  1. Personally, no. Would rather take Demba Ba than Walcott.
  2. Everyone screaming for the club to sign Walcott. Yeah...if he ends up signing a new contract with Arsenal and I won't be surprised then to hear people saying he's rubbish, overrated and there are better players out there etc.
  3. Wasn't just talking about this though. Same thing has happened with Walcott, Falcao etc.
  4. Do people ever only start rolling the bandwagon when the player starts scoring (again) or do something extraordinary?! When the player is off-form, nobody says a thing. When he is in-form, most people go have a wankfest!
  5. I think it's even more laughable for people like you to be clouded by the hatred on AVB and not to give him a bit of credit for some of the good things he contributed when managing us, despite his big failure ultimately.
  6. That's the FA Cup tie and it's away from home.
  7. No announcement on when we're gonna play that game yet. Not many empty weeks to fit that game in at the moment. Will depend on our progression in the League Cup, FA Cup and/or Europa League.
  8. Meh. Down to 4th then. Could drop to 5th if West Brom beat United later. Kinda piss off that we can't play that game in hand yet!
  9. As much as that was an incredible and crazy game that we won, I would just be as happy to take a smash and grab 1-0 win or just a cagey, boring 1-0 win.
  10. Cech talked about the Champions League journey last season. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/dec/28/2012-petr-cech-champions-league?CMP=twt_gu
  11. Azpilicueta could well be the 1st player in ages that we pay a low price for a quality player.
  12. This is a case of the pot calling the kettle black.
  13. Anyway, I cannot believe that they did not upload Hazard's post-match interview with Neil Barnet after the Villa game!
  14. Did I specifically said that Falcao can't link up the play and play 1-2s? He can but is he good at it? Not convinced. And if someone like Falcao doesn't excel in linking up the play etc, then obviously the team playing approach would become different by playing a certain way that caters to the strengths of the ST. Perhaps, it's a similar case to what we're doing with Torres at the moment.
  15. Having the number of assists and excelling in link up play doesn't mean it's the lay-off OR the final pass by the ST to his teammate to score. Sometimes it is that but not necessarily always the case. It's also about keeping the passing flowing and going by linking up with the ST whether he drops deep or say playing 1-2s in a tight area in and/or around the penalty box. Yes, of a course a ST's main job is to score but there are so much more to the game than just having a ST who score these days. And really, with all the talk about Lewandowski's excelling in link up play here, people think as if his goalscoring record is as bad as Torres for us. Granted he may not be a goalscoring machine like Falcao but his finishing is still good. Scoring 30 goals in 47 appearances last season and 15 in 25 this season for Dortmund is not exactly a poor goalscoring return, is it?!
  16. Well, there are rumours circling that Ronaldo won't be renewing his contract with Madrid. Furthermore, he's already 27 years old this year, 6 years older than Hazard. Come 3-4 years time, Ronaldo may well start to decline while Hazard could well be on the up and Madrid then would want somebody of Hazard's calibre to replace Ronaldo. Like I said earlier, I'm just being paranoid and a miserable prick here. I apologize for that...
  17. Falcao having a number of assists doesn't mean that he excels at linking up the play.
  18. http://espn.go.com/sports/soccer/story/_/id/8767384/soccer-player-oscar-next-espn-magazine
  19. If Hazard develops into a similar kind of player like Ronaldo, then I don't think that would be out of the question.
  20. Well then, you obviously have not watched enough of poachers like Gomez, Hernandez and understand those roles. Oh gawd! Do I have to be so specific?! I already said about Lewandowski's abilites of linking up the play, be it in holding up the play, bringing others into play, playing 1-2s, creating space for others with off the ball movements. In doing so, he can play in the likes of Mata, Hazard, Oscar etc into the space created to score. OR in tight areas inside the penalty box, he can hold up the ball, play 1-2s with Mata, Oscar or Hazard etc for them or him to score. OR through his off the ball movement, he can allow those 3 fellas mentioned or even Ramires to run beyond into the space vacated for them to score. You may say that Falcao can do all that as well but I'm not convinced by it. Great finisher yes. Great in linking up the play? Question marks are still there IMO. If you don't agree with that, then fine. Think it's pretty obvious that we have differing views about STs here. So, just agree to disagree then. Agree to disagree then. I've had enough arguments about STs lately!
  21. Ok, sure. Send it to me and I shall feed it to 'my' cats.
  22. Not necessary. Falcao maybe a great finisher but don't think he excels at linking up play. Though Lewandowski's finish may not be great but he's great at linking up the play etc and given that he's only 24 and available for a reasonable low fee, he can only get better. Feel free to disagree if you want. Simplistic way of looking at the contribution of players? Just look at goal poachers like Mario Gomez then for Bayern. What else does he contribute to the team besides scoring goals? Same goes with Hernandez at United. All of which Lewandowski can do as well and you're basically just repeating what my point about the STs.
  23. Just look at the likes of Tevez, Van Persie or Rooney(in form). They don't only score the goals but can also create for others by linking up the play etch. Just because they are specialize in more than 1 thing, doesn't mean they are not a good player. Nobody said anything like that when we had Drogba! Even with Drogba, we still different type of STs in Anelka, Kalou etc to provide something different upfront. Problem with limited players is that if the opponent can prevent that ST from playing to his strengths, then he becomes immediately useless because he is limited and doesn't possess other type of abilities to help the team. At least with an all rounder ST, if the opponent negate one of their strengths, then he can use his other strengths/abilities to benefit the team as well in a dfferent way.
  24. True but I don't think it would be much of a problem moving to Madrid if they want to. Not exactly a bad place to be living in, is it?
