The players around him don't help much in regards to the latter. Baka couldn't even hit the target with his sitter I don't think he helps himself sometimes either. The chance that was cleared off the line against Brighton? Could have shot first time with his left foot but overdid it. Same goes for the later one where we had only Ryan to beat. It's almost as if he's trying to score the picture perfect goal.

Shit first half. Much better in the second. Whatever Conte said at the break clearly worked. Decent showing, good win and a clean sheet. Job done.

Christensen rested apparently.
-
No Christensen!

I know we have issues of breaking down defensive teams but Southampton aren't even as bothered as they were at the Bridge the other day.
-
As Tomo mentioned above, he looked good that season because everyone else was so, so bad. When everyone else is on it, as we have seen many other times, his limitations is there for all to see.
-
That's a very Brendan Rodgers-esque comment there. We may be pragmatic, we may play with lots of defensive players but they mean nothing if we don't have players capable of defending. A number of other teams have tried to be pragmatic but have failed with it - e.g. Liverpool, Arsenal.
-
Thankfully, we can defend. Joint-second best defence in the league. Otherwise, we would be in a worse position right now.
-
Fixed. The ones on Twitter are even worse!

As lucashm mentioned above, Mount has been getting game time at Vitesse and has started the last 10 games! Then again, shouldn't be surprised at The Sun's pathetic attempt of news reporting. Metro are idiots as well for not even checking the facts!

There are talks of Zidane getting the sack at the end of the season, especially if he doesn't win the Champions League.

Do you want Conte out because you're not happy with his decisions or match results? I don't mean this as a criticism of your opinion but just a general response to this 'Conte OUT' talk. Have seen many fans calling Conte to go because they are not happy with his decisions. Sure, Conte has made dodgy decisions in/for some matches since he's been here and deserves to be criticized for them but it's rather contradicting that most of us, if not everyone, has craved for some managerial stability, for the manager to stay at least 3-4 years and build something good but want him gone ASAP because of some decisions, even when results - over the course of the reign - are generally good. Every manager in the world makes dodgy decisions and no will agree with them all the time and each of them has their some flaws that may annoy us all to death but are we seriously gonna call for him to be tossed aside solely based on them, even when he's delivering good results on the pitch? It feels like we have been here many times before with previous managers. At this rate, we'll be just left with the Sean Dyches, Eddie Howes of this world to hire in the future. If Conte is making dodgy decisions and not delivering the results, then fine. You can seriously question his ability to lead this side to success and maybe sack him but he is delivering the results and given he won the title in his first season with a relatively average squad, would like to think that gives him some credibility/leeway when talking about sacking him. And I know this may sound cliche at this point but not sure if anyone else is capable squeezing out results with the current squad. All good talking about bringing someone like Tuchel in but we don't have the players to play his style and if we don't get players that's capable of implementing that, then we will just end with another AVB situation, especially when Tuchel doesn't do pragmatism and is not the best when it comes to organizing defences. His Dortmund side, for instance, tended to concede plenty of stupid goals and there's almost one every game. This is probably a long shot given how we have operated in recent years but genuinely hoping that Man City's dominance this season has given the board the 'kick up the arse' treatment and back Conte in future transfer window (windows?) so that we can sustain our challenge for the major trophies season in season out. Conte must be cursing his luck when it comes to transfers. Wanted more at Juventus but didn't get it and now experiencing the same here. He's been managing average squads, filled with some quality here and there, and not able to show what he can do with an actual quality squad. Give Conte the players that HE wants and see how he does. If he does well, then yay. If not, then we can start looking elsewhere. No manager is gonna survive here if they aren't given sufficient backing by the board.
-
If you expect him to do Hazard or Willian things, then you're gonna be disappointed because he's not a player who takes the ball and aims to beat players. Pedro combines with players like Hazard and Willian and gets on the end of things. You said Pedro is doing nothing in games but what about chances that he tends to get at the end of? Do you see Hazard or Willian get into those goalscoring positions as often as Pedro does?
-
Aubameyang, apparently, signed a contract till 2021 last week. Think Dortmund will let him go but I highly doubt he will come cheap.
-
And who would you suggest anyway? We only have Fabregas as our creative midfielder. Playing Kante is not the issue. Playing Bakayoko/Drinkwater along with Kante in a midfield 2 when the plan is to dominate is the issue.
-
Maybe if the board hadn't tried to penny pinch for every transfer target and wait till the final day, we wouldn't be left looking for scraps and which club are willing to sell their player.
-
Hardly news but awful again when he came on. Tried to take on 2-3 Everton all by himself every time rather than pass and keep the move going. Ended up losing so much possession.
-
We BADLY need a goalscorer. You know there's issues when our third highest scorer in the league this season is a WB with FOUR goals! Think it was you who mentioned this previously but our lack of goalscorers, compared to some of the others, haven't been exposed due to our defensive solidity. Conte is a pragmatic manager by nature anyway but you wonder if his extra conservatism some in games this season is because he knows this team doesn't score many goals. Hence, he doesn't want to risk too much in certain situations, rather take a point if he can help it than lose all and fall behind the others.
