A lot of has been said about our form of late and deservedly so but the most depressing bit is that we've won only FOUR games out of 14 in 2018 and they came against Brighton, Newcastle, West Brom and Hull...FOUR relegation fodders!
-
Indeed. We face Liverpool in our last home game. Top 4 could be long gone by then.
-
Giving him time is one thing but he's not helping himself by constantly going to ground, moaning to referees, is he? If he's putting in the effort at the very least, then I think the fans can give him leeway and be patient. But he's not and he's not even scoring goals. For all the antics that Costa used to do on the pitch last time, at least he scores goals on a regular basis.

He turns 30 this year. So, can't wait for us to pursue all summer only to then realize his age and not offer more than 1 year+ contract and we end up signing some dud from Ligue 1.

I sense cheap advertising of your birthday there. *tsk tsk tsk*

Cech still can't get his 200th Premier League clean sheet. On his longest run without one too. Poor lad.
-
I know we are not Man City but they have been tearing through Arsenal like nothing while we only beat them ONCE in EIGHT games since last season. Really puts a bad light on Conte.
-
Surely, we'll play better than Arsenal have against Man City on Sunday? SURELY???
-
"We will discuss this internal" - since he was going to say that, then why did he even question Conte in the public to begin with? I can appreciate it when a player is being honest but questioning the manager in the public doesn't seem like a good idea, especially when we've had enough problems of late. Why add more to the problem? It won't be a surprise if the media pounce on this if/when we lose our next few games.
-
Courtois also came out to criticize Conte for the United match at the weekend. Almost as if he wants to cause trouble and force us to sell him ASAP...
-
Assuming the board are kind enough and give Azpi a proper contract, then I'm pretty sure he's more than willing to accept it and stay on. Said in a French radio interview last year that he wants to finish his career here.

Seriously though, we need to stop sharing articles from shit sites like Daily Star.

In all honesty, this comparison between Morata and Torres is kinda silly. If we want to talk about making impact on the whole, then yes, I can see where people are coming from when comparing those two. But the similarities between the two end there. Morata has far more quality than Torres (when he joined us) and has shown on some occasions what he can do upfront. The main issue is, for whatever reason, Morata seems more interested in falling down, arguing with referee etc than making his quality count on the pitch. He wanted to be the no.1 striker and we gave him the opportunity to be one but hasn't proven to be that and he's talked about repaying Conte's faith but again, he's not fighting for him, for the team's cause. Genuinely want him to succeed here but someone needs to talk to him to find out the problem. If he doesn't want to be here, if he's feeling home sick, we should just cut our losses and start looking elsewhere than do what we did with Torres, persisting with dross for so long.

You're being fairly optimistic! Gonna need a clinical counter attacking performance like last season and hope City have an off day.
-
Couple of weeks? Don't think anything has been reported on it. In any case, think this season is a complete 'write-off' for him. Even if he makes a comeback soon, it'll take games/weeks to get him to 100% fitness.
-
Could get away with Ozil's lack of workrate at Real Madrid when you have the freak that is Ronaldo banging 40-50 goals a season and Di Maria helping do the dirty work in the team. If you want to talk about luck, then I suppose one could care less as luck kept screwing us over in the years prior to 2012 when we had far better quality squads than the one that won it.
-
You are right but at the same time, top teams won't sign quality players if they are lazy or have poor attitude in matches. Ozil is probably an example, which also explains why none of the big teams queued up to sign him like they did with Sanchez.
-
Chill. No one is disagreeing with quality being important. All I'm saying it's just as important as having the fight, desire or whatever you want to call it. Our squad, for example, isn't the greatest but have some quality but have lost far too easily and badly at times to shit teams because the players couldn't give an arse.
-
True but same applies the other way round too. You can have as much quality as you want but if you don't "marry" that with the fight and desire, you won't get far.
-
Funny thing is, without them, we would never have won the Champions League in 2012.
-
He's moaned several times about Bayern needing to spend big to stay at the very top. If he's already doing that with Bayern, do you think he would really choose us given the current state of our club? It's all good pointing out the location or our past achievement but players mainly care about wanting to enjoy consistent success in the future. Apart from winning 2 league titles in last 3 seasons, what else have we really done? The odd domestic cup final here and there and not even anywhere close to winning the Champions League. Unless Roman decides to splash really big money again, there's no way we'll sign the top, quality players, especially if we don't finish in the top 4.

It didn't make a difference in the summer. Things won't change in terms of signings until a manager is given more power or the board is reformed. Lately, I've been thinking "if only things in England are like in Germany or Italy, whereby the director of football or someone from the board always is always available to speak to the media"!
