Here's the thing, if the players don't follow the manager's instructions and something wrong happens, they get criticized. If they follow the instructions and something wrong happens, they also get criticized. So, who exactly is at fault here? Why did we even play a high line against Arsenal to begin with? We should have defended deeper for a start, especially when we were not going to press or capable of pressing effectively. That setup is from Lampard and he didn't change anything during the game. To say Arteta had a game plan to nullify James is sort of kind for us when he had Arsenal repeatedly exploit the area between James and Azpi (later Zouma) and Lampard did nothing to sort that problem out. Can't believe I'm saying but we probably missed Willian doing the "donkey work" down that side on Saturday. Also, I know JT is arguably our best captain ever but there is a tendency to say things that makes him perfect when in reality, he also got exploited a lot while playing in a high line under AVB.

You said it as if Inter want to sack Conte when in reality, it looks as if Conte is trying to get himself sack with his constant moaning. Okay Allegri had some signings in his first season, notably Morata, Coman and Evra but regardless, he still managed to take Juventus to the final at the first time of asking and then another later. Conte doesn't have the greatest of records in Europe anyway. 2012/13 - Got to the UCL QFs (lost to eventual champions Bayern) 2013/14 - Got KOed in the UCL Group Stage (lost in the Europa League semi-final to Benfica) 2017/18 - Got KOed in the UCL R16 2019/20 - Got KOed in the UCL Group Stage (included a 3-2 lost at Dortmund after going 2-0 up and a 1-1 home draw against Slavia Prague) There also have been dodgy results along the way.

Seems like Lewis Dunk is a Chelsea fan... https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/8768651/lewis-dunk-chelsea-dog-didier-drogba/

We should be fine as long as the Spanish player costs less than 40 million.
-
Pretty sure the club broke their own policy when they also decided to give a 30-year-old+ Luiz two-year contract. The likes of Terry and Lampard must have spitted bloody...
-
Still can't believe we managed to sign him!

Lewis Dunk again!? He fits Lampard's height solution, I guess...
-
Not surprised, if true. The signs are there...

@Tomo Thoughts on "letting" Willian go to Arsenal? Good move or will come to regret it?

Am sure every other top managers and players are winners as well but there are ways to go about it, even when when you don't win, and Conte's way is definitely not one of them.

The silly or frustrating thing with Conte is that he has shown he can coach and has proven it. He can improve players, make teams play better and even punch about their weight. But some times, he just goes and does/says things that you make you go 'What the hell?!'. If he focuses more on the coaching than the incessant moaning, he would actually be very enticing for the big clubs. But that is unlikely ever gonna be the case if he keeps his volatile management style going.

Inter may have been happy to finish 2nd but Conte himself doesn't care about 2nd. He only wants 1st. Otherwise, he'll just moan. He's basically a short term manager.
-
Reasons? What reasons does he have to be moaning almost every week? He's been backed to the hill by Inter with the transfers and yet, he is still moaning. If he's unhappy with the board, go speak with them behind closed doors and if he's still unhappy, then just quit. Constantly throwing his toys out of the pram like a baby in the public just makes him look bad and is not going to help his future job prospects at a big club.

Hard to disagree but still both very similar. In Mourinho's case, he might have been desperate to turn things around but when his methods of doing that were basically repeating the same things, then it's like 'What's the point?'. Plus, his passive aggressive ways and man management were (and still?) arguably the most dominant factor in causing the bad slump because if the players do not respond to what you say anymore, then you're in big trouble.
-
Saying Conte likes to moan because he is a winner, knows he wants etc is silly. Does that mean the likes of Klopp, Guardiola are not winners because they do not moan?
-
No chance of Kante being sold even with all his injury problems.
-
Conte? It depends on which aspects, IMO, because they are both very similar.

This thing with Conte's targets is that it is not exactly black and white. Yes, the board did not exactly back him but at the same time, some of his targets were duds. I mean, Antonio Candreva? Fernando Llorente? They would have been just as disastrous as the likes of Drinkwater, Zappacosta etc. Moreover, if we want to talk about hindsight, then it was also a good thing that we did not buy Sandro, Danilo and Nainggolan. Sandro hardly pulling up any trees at Juventus. Danilo has gone to Man City and flopped. Nainggolan is now on loan at Cagliari, after Conte deciding to bin him despite having wanted him at Chelsea. Would have been hard to bin them, just like how we are struggling to bin certain players. Furthermore, it is hard to know why he is even moaning now at Inter. He has got quite a lot of backing from the board in the transfer market, being able to sign his players and all that but he is still unhappy. Why? Conte may have the track record but if he wants to continue being like this, then go ahead because at some point, the big clubs are gonna be wary and tired of his antics - just like how clubs feel now with Mourinho, unless that club are really desperate for trophies - and not hire him. The only person to suffer then is Conte himself. Am too lazy to check his teams but go through Conte's sides and am sure you would find players that he likes and rarely drops, even after bad performances. Every manager has their favorites and will rarely or not drop them at any cost, unfortunately and whether we like it or not. Don't think people are not giving Conte enough credit. Our last title win was one of our more enjoyable ones, certainly better than the one before that IMO but it's just, like Tomo said, Conte has shown that he can motivate and coach a team to play and some times, punch above their weight and yet, he just likes to moan about things. It is what we have seen at Juventus, Chelsea and now at Inter. And he has been backed so much at Inter, arguably even more so than at Juventus and Chelsea. I don't know what conversation he had with the Inter board behind closed doors but having a manager who constantly moans in the media and creates this negative atmosphere is tiresome. We had it with both Mourinho and Conte. Heck, it's somewhat refreshing that Lampard isn't doing this in the media and especially after not being able to sign anyone in January.
