  1. Okay Pizy, I heard you the first time...
  2. Someone has to question Klopp TBH. Is Van Dijk really that good? Is there no one else who's got similar abilities and perhaps even better than Van Dijk that will cost far less than 75 million?
  3. Gotta wonder - where will Mourinho go after United? PSG maybe but after that? He's always said he loves managing in the Premier League but can't see who will hire him after United.
  4. To be fair, we've spent 50m+ on two players in 6 years. This is the first time Liverpool went over 50m for a player?
  5. Also worth remembering that Azpi only cost 7 million. To think that we almost got Van der Wiel over him.
  6. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/12/27/liverpool-agree-world-record-75m-deal-virgil-van-dijk/ Liverpool have apparently agreed 75m (SEVENTY-FIVE!) deal for Van Dijk.
  7. Fair point and not saying that Conte is a Guardiola-esque manager for one moment but was there any question about his inability to bring the best out of attacking players when we switched to 3-4-3 last season? Forget the goals, we saw Hazard play better than in previous seasons and even Willian and Pedro chipped in with their fair share of goals. Saw that this season too when Conte switched to 3-5-2 and suddenly Hazard became even more devastating just playing behind the striker. Conte is a pragmatic manager by nature and there's no doubt about that but I feel he's been unfairly pigeonholed as a defensive manager. We may not have been able to do it every game but we have seen attacking performances in games under Conte. It might not be overly 'WOW' like how some react to Guardiola's team but it's still good, attacking football. In fact, it's kinda silly to brand Conte a straight out defensive manager when we have not seen him work with a proper quality squad. He's had to work with mostly average teams and get the best out of whatever he's got. He can only do so much, attacking wise, with this squad when it's lacking in a number of key areas. Easy to say put 'Player X in Guardiola's City side and he'll be much more effective' and that might be true but do you think if Guardiola were to manage our current squad, we would be able to play scintillating football like City do right now? And while we are all praising Guardiola for getting more from attacking players, let's not dismiss he's had his share of mixed failures too at Barcelona - e.g Zlatan, Fabregas, Sanchez.
  8. Plus he's turning 29 next year. Obviously the injuries are unfortunate but he should be at his peak right now, playing week in week out. Unfortunately, he isn't and if the injuries keep coming, you wonder how long he has left at the highest level.
  9. In the midst of all the frustration last weekend, completely forgot his 100% record as captain has ended.
  10. Can't remember who @Tomo had a discussion with in one of the threads but for a Mourinho side, they sure have been conceding some silly goals from set pieces lately. The two in the Manchester derby, the one at West Brom and another today against Burnley. 4 in the last 6 games and bizarrely, Lukaku has been heavily involved in them!
  11. Not sure if Lukaku is capable of being a true elite striker, even as a poacher never mind an all rounder. He lacks intelligent in his game, doesn't seem to possess mental strength and for someone with a big physique, he sure doesn't use it to his advantage and bully defenders like Drogba, for instance. He doesn't make himself a nightmare to play against. He's turning 25 next year, needs to start making his mark at the highest level soon if he's ever going to be a great striker.
  12. This is fun on Redcafe... http://www.redcafe.net/threads/mourinho-transfer-spend-is-not-enough.434904/
  13. Just had this debate with someone on Twitter (subsequently got blocked because of disagreement ) and really don't get some fans these days. One minute they are moaning about Willian, Pedro etc. The next, they want them back in so that we can be more attacking. That fella suggested Willian/Pedro would be world beaters if they were playing under Guardiola. I get Pedro may be more effective but Willian? Some fans suddenly think these average players are better than they actually are and are being held back by Conte's supposedly negative tactics.
  14. He really should have at least 15 goals by now. Keeps missing with his feet!
  15. Maybe. But then again, even when we have scored early like in previous home games, we still played at a pedestrian pace - e.g. the wins over Swansea, Bournemouth.
  16. What did you think was the difference between the first half and second today? Conte didn't change anything at HT and yet we looked far more threatening after the break.
