the team. There's not one player you can genuinely say 'he's world class and will walk into any of the best clubs' first XI'.

Maybe Mazzarri sees him as a left back as well. Could play as a marauding wing back if Mazzarri is going with the back 3.
-
Forgot about Ake. Ake was the most successful loanee. Bertrand, Moses, Van Ginkel got decent minutes during their loan. But apart from that, the rest were failures, weren't they?
-
A Premier League loan? It will turn out like what happened in the past - the loanees barely getting minutes at the club.

Not 100% sure but don't think it was with Chelsea TV. In any case, here's what he said in full. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3714397/Nemanja-Matic-warms-Chelsea-stay-given-special-feeling-new-boss-Antonio-Conte.html
